Description
Hey there, fellow adventurers! We’re a family that decided to exchange the mountains for the ocean, and now we’re running a beachfront surf hostel in the vibrant little community of Las Tunas, Ecuador. We’re nestled along the Pacific coast, with the gorgeous tropical rainforest mountains setting the scene. Our hostel is a laid-back spot for travelers, and you’ll be part of our family, which also includes our adorable wolfdog, Lobito, and our four charming cats: Cash, Sol, Chapito, and Güero.
We’re on the lookout for friendly, motivated, and trustworthy volunteers who can commit to at least a month. Your enthusiasm and positive vibes are essential for making sure our guests have a great experience.
Here’s what you’ll be up to:
- Customer Service & Guest Relations: You’ll be welcoming guests, taking care of the check-in and check-out process, handing out keys, and helping out with daily activities like yoga and surf lessons. Plus, you’ll be the go-to person for info about WiFi, local tips, and hostel guidelines.
- Hostel Maintenance: Keeping the reception area, common spaces, and accommodations (including dorms, suites, and tiny homes) neat and ready for our guests to enjoy.
Hours: You’ll help a max of 24 hours a week.
Time Off: You’ll have three whole days off each week to go out and explore!
What you’ll receive:
- We provide a comfy and friendly living space so you’ll have plenty of energy for surfing and adventuring! You’ll get a nice bed in a shared room for volunteers or staff at the hostel, which is clean, secure, air-conditioned, and comes with shared bathroom facilities and lockers.
- You’ll have full access to our communal kitchen to whip up your own meals. It’s a great way to save some cash and connect with other travelers and volunteers over shared meals!
- The hostel is right in front of an awesome surf spot! You’ll get free, unlimited access to our surfboards (for all skill levels) and kayaks.
- We’ve got high-speed, reliable Wi-Fi available throughout both buildings and in common areas.
- Dedicated Workspace: For anyone who needs to concentrate, we offer a special co-working area designed specifically for digital nomads and remote workers.
- We've got an amazing pool and jacuzzi area for you to enjoy!
Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, and we’re lucky to be surrounded by it every day. Imagine waking up to a serene, friendly, and naturally beautiful setting just outside your door. Join us on local hikes to discover hidden beaches, waterfalls, and other towns and communities!

- Coastal Living & Nature: Experience life amid the rich biodiversity of the Machalilla region. You'll get to know the local environment and traditional coastal activities.

Help
We have a fantastic team of four volunteers, so the workload at our hostel is pretty manageable and straightforward. That means your shifts can be productive, leaving you with plenty of time to enjoy our amazing location.
Your daily tasks will revolve around being a part of this community:
- Socializing with Guests: You'll want to be friendly and approachable, making sure guests feel welcome and well-informed.
- General Tidiness: Pitching in with the regular routines to keep the hostel organized and ready for our guests.
- Team Support: Running small errands if needed and lending a hand to other team members.
We really value balance and fun here. Just come ready to help efficiently for a few hours every day, then you can spend the rest of your time surfing, relaxing, and soaking up the beauty of Las Tunas.
