Rotorua is a world-renowned tourist mecca - famous for its Maori cultural experiences, geothermal attractions, spas, hot pools, nature & wildlife parks, biking, marathons & outdoor adventures. We love meeting new people from all walks of life and seeing them recharge and relax or get out and about enjoying Rotorua in exchange for low-stress, easy tasks.

Two options: 2 hours work per person per night, buy and prepare your own food or 5 hours, meals provided.

Tasks that suit the weather and your abilities... choose from a long list of improvements to restore the property to a pristine state - housekeeping, lawn mowing, weeding, window cleaning, various repairs & maintenance. Suggestions based on your own particular talents and work experience welcomed also. Arrange your hours so as to have entire days free of any commitments here and just enjoy being a tourist here.

Right now we are focused on decluttering, improving the sleepout/cabin and tidying the garden.

Minimum stay 3 nights. Unless you have skills of exceptional value, our usual maximum stay is ONE week.

Please note also that we have listings on 2 other sites and often receive multiple enquiries daily. If you do not confirm arrangements ASAP after we respond to your initial enquiry with an offer, our response will be out of date very quickly. It was taking up a lot of time chasing people for confirmations and providing individual updates so we no longer do that. If offered a timeslot that you want, accept the offer ASAP as otherwise it is likely to be very quickly gone to someone else.

The sleep out (studio/bedsit) is available for a group of two or three travellers. It has a king-size bed and a sofabed (small double). There is a basic kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, hot plate & various small appliances. The unlimited fibre high-speed wifi usually works really well including for live-stream TV or videos. The ensuite has a toilet, handbasin & shower. There is secure off-street parking right outside the front door of your unit, plus an exterior powerpoint to hook up a van.

For solo travellers and when the cabin is unavailable, there is a spare bedroom in the main house. This room has a triple bunk bed - double below and single on top.

Clean fresh bedding & towels are provided and there is a large well-stocked supermarket just a few minutes' walk away. The washing machine is available by prior arrangement.

Please note that your host is somewhat introverted plus works from home. If it is essential for you to spend lots and lots of your free time with a chatty host family in an upmarket situation, this is definitely NOT the place for you. It is more suited to self-reliant independent travellers who value privacy and a good night's sleep.

In addition to the supermarket, there are several takeaway food outlets and bus stops on Fairy Springs Road (SH5) in just a few minutes' walk. Skyline Luge Gondola is visible from the driveway. We're on the north side of town, 3.5 kms from the Rotorua iSite bus depot.
