Description
Our place is situated in the Marlborough Sounds, half-way on the beautiful Nydia Track.
It is a peaceful paradise for hikers and mountain bikers.
We are accessible by walking (5h from Havelock or Duncan Bay) or by boat (1h from Havelock)
Our daily life is all about the experience of the Marlborough Sounds and the native bush, with other people and our animals.

You will love being in Nydia Bay and learning about living of the grid on a property that has no road and gets the mail delivered once a week by the mailboat.

Nydia Bay is situated in the Marlborough Sounds. You can get to us by watertaxi, mailboat, a 5 hour hike or you can come in on your mountain bike.
We can also pick you up in Havelock with our boat.
While you are here you can enjoy walks and hikes, swimming of the jetty, fishing, kayaking and lots more.
While helping out and living here you will be part of our daily routines.

I really felt like being part of the family. Jobs are nicely divers and some days longer as other. Make the fire for warm water, gardening, get the sheep, milk the cow, hang laundry with a cow visit haha, big fun. Good food and beds.

Charlotte and Jorrit were excellent workawayers. They were tidy and willing to give everything a go. We had a great two and a half weeks with them. I stayed in Nydia Bay only for a week but got to experience lot of nice things at that time. This is the place to be if you like nature and animals. You can walk so many wonderful tracks here, see the Weka bird and all the animals they have . I got to even see seals and dolphins while we went to fishing.

Johanna stayed with us for a week. She helped with all sorts of odd jobs around the house and the lodge. Johanna is tidy, works hard, enjoys being on her own, is fit and energetic. Steph and Alice were great! They worked hard, were friendly, enthusiastic and fun. They are easy to get along with and they were great with the kids. They were happy to do a whole range of work. They helped in the garden, fire wood, cooking, with our website, logo and they made a promotional video! They did lots of other stuff too.

We absolutely recommend staying here, this family is just amazing. We stayed there 3 weeks and we loved everything. The locaton is absolutely stunning and magical with the mountain and the sea.
