Description
Hi, we're Emma and Ben and, with the help of our managers Tobi and Adel, we run activity holidays and specialist breaks like yoga and art retreats from our small renovated farmhouse at Lake Skadar National Park. We've been doing it since 2011!
We host small groups of guests every week from April to October, and take them hiking, kayaking and to enjoy the fantastic local wine and gastronomy. Out of season, there's always plenty of land and property maintenance to do!
You will find yourself based in a stunning location for any nature lover, bang in the middle of a huge national park, with plenty of free time to get out and explore. During the season, your lodgings will be a private wooden eco-cabin on the Villa estate, surrounded by nature, fruit trees and the occasional wild tortoise. You will also be able to share outdoor spaces with our guests, including the swimming pool and nature/yoga deck.
We're based in walking distance of Virpazar, a pretty little village by Lake Skadar.

You will be based in an extremely beautiful, rural area of Montenegro - Lake Skadar National Park - where you will be able to learn about and enjoy the incredible nature on our doorstep, as well as (during the season) learn to be a hiking and kayaking guide. And of course, we'll take you to some of the best secret beauty spots in our area. As little English is spoken here, except at our place (we're British!), you'll also get the chance to meet locals and learn a bit of the local language - Serbian/Montenegrin.

Help
We're looking for outdoorsy, nature-loving couples who can come help us run our activity holidays and guest accommodation. For the right people (you need to be as happy cleaning a guest bedroom as you are chatting with guests and staying in an eco-cabin!), this is an amazing opportunity which will need your commitment to stay at least a month.
During the tourist season (April-October) the role is chiefly to be our main house and groundskeepers, with support from us when needed (eg. on guest changeover days). Daily tasks involve getting up early (7am starts) to water the plants, feed and cuddle our 11 chickens, maintain the swimming pool (which involves using it too!), sweep, clean and tidy outside and communal areas like the yoga deck and guest kitchen/living room. Twice a week, there's a clean to do of the villa. There'll also be a chance to help out with our tours, e.g. assisting with driving, or preparing kayaks, and going along as an extra pair of hands.
There will also be some gardening to do (strimming, pruning and maintaining our veggie garden), guest bedrooms to prepare and bicycle maintenance.
In return, we offer not only a basic wage, but you'll get to the chance to go kayaking and hiking with our guests to some amazing places, most of them hidden well away from the standard touristy places.
Please note, good English is essential!

We provide a basic wage of €520 per couple per month, as well as use of a car when available, bikes and a kayak. We require both of you to have a decent level of physical fitness, fluent English and a full and clean driving licence. Experience of kayaking, hiking & property maintenance is desirable, as is a love of nature and the outdoors (insect and snake phobes, this is not the place for you!).
When it comes to hours, we ask our Workawayers to be flexible. Some days are longer than others - sometimes you might be done for the day by 09:00! It averages out to 4 hrs a day, 5 days a week and with a whole National Park to explore on your free days as well as the stunning Adriatic coast just a half hour away.

Feb/March - an en-suite room in our guesthouse.
Apr-Oct - a private wooden eco-cabin with double bed in the grounds of the Villa estate, surrounded by nature and fruit trees. The eco-cabin is basic but comfortable, with a kitchenette, outside space & BBQ, plus access to a shower/WC with hot running water. You will also be able to enjoy the same outdoor facilities as our guests, such as the swimming pool and yoga deck.
We provide internet access via a mobile modem, a 4x4 you can use when it's available, as well access to mountain bikes and a kayak.
What else ...
You will be based in a National Park, so the perfect place for anyone who loves hiking, kayaking and nature photography. Virpazar, which is a 20 minute walk from us, has a train station and buses with good connections to the capital city Podgorica (30 mins) and Bar on the coast (also 30 mins).
