    About Us

We are Santi and Maria, a family living in Massarrochos, Valencia, Spain, with our son Lucas, who is now 6 years old. Santi is a photographer& Teacher , and Maria is a university lecturer in Events. We love good food, cooking together, nature, sports, music, and enjoying life. We have plenty of experience with Workaway and love meeting people from different places and sharing experiences.

    Our Project

Our current project is to turn a beautiful three-bedroom house, just 100 metres from Malvarrosa Beach, into the perfect little seaside getaway. We are doing everything ourselves, but we need an extra pair of hands to help us bring our vision to life!

We are looking for someone who can stay for **at least three weeks** and help us with the many tasks still waiting to be done. We need a practical, hands-on person willing to help with some light, general home repairs.

Above all, we value initiative, creativity, good taste, and a positive attitude. If you enjoy working with your hands and helping transform a house into a cosy, welcoming place by the sea, we would love to hear from you!

Lucas is part of our family life, of course, but **we are not looking for childcare**. Our focus this time is on our little renovation project and sharing a great experience with someone who enjoys practical work, good food, and good company.

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

We are an open-minded, welcoming family who love sharing our culture, learning from others, and creating meaningful connections that go beyond the Workaway experience.

We live in Massarrojos, a charming little town surrounded by the *huerta*, the beautiful agricultural landscape around Valencia. Here, you can walk among orange trees, discover artichoke fields and local vegetable gardens, and experience a more traditional side of Spanish life. We love nature, outdoor adventures, and exploring new places. At the same time, Valencia city centre is just 20 minutes away by direct metro, so you can enjoy everything this vibrant Mediterranean city has to offer!

We love socialising, sharing meals, cooking together, meeting friends, and introducing people to our local lifestyle. You’ll have opportunities to practise Spanish, discover Spanish food and traditions, meet local people, and explore the area with us.

There is also plenty we can share professionally. Santi is an engineer, a teacher of electronics and mechanics, and a photographer, so he can share his technical and creative skills. Maria is a university lecturer and professional in event management, tourism, and communication, and she’ll be happy to exchange knowledge and experiences with anyone interested in these fields. And, of course, we can all learn from your own culture, skills, ideas, and experiences!

We have already hosted several Workawayers, including Sofia, Leonela, Simone, Andrea, and Madeline, and the experience has been wonderful. Sofia, from Italy, and Madeline, from France, became such good friends that they now live together in Valencia! Madeline still visits us every week. Our relationship has grown far beyond volunteering: she has become part of our family and a big sister to Lucas. Andrea and Simone, both from Italy, also spent several weeks with us working on small home projects, and we loved having them around.

These experiences have shown us that cultural exchange is about much more than helping with a project. It is about sharing everyday life, learning from one another, laughing together, discovering new perspectives, and building friendships that can last for years.

We hope our next Workawayer will become part of this little adventure too. We are a family who loves good food, good conversations, music, nature, and having fun. We have plenty of hospitality to share and are excited to welcome someone new into our home, learn from them, and create another great experience together!

Join us in creating a beautiful seaside getaway in Valencia!

We’re transforming our three-bedroom apartment, just 100 metres from Malvarrosa Beach in Valencia, into a beautiful seaside getaway, and we’d love to share the final stages of this project with someone who enjoys being part of a creative journey!

The main renovation work has already been completed by professional tradespeople. What remains are the smaller finishing touches that will bring the apartment to life and make it feel like a welcoming, beautiful home. These tasks may require some practical experience, but above all, we’re looking for someone with enthusiasm, a proactive attitude, creativity, and a willingness to get involved and share ideas.

We know how to do the things that remain, so we’re not looking for someone to take over the work or replace a professional. We’re looking for someone to accompany us on the journey!

We believe that even the simplest tasks become much more enjoyable when shared, and we love the idea of working together, exchanging ideas, learning from each other, and having fun along the way.

Santi is an engineer and a teacher of electronics and mechanics, and we both enjoy practical projects and finding creative solutions. We’d love to share our knowledge and experience with you, while also discovering your ideas, skills, culture, and perspective. For us, Workaway is first and foremost about cultural exchange, mutual learning, and the connections we make along the way.

A little practical note: The apartment may still be dusty following the renovation work, so please bear this in mind if you have any dust allergies.

You’ll initially stay with us in our spacious family home in Massarrojos, where you’ll have your own private room, a patio, a paella area, and plenty of musical instruments. We’ll travel together to the apartment each day. As the apartment becomes ready, you may even have the opportunity to stay there and enjoy the seaside home we’ve brought to life together!

We love sharing our home, discovering different cultures, exchanging experiences, and learning from the people we meet. We hope to share good food, conversations, music, and Mediterranean life, while making the final stages of this project a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

We’re particularly looking for someone travelling from Europe who has European healthcare coverage in case medical assistance is needed during their stay.

If you enjoy hands-on projects, have some practical experience, bring a proactive attitude, and believe that working together makes everything more enjoyable, we’d love to meet you!

On the ground floor, we have a large entrance hall, a living-dining room, a huge kitchen, a bathroom, and a bike storage room. There is also a patio and a separate outdoor area with our paella cooker and laundry facilities, perfect for enjoying meals outdoors.

Upstairs, you’ll find the bedrooms, a dedicated workspace, and another bathroom. We also have a rooftop terrace where you can relax and enjoy beautiful sunsets!

Your own private room will have a double bed, a huge wardrobe, views of the patio, heating, and a fan to keep you comfortable throughout the year. ( check pictures, please)

And yes, we still have Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime, HBO, and all the essentials for a cosy evening at home! 😊

  • Algo mais...

    Algo mais...

Although our current Workaway project is focused on renovating our beach apartment rather than childcare, we think it’s important that you get to know Lucas, because he is a big part of our family life!

Lucas is now six years old: a bright, curious, and energetic little boy who will make every effort to communicate with you, no matter how different your language may be. He loves meeting people and sharing his enthusiasm for the world around him. He enjoys playing with balls, going on bike rides, watching trains, and, more recently, playing chess. We have one small request: please let him win occasionally! 😉

    Our Family and Lifestyle

Santi is the creative soul of the family. He loves cooking, photography, music, and playing the guitar and drums. He speaks Spanish, English, French, and a little Russian, and has travelled to many countries. We also love travelling together as a family and discovering new places.

Maria studied Tourism, Advertising, and Public Relations and holds a PhD in Tourism. She works as a university lecturer at a private university in the centre of Valencia, where she teaches Event Management. She loves cycling and always rides her bike to work! She is the organised one who enjoys planning, making lists, and paying attention to every detail, although she also knows when to switch off and enjoy life as it comes. She speaks Spanish, English, and Valencian, our local language.

We are a very Mediterranean family: affectionate, sociable, and passionate about sharing food, laughter, hugs, and time together. Our extended family is very important to us. Santi’s parents live just ten minutes away, and Maria’s family lives in Benicàssim, a beautiful coastal town about 65 km away. We visit them regularly and love spending time with Maria’s siblings and our two nieces, Nadia and Ivet.

What Can You Do in Your Free Time?

We live in Massarrojos, a charming village surrounded by Valencia’s traditional agricultural landscape, with orange groves and vegetable fields. It’s a lovely place to enjoy a slower pace of life while remaining close to the city.

Valencia city centre is approximately 20 minutes away by direct metro, making it easy to explore its historic streets, museums, markets, architecture, restaurants, nightlife, and famous Mediterranean beaches. You can also discover nearby towns, go cycling, enjoy nature, or take day trips along the coast.

Our beach apartment is just 100 metres from Malvarrosa Beach, in a lively neighbourhood full of shops, supermarkets, cafés, and local life. As the renovation progresses, you may even have the opportunity to enjoy the apartment yourself during your stay.

We’ll be happy to share our favourite places, recommend excursions, introduce you to local food and traditions, and help you discover Valencia beyond the usual tourist attractions.

Above all, we want you to feel welcome, have plenty of time to explore independently, and enjoy a genuine cultural exchange. We love meeting people from different backgrounds, learning from their experiences, and creating friendships that last long after the Workaway stay ends.
