    Description

Stay with us in Roberts Creek, BC Canada on 10 acres on the slopes of Mount Elphinstone. Real wilderness begins right behind the kitchen, although we are 15 minutes from two small towns and a 35 minute ferry to Vancouver. We are a gay male couple in a long-term relationship with deep connections to diverse others including families. We are renovating this property to gift others through occasional retreats and intentional evenings. Our objective is to nurture authentic human relationships in real time and space, building friendship and community through non-commercial experience. We are looking for skilled humanists as helpful friends.

Our long-term objective is to build friendship with others through activity, including this kind of work. We encourage all sorts of diversions to explore who we are and who we might be, through creative channels and vulnerable, trusting human experience. While we go to bed early and get up with dawn, nighthawks can stay up late in the media room. You can hike or bike 100km of trails that start right off the property or explore your creative passions. Electronic keyboard, guitar and djembe drums are here to play with.

We are currently building a wood pedestrian bridge above the pond, repairing lean-to wood storage, building a trellis near the food garden and hope to install an irrigation system this spring. We have ongoing site cleanup needs including forest fire safety measures like removing lower branches and clearing forest deadfall. For those who would like to help in the workshop, we have interior cabinets to make. Painting and staining the original log part of the house is also in the long list of possibilities.

Guest room in the main house has a view of distant lights across the Salish Sea; bathroom is across the hall. We share meals and while my partner does most cooking, we hope that workaway volunteers will assist with table preparation and dish cleanup while helping to keep our shared space in reasonable order.

Regional bus servicing ferry and nearby towns is a 1km walk from the property. Awesome Vancouver is a 35-minute ferry ride with 40 minute express bus to downtown--close enough for a day trip. Roberts Creek village is a 12 min bike ride for able bikers, a 45 minute walk. Nearby towns Gibsons and Sechelt offer restaurants and typical small town supplies, a short bus ride away. Ocean is 2km down the road. The local community hall and Legion offer weekly musical events from electronic dance music to music jams.

The great room of the original log house, now surrounded by the renovation as an outdoor museum of sorts. Fireplace in the corner (not seen) supports heat pump in winter. Your warm log room is down that hall.
Starting to build the pond bridge. Work continues
The main house, a vintage log building now protected from winter rains by covered deck, with work and social spaces in the addition. Tucked right up to absolute wilderness on two sides. The house bows to deep forest in the east.
The main house west deck
Forest trails right behind the main house, leading to a 100km hiking/biking network.
One of two small ponds between the main house and the meadow. Joyful lotus flowers greet the sun all summer long.
Friends helping to complete the main house deck
Friends weeding the front English garden, view across the Salish Sea to Vancouver Island in the distance
The music jam "stage" corner in the Studio, main house when musicians are visiting.
The workshop, with 4x8 table, power planer, drill press, table saw, miter saw, various compressed air tools, dust evacuation system.
Quasar, our wonderful border collie cross
Borage flowers in greens from the garden
The cabin, which will need major roof maintenance coming up.
