    Description

Hello, and thanks for your interest in joining us. Are you already in northern Norway? Drop us a line! 😉

We look for handy & weather proof people with a Professional background in carpentry, tourism and animals, to work together with us at our remote farm. Positions wanted :

    - Carpenter and dogsledding guide, September 25 to May 26
    - Housekeeper and dogsledding guide, August 25 to May 26
    - Extra hands for shorter periods

Building season is in the summer, guiding season starts in September.

We have huskies, but in the summer they represent only 20% of the work : most of the tasks at our place are versatile farmlife. Carpentry, housekeeping, gardening, cooking... Are you up for joining the team?

Accommodation provided, as well as salary for every hour and every helper. Wage according to experience. Health insurance and full coverage under our company insurance

    ❄ WHO WE ARE
We are a Norwegian - French couple running a small husky farm and guesthouse. We are experienced outdoor guides specialised in the Arctic. We have organised trips for more than 20 years. We live in a remote farm with 1 teenager, 35 huskies, 6 puppies, 2 cats, and a wonderful team of 2, Belgium brother and sister.

    ❄ SKILLS
Hard-working, motivated, positive : it's a lifestyle, not a 9 to 5 job. It’s important that you are flexible, and so are we, as it can be long days in a rustic environment. Life at the farm involves various tasks, which are repetitive - but also fulfilling with the right mindset!

    - maintenance and carpentry

    - welcoming guests (hospitality)
    - co-guiding husky tours
    - cleaning accommodations (housekeeping)
    - cooking and freezing in large quantities for expeditions

    ❄ REQUIREMENTS
    No smoking, no drinking
    Animals lover
Nationality : EU countries only (no visa required)
    Working language : English
    Driving licence
    Autonomous with laundry & meals
    Self-starter‍ mentality
Send us an email with CV + experience

❄ CONDITIONS : salary + accommodation, full coverage under our company insurance.

We can also help with working clothes, a lot of unforgettable experiences with our huskies, and an insight into the life in the Arctic. We appreciate to welcome couples, because our farm can be remote to be here by yourself.

Please note that there is a 2 weeks trial period, and that the work on a  farm can be hard, especially in November-January when the temperatures are below 10°. The animals have to be fed and the cleaning has to be done at fix time, irrelevant how the weather is.

    ❄ OUR ACTIVITY
We offer outdoor adventures to our guests : dogsledding, sailing, skiing, whale watching... Our activities are very seasonal :

August - November : full time dog-training on kart and quad. Production of firewood. Cleaning accommodations between bookings. Carpentry, painting & fencing. Picking and preparing berries, rhubarb, mushrooms, moose and pig meat.

May - August : tidying after the snow melting, production of firewood for next winter, diverse carpentry projects and sheds to build and arrange, harvesting birch bark, building and restoration of local/traditional cultural heritage, fixing and painting at the farm. ‍

December - January : guiding dogsledding trips, snow-plowing, guest-house host (cooking, cleaning).

February - April : assistant with logistics around long trips from the the farm. Possibility to join some expeditions as assistant guide and cook. We can be away for some weeks, so you shall be self-driven.

    ❄ PLEASE INCLUDE
    CV and previous experiences
A few sentences about yourself, your work experience, why to join our team, dates
    Allergies or dietary restrictions

What a day at the Farm may look like:

Wake up and grab some breakfast, before throwing on your ‘dog clothes’ and receiving a warm welcome from your new furry friends. Our morning routines with the animals are always the same : feeding, picking poo and giving water. After this is completed, grab a well earned cup of coffee and discuss with us the plan for the day. This can involve dog training, painting, cleaning guesthouse, processing firewood and working on general maintenance and carpentry at the farm.

You will be taught about feeding the dogs, how to prepare the meals, etc... This includes learning how to assess the physical condition of huskies and understanding how the feeding program changes over the year with the level of activity of the dogs and weather. Regular tasks like claw clipping, paws and health checks will also be covered.

We love to work with people who are efficient, passionate and see the funny side of life when things don’t go as planned. You will be working alongside us, and spending a lot of time together in a remote location. It is important that you enjoy the social side of things, and can get on easily with people.

After a few hours of hard work, enjoy lunch - on your own or with us depending on the tasks of the day. This is often eating together in the garden , but also eating expedition food together with guests by the campfire, taking in the views of the beautiful scenery that is our ‘playground’ here in north Norway!

We sometimes have dinner together in the evenings, or you may prefer to pack a sandwich and take a hike up the mountains with a dog, to watch the sunset over the forest, river and mountains!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We provide a room in a shared accommodation : tiny house or rustic cabin by the dog yard.

It's small and cosy, and has everything needed : electricity, radiator, wood-stove, kitchen. Couples welcome.

Shared toilets and bathroom. We usually eat meals separately, and cook one meal per week together : everyone is welcome to share their cooking skills, new tastes are always welcome!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Please note that in winter you might wait for a reply from us for a week, this is when all our time is spent with the dogs on tour.

TIME OFF : 2 days a week. The dogs need care and feeding 24h/7 and we are a small team, so it is generally easier to plan daily excursion than multiple days.

LOCAL SIGHTS : we can advise on many nice places to explore in our close surroundings, Målselv region is definitely worth to explore. We have canoes, cross country skis and touring equipment.

AVAILABLE TRANSPORTS : our lodge is remote, so it's necessary to have a driving licence to go shopping. We are located in the forest with no neighbours, outside a very small hamlet, and you won't have a lot of transport possibilities. If you like to be around a lot of people all the time, this might not be the best place for you!
