My name is David, and I'm a retired Headmaster living in the beautiful mountains of Eastern Uganda, Bududa District, on the slopes of the great Mt. Elgon. My incredible wife Elizabeth and I have welcoming volunteers, eco-tourists, and professionals alike to join us at our village home since 2008, and have enjoyed the company of over 500 visitors during these years!
There is never a dull moment at our home, as we take care of several grandchildren and local kids. We are closely asssociated with a local non-profit organization that aims to empower the community to be free from the grips of poverty. The major projects include Village Savings and Loans Associations, an Education Center (pre-primary school), and the advocacy for eco-tourism development in the district.
We encourage our guests to take part in any/all of these activities, as well as to join us and our the local community in the seasonal harvests and sustainable agriculture practices that make this place what it is!
While we are new to WorkAway, we are seasoned hosts, and would love for you to join our family in the mountains for a stay!
Our project has to charge $ 5 for food per day.

In developing countries (Where most hosts are involved in charity work or community development) some of our hosts may ask for a small donation to help the host family or charity (often less then 5 dollars per day) Workaway will allow this listing when the donation goes directly to the family or charity and is just to cover the cost of the volunteer‘s stay. (This will be clearly marked on the host listing).
We will strictly not allow listings posted by agents, “middle men” or projects who we feel are looking to profit from a volunteers stay.
