Our place is situated half-way on the beautiful Nydia Track in a remote paradise with no road access. It is a peaceful place for our family, hikers and mountain bikers.
We are a family of 6; Art & Helen and 4 teenage/young adult children. There are usually only two teenagers at home. (Our profile picture is a bit old; the kids are all a lot taller now ;-)
We have three dogs; Elvis, Flower and Luna and also have goats, chickens, sheep, cows, a pony and a cat.

You will love being in Nydia Bay, being with our family and learning about living of the grid on a property that has no road and gets the mail delivered once a week by the mailboat. We are a happy, social family and love to share meals together and exchange stories about your and our life and travel. You will learn about life on a boat-access-only property surrounded by native bush, about gardening and being more self-sufficient. Also about the trees, plants, birds, marine and farm animals.
We are looking for a couple or a single person who are social but are also comfortable to spend time by themselves. An outgoing personality and a reasonably good grasp of English is preferred. We would like the helpers to help with household chores, cleaning, gardening, firewood, animal care and other tasks around the place. We get chores done early in the day, so there is time to play & relax later in the afternoons.
Animal care, gardening, in & around the house.

We provide accommodation in one of our chalets or in a small cute cabin (might have to move around a bit).
We have unlimited wifi in the house.
Nydia Bay is situated in the Marlborough Sounds. You can get to us by watertaxi, mailboat, a 5 hour hike or you can come in on your mountain bike. We can also pick you up in Havelock with our boat. While you are here you can enjoy endless walks and hikes, swimming of the jetty, fishing, kayaking and lots more. While helping out and living here you will be part of our daily routines and all meals with the family (we have lactose intolerant family member, so cooking for this intolerance works fine for us).
