We are looking for people right now to June of 2017. Those who become part of our team will learn to be true stewards of the land and learn a great deal about what it takes to build a sustainable certified organic farm business. Often this is repetitive hard work in all weather conditions but at other times it can be harvesting flowers, herbs and berries, dehydrating and blending herbs, packaging, labeling etc etc. Lots of variety! We now need help with winter clean up.
At our certified organic farm we have created a new line of herbal products under the brand name Folki which includes, teas, tinctures and salves. Our goal is to create a full line of herbal products for wholesale distribution as well as a line of products for a farm based shop and destination tourist attraction.
Located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island this farm project began on 13 acres of logged and stripped off land in August 2009 and it is amazing what we have managed to achieve thanks to all the volunteers who participated in this very interesting project from the beginning.
The staff have a wealth of knowledge and can tell you anything about plants and gardening practices, anything from companion planting to harvesting, drying and mixing herbs for various purposes.
We offer our volunteers accommodation in a self contained farm house/cottage on a nearby private property. This property has internet. Transportation is provided to and from the farm and there are also bicycles. All food is provided for your needs including fresh seasonal organic veggies, herbs & eggs from the farm which you can pick as you wish. Please take note that the hosts Catherine and Sebastien do not live on the site and you would be preparing meals for yourself.
This is a perfect situation for the right people. Only very serious applicants please. Unfortunately we are unable to assist with travel Visa applications.
IMPORTANT PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE IN DUNCAN BEFORE 4PM AS WE CANNOT COLLECT YOU IN THE EVENINGS. THE GREYHOUND FROM VANCOUVER CAN TAKE YOU STRAIGHT INTO DUNCAN ON THE ISLAND.
