Description
Welcome to our unique project in central Serbia! Our place is surrounded by abundant nature with no neighbours but the mountains, and sits in the shadow a medieval fortress that has been inaccessible for 50 years. We now provide access by driving the boat and maintain the fortress so that tourists can see this exciting part of history.
The project began when we acquired the land in 2022. We make our living from tourism, and put effort into making this a magical place to visit. There are two parts to our project: the commercial tourism and the Rural Cultural Centre.
This year we are focussing on opening a Kafana (a tavern) for visitors, developing the Cultural Centre and continuing to renovate accommodation.
Around us, in the famous Lilac Valley, we have a cooling waterfall, a beach watching the green river curve into the distance, and an animal farm home to goats, ponies, with sheep and donkeys soon to join us.
We are now looking for strong-spirited volunteers who are keen to get on board with the idea. Above all, you will be part of an initiative to bring cultural life back into the rural area. You will see how we can respect the land and bring it to life.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will be living as part of an ever-growing, international community. In the summer, there is a big mix of crowds living with us and helping us. We cook and eat together, and relax in the waterfall after work. Many lasting friendships have been made, and you can get to know the locals that come and share rakija with us.
We are uniquely placed under the fortress, a significant part of Serbia’s rich and turbulent history. Our very own archeologist will chat will you about what this place was like in yore.
Our friends from the surrounding villages make delicious young cheese, kaymak, ham, blackberry wine, plum rakija and many other delicacies. We sell them to visitors and treat ourselves.
We run regular events and workshops in our Cultural Centre. We offer mushroom foraging, traditional drumming, making rakija amongst others. If you’d like to share a skill, we can gather the troops.

We are building bunkbeds out of driftwood for our accommodation. Our construction manager, Marko, will be working alongside you. If you have any experience, drop us a message!
- Raft driver
If you are strong, fit and with nautical inclinations, this is the one for you. We need someone responsible to cross visitors from one side to the other. You will become stronger and possibly get on TV.

Accommodation
Winter:
Two traditional mountain houses with furnaces and a modern bathroom. Accommodates max. 5 volunteers.
Summer:
Volunteers house (old railway guard house) near the waterfall. Very basic amenities. Accommodates max. 8 people.
Cosy attic of a stone barn in the cultural centre. Next to communal kitchen. Very basic amenities. Accommodates max 6. people.
Campsite under the plum trees. Those with tents can pitch here.

The nearest shop is 6 km away, but if you need anything we can always grab it since we do go to a local town daily

We work 5 hours a day Wed - Sun.
We provide 3 meals per day. Vegetarian options available.
Electricity and drinking (hot)water are available.
Mobile data 10G is about 5 euro on Yettel prepaid SIM cards.
Nearest shop is 6km away. We go to town regularly for supplies.
The property is just 22km from the town of Kraljevo, half an hour away by bus available during the whole day if you feel like having a draft beer, meeting some locals, or partying for the weekend.
On the way to town, you can check out the grand XII century monastery, where our 7 Kings were crowned in medieval ages, and it's just 10 min of walking from grandma's house.
For hikers, there is a 7/8 hours trek starting from a property that leads to the peak of the mountain Stolovi where wild horses freely live for decades, as well as a medieval trek up the creek throughout the untouched nature with waterfalls and natural pools.
Lots of natural swimming pools, gorgeous creeks & waterfalls.
Tubing and rafting are available too, and we are loving it.
We tend to work hard and enjoy life in the same manner when a proper opportunity arises.
