This was my first Workaway experience, and I couldn't have wished for it to be any different. I think one thing sums it up quite well... I had planned to stay for a month, but in the end, I stayed for a little over two months, and even that felt too short. I had an incredibly great time with Jen and her family. I learned a huge amount during this period because Jen entrusted me with a lot of responsibility and allowed me to work very independently. It's a perfect place for people who don't mind getting to work. The farm work didn't feel like work to me, as I really enjoyed completing all the tasks. Jen and her family made incredibly great experiences possible for me, and all I can say is that I miss the time already! Thank you for letting me spend this wonderful time with you and your family, Jen!

Staying with Imogen wasn’t originally in our travel plans. But oh how the Universe works in mysterious and, in many cases, much needed ways. Imogen has created a beautiful oasis in Sligo County and she has such a deep connection with her land and you can feel that from the moment you interact with her. She has a respect for her gardens and the wildness contained within. We both learned so much from Imogen. She taught us to listen to that still voice inside us and within the plant or the land. She taught us to let the land teach us and to be open to what it is we need to learn and share. Imogen was so willing and open to drive us to various places she loved or to give advice on places to experience and see. She wanted to make sure we soaked up all we could of the area and the many things to see and do. We had the incredible opportunity to help with an adopted kitten. This little kitten was such a needed blessing for us, as we have been missing our own cat. This sweet soul instantly warmed to us and to Imogen and the three of us became the momma this sweet kitty needed. All three of us fed, monitored the health and wellness of the kitty and of course, played plenty with the sweet bundle. Our tasks outside of helping to take care of the kitten included a wide variety of inside and outside jobs. Imogen did a great job of communicating with us about things she needed help with and saw that needed attention. We would have meetings in the morning, not every morning, but as needed, to discuss how we were and what tasks we thought we might address and any additional tasks she had. This way of communicating was so helpful to us because it helped us to prioritize the day and/or the week. The work was very rewarding and we learned so much!! We were able to learn and identify different types of trees, plants and weeds. Imogen shared with us her vision of what she was trying to do with the land and then we worked accordingly. This was by far one of the most rewarding months we have had. We knew we had a safe space with Imogen to discuss any issues or miscommunication and that was so great! It was nice to have an environment of mutual respect and kindness. Thank you Imogen for the love you gave us and showed us. Thank you for teaching us to be open to the land and what we can learn from it. Thank you for helping us to see that ALL beings are valued and important, whether they be spider beings, or kitten beings. Thank you for sharing your love of Ireland and the area, we are so grateful we got to experience all we did! You are an incredible human and we are so grateful our paths crossed.

I spent 1 month with this fantastic family and it was one of the best experience as a volunteer that I ever had! They made me feel part of them in their home, I really felt comfortable all the time! I have been helping them with the garden, almond harvest and other small duties with plants, and was very nice to help them. I also enjoyed the time that I spent playing ping pong and cards with their children, they are so friendly! I really recommend them to do a volunteering!

What a joy it was to have Janine stay with us! She fit right in and became a part of our family. From gathering, cleaning eggs, cooking amazing meals, trying her hand at making Galettes, and rolling pretzels, she did not shy away from learning new things! We had wonderful conversations, learning new things from each other. Highly recommend Janine to any future hosts

Having Shaina, Roxy and little Anouk with us for a month was a real blessing.😍 Their presence has been joyful, radiant, and deeply transformative for our community. Shaina brought with her an incredible wealth of experience in community building, nonviolent communication and group processes. Her support helped us reorganize and grow with clarity and care.. And she also plays and teaches pois! Roxy nurtured the soul of the place with her magic drinks, presence, joy, and loving attention to the group’s wellbeing.. Not to mention her technical skills! They were both always open to dialogue, deeply listening, and sharing wisdom in a way that never felt heavy, always with lightness, humor and love. Anouk 💙 sweet and playful is a rainbow girl! She managed to integrate beautifully with our children, sharing games and even some spontaneous English lessons. So gentle, caring and wise beyond her age. We shared songs, dances, ideas and long moments of deep connection. It’s hard to put into words what this encounter meant to us, but we can honestly say: they became pillars of our circle. With all our hearts, we hope to see them again 🙏 soon or someday. Until then: may your journey continue with beauty, wonder and love💕

I am so grateful that our first workaway was with Tomás and Johanna. They were incredibly welcoming and we felt so taken care of in the busy Mexico City. I found the work rewarding and worthwhile, teaching us new skills each day. They taught us how to navigate the city and introduced us to the best food of our lives! As beginner Spanish learners, they were incredibly helpful with improving our language skills. I'm so excited to see her bakery when it is finished. They have a lovely home near one of the most beautiful parks we have ever been to, and they are also right next to the Metrobuses that give you access to the whole city. -Logan and Sunshine Thank you, gracias, danke!

It was an absolute pleasure hosting Caolan, Maria, and the gorgeous bundle that is Mila, their pup. They were only here for 2 weeks and for me it flew by. They did more than their fair share of work, using initiative, humour and common sense, and on top of that helped with all the tasks that come with sharing a space together - cooking, cleaning, organising. They are polite, respectful, hardworking, interesting people with great senses of humour and we had fun going out and about to all the social events happening around here. I wish you all the best with what's left of your holiday time, folks, and if you are ever back this way again, you would be welcomed with open arms. Take care, enjoy your travels, and thank you so, so much for everything🤗🤗

It was a wonderful time spent with Eliot! Such a friendly guy — he helped us a lot in our art space. He immediately became involved in our and our friends’ art life, spending time with us, helping out, and having fun together.

This was my first Workaway and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The place itself is out of this world, with a fantastic view to Mount Ararat and an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. My partner and I helped with harvesting some nuts and fruit, as well with preparing breakfast and events for guests. The whole team made the experience even more special with how they welcomed us. Aigul and Igor always made sure we felt comfortable, offered for us to do banya sessions, and even went the extra mile to take us to visit the best sites in Garni. All these things made us extend our stay, and we’d even have stayed longer if we could. It was hard to say goodbye! My partner and I even made a YouTube video about it ;)

I stayed with Cam and Bill as my first Workaway and I can easily say it exceeded all of my expectations! I felt welcome basically as soon as Bill picked me up from the bus stop. The friendly and warm energy they cultivate was honestly a breath of fresh air after travelling alone for quite a while. The work was also really energizing because the tasks were consistent, varied, and interesting. I never knew it would be so satisfying watching ditches you've dug redirect water exactly where you want it. The few property improvements I worked on also really put my strength and building skills to the test. The constant stream of coffees and snacks combined with the delicious food the hosts and other volunteers were whipping up meant it was probably the best I'd been eating all year. Despite their busy schedules, Cam and Bill always made time to chat and engage in the volunteer banter which always peaked at the dinner table. Keep digging for those conspiracy theories Bill!!! Thanks so much, till next time! -Devon

Molly came to the rescue when we were short on workers for a few days. Like an angel. ; -) She is the sweetest, nicest ever and i am very very thankful for the help. If you get the chance to host her you should go for it. She is the best.

We spent twelve wonderful days with Peter and Penny at their beautiful home. We really enjoyed the work that we did with Peter and Penny. We always worked at a comfortable pace, working as a team when necessary. Some of the tasks included turning over the vegetable garden, making hot compost, installing small water tanks and trimming olive trees. We generally worked from 8am-1pm, with a coffee and biscuit break in between. Penny is a wonderful cook, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunches together out on their verandah, enjoying the view and the delicious food. We really appreciated having the chance to learn some regional Italian recipes with Penny, cooking together was one of the highlights of our stay. For breakfast and dinner, Peter and Penny kept us well stocked with breads, meats, cheeses, fruits and wine. We would often eat outside on the verandah of our house, enjoying the sunset and the company of Fred the dog and all the cats. During our stay we had our own house, just next to Peter and Penny’s. We also had use of their pool, which was great on a hot day after working outside, or just nice to relax. On our days off we visited Matera, Miglionico and Craco. Peter and Penny kindly drove us into Matera and we got to spend the day exploring the old city. They also showed us around their local village of Miglionico and introduced us to lots of their friends, which was really nice. Peter and Penny have a wealth of knowledge about Basilicata and Italy from their years of travels there and it was fascinating to hear about the history and their personal experiences. We would absolutely recommend Peter and Penny to other Workawayers. We would love to return one day!

Clara is now what we can call a very dear friend. She's a treasure. I would describe her as contemplative, easy going, introvert and very grateful person. She's got a child's pure soul and so she's happy to do whatever activity ! Talk to her about spirituality, sports, community life, nature ;) We are so grateful she came to see us twice this year!! Can't wait to see you again, lots of love from LPB ;)

My first Workaway experience ever. Have never done woof or helpX or anything like it before. And I couldnt have asked for a better place to land and I was there for 3 months! Fleur is a Pro! she hosts and does her thing effortlessly. She is very generous and understanding and has her priorities and needs figured out. I will miss this family and plan to stay in touch. They have a big Wonderful family (and the kids can be a little rambunctious) but it was a joy to be around. 5 stars all around. p.s Wicklow is a beautiful county. underrated as far as all the travel advisors go.

My stay with Miguel was truly an incredible experience that left a mark on my life. I’m leaving a piece of my heart in that place. Meeting Miguel taught me the real meaning of generosity. He always shared his kindness, introduced us to his friends, and treated us like part of his own family. He opened the doors of his hostel with full trust and offered us everything without hesitation. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience and encourage everyone to meet Miguel. He always has something interesting to talk about, a story to tell, and a laugh to share.

I've finished this workaway just one week ago, staying there for one month: IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. From Justus and his friends I've learned a slower and more satisfying way of living: I've almost never been asked to do stuff unless I wanted, but there were always tasks to do to challenge oneself. The accomodation was nice and the whole region is beautiful if you like running (and if you have good knees). Even when Justus had some problems that he had to face, he still cared a lot to give us what was needed and a good experience. Me and another workawayer stayed some time with some friends of Justus, Amon and Tina, that have been really nice and a good example of a lovely german couple, with their lovely dog. If you want to know more about plants and nature, for sure Justus is the right host for you (even if you don't want to know actually).

I spent the most beautiful 3 weeks volunteering here and I felt so welcomed here from the very beginning! The work consisted of 4 hours per day, 6 days a week and was very simple front desk duties and left me with lots of time to surf and relax. I got to improve a lot on my Spanish here which I really appreciated too! Thank you so much Fío, Oscar and Mayra for making me feel at home here and always being so flexible and helpful!
