Eli is very hardworking and accomplished a tremendous amout during his stay with us, including the tedious job of breaking down an old wood pile and rebuilding it, with a lot of chopping involved. He also cleaned out an old forge building, a very dirty and tiring job. He worked with another workawayer, Jacquie, to create a composting area that we

We loved having Jacquie here with us in Fondos. She brings some deeply valuable skills to the table. The plans she came up with for our gardens were so thoughtful, beautiful, and, importantly, achievable. In doing this, she really left her mark in ways that will be visible for many years to come, both for us, and for anyone who comes to make art

Jacquie is a gentle soul, very kind and always ready to work. She is extremely knowledgable about anything plant-related. You'd be lucky to have her come to stay. She was a pleasure to get to know, and I dearly hope we see her again.
What a wonderful experience! Sarah and Jones, such a generous, intelligent and kind couple, allowed me into their charming home to share a moment in what is becoming, with much hard work, an amazing project. I greatly appreciated interesting conversations over tasty meals, enjoyable trips together, learning about traditions and pleasant chats with

I helped carry out various tasks from firewood stacking, painting indoor walls, moving furniture, clearing barn areas for imminent restoration work, creating a compost system and designing and marking out a large veg garden. all done with a feeling of calm, like the ambience of the surrounding landscape . Thank you again for such a marvelous time and wishing you success in your interesting and innovative enterprise.

It was during Roel's stay with us that it occurred to me that I had not fully understood the potential benefits of using workaway. We thought it would be great to get some help around here as we work to create our creative project on a shoestring budget, and indeed it has been a huge help that has really moved us forward. But I didn't really think

Roel is hardworking, for sure. He attacked every job with enthusiasm and skill. He saw needs that we hadn't even recognized yet and made improvements that would not have happened for a long time, if at all. He was incredibly helpful during the 3 weeks he was here.
That is HOW Roel was. But it was WHO Roel is that was such a gift to us. He is creative and curious. Sensitive to beauty. Caring and funny. A natural creative with a unique perspective. Intelligent and engaging. Jones enjoyed the many photography-related conversations so much. And the house felt so empty when he left.
Roel, of course, you are ALWAYS welcome here in Fondos. Every time I see something interesting or beautiful, I think of how you would enjoy it. I KNOW we will see you again. Until then, un abrazo fuerte, and watch out for the mexaparvos!

I had a wonderful time with Sarah and Jones during my 3 week stay with them. They welcomed me with open arms, made me feel at home, are generous with their stories, their food and sharing what they value in life. We've had wonderful conversations, went on trips where I got to see some incredible hidden places around Galicia, I met some of the
… read more loving and caring people around them, it was just great and I could write half a book about it but trust me when I say you should go and experience it for yourself ;)
I did a variety of work for them ranging from cleaning out part of an unused barn, to re-wiring some of the steel wires holding up the grapevines, to cutting down tall grass in the backyard and a variety of other smaller tasks. Usually we'd have breakfast together (after the daily fresh (!) baker showed up), work for a couple hours, have lunch, sometimes do a bit more after lunch, other times not so much.
It was always chill, it was well communicated, there were clear expectations and there was also room to say 'I'm not extremely comfortable with this, so if I could do something else, great' - as an example; after doing work in the lawn for a day my allergies hit badly, I told them I'd like to do something which involved less grass, and so we did. No fuss. Just friendly, calm, professional.
As a first workaway experience, can't recommend enough. It showed me a part of Spain I didn't know, introduced me to two wonderful people that are chasing a dream, taught me a whole bunch about life, photography and Galicia and generally speaking was just an awesome thing to do.Feedback

What an incredible time I had with Sarah and Jones. They (and everybody in the village) welcomed me with such kindness I could barely believe it. Very quickly it felt like I was home. From having dinner together to showing me the best places around, they have made my trip there truly unforgettable.

To make it brief, they are wonderful, thoughtful, very generous people and I have only good things to say about this workaway.
Sarah and Jones, thanks again for everything and I wish you only the best in your spanish adventures!
I don't know how this experience could have possibly gone any better. Matthieu was an absolute pleasure to host over the past month. He is intelligent, thoughtful, funny, caring, and hard-working. He's not afraid to get dirty, and not afriad of philosophical discussions. What a well-grounded young man. His patience with the local folks' constant

Thank you, Matthieu, and we wish you every good thing on your life's journey. Un abrazo fuerte. We've noticed that there's less than 3 photos uploaded to your profile.
