I had a lovely stay for a few weeks at Imogens beautiful place. I was able to park my motorhome in her field in exchange for some gardening work and helping the local farmer fence the field for grazing sheep with whom I had the pleasure of sharing the space with for a few days :) The land at Imogens has been lovingly cared for and there is lovely
… read more sense of peace everywhere you go, through the planted woodland. It's an oasis of peace and just what I needed, so if you're looking for a bit of sanctuary I would certainly recommend a stay.

… read more lucky to see it blossoming in spring, as well as getting to eat fresh salads from the polytunnel. Imogen is also a wonderful cook and if you get to taste her meals you’re in for a treat! She taught me how she makes her sourdough bread as well which was quite fun to learn. Joanne stayed with me for a month and skillfully adapted to the daily routines and changing requirements for the house and land. She took over the care of my polytunnel, and garden and which was a huge relief for me, painted and spring cleaned inside the house,cooked, and even spotted health issues with the cat.

Oh what a wonderful and heartwarming stay I had with Imogen!
She's an incredible woman, and from our first chat I knew I had to meet her. I stayed for a week, but it felt like longer - it was deep time, not the fast-paced chronological time we get forced into. I felt welcome from the start, and knew we would understand each other well.

… read more was very clear about the tasks she needed doing and let me get them done at my own pace and time, which is also my preferred way of helping. Communication was excellent and she was always grateful for the help that got done! I got to wash the politunnel and geodome and do some weeding, all of which I enjoyed and found very meditative. The land she's in (and that she's listened to to let it become what it needs) is subtle and very alive and attentive.
We have very similar interests and we were both in a learning and writing phase so it worked out great. After I was done helping I was able to get some writing done (with inspiration from the amazing books she shared with me), go explore nearby beaches by bike, or cook nutritious meals for us with veggies from her tunnel. We laughed, sang, and got our feet and hands dirty. It was a great experience and I leave grateful and knowing I will be back.Comentário

Cesar stayed with me for 10 days and it was an absolute delight to have him as a guest. I had a wish list of very varied jobs that I thought he might choose from, including building a complicated porch for my geodome, cutting wood, simple plumbing, moving furniture and more. Cesar is very skilled and creative with wood and construction and able to problem solve. He takes pride in doing a good job and I found him naturally generous and very easy to share space with. He is very knowledgeable in his own sphere of expertise - wildlife and ecology and appreciative of the simplicity of walks and forays in nature.
I cannot recommend him enough as an interesting, talented, helpful and respectful guest.

Fergus and Mary stayed for just a week with me, but in that time, I felt helped in the most helpful of ways without even having to ask for what I needed. … read more places for sitting and enjoying and they enhanced these places in many ways. I couldn't believe that they did the amount of work that they did in the short time they were with me.
They are a shining example of what teamwork should look like. I was inspired in many ways and learnt from their wisdom.
They made me a woodshed out of scavenged materials from around the house and garden, which brought me to tears when I arrived home and saw it standing in its recycled beauty. I put a bench in it and don't quite think I can consign it to being just a woodshed!
We had good fun together, interesting chats, and shared delicious meals. Mary made some beautiful sweet treats using raspberries from the garden.

She kindly cooked many of our evening meals and quickly understood the ethos of reciprocity and respect for the land that I am trying to foster here. I was able to leave her to look after the house while I was away for a weekend. While I was away, she did a great job also in cleaning the bathrooms and sitting room and I was great to come back to a tidy house. She spent some time helping out with my three year old grandchild and was able to make a really good connection with him in a short space of time. She was flexible and happy to run with my changes of plans as the weather permitted or didn't permit. We fell into a good working rhythm and by the end of her stay, many important tasks that I had needed done were completed, and we had some fun along the way.

… read more and some general housework. The reason for me to work gladly in Imogen's garden was for once that I saw the great appreciation from Imogen's side for my help but also that I connected more and more with the land and nature while I was tending to it.
I learned so much from Imogen and her garden and I am very grateful for this experience.
She made sure I was comfortable, had all the foods that I liked, and took care of me in general.
Her garden is spectacular with lots of hidden seating areas to settle down and meditate. Her poly tunnel provides lovely leaves and veggies for salads etc. Imogen took me to see some remarkable nature gems in the surroundings and there are lots of other beautiful places to be reached by bicycle.

These included completing the construction of a fruit cage, clearing brambles, bringing life back into a neglected part of my garden, general gardening, housework and cooking. At the same time, she was independent and happy to explore on her own and even showed me a local swimming place that I was unaware of.

Unfortunately I got very sick in the last week and wasn’t able to work at all, but Imogen was so kind to let me stay at her home until I was well enough to travel again. That was very generous of her and I am very grateful for that.

Hannah stayed with me for nearly two months. She was tidy, trustworthy and respectful of the shared physical space. … read more great help. She was also able to sequence a set of given tasks and work through them at her own pace. Aside from the last week of her stay when she was sick and unable to work, jobs in the house and light garden tasks for around three to four hours per weekday seemed to work best for her in the end. While her self reliance was an asset, sometimes she needed to consider and dialogue with me about the how, why and when of some things I asked her to do. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts to avert it, communication decreased during the last two or so weeks of the placement, with Hannah preferring to take space rather than engage in dialogue. I regret this as I take pleasure in guests having a rewarding experience. However I enjoyed hearing Hannah's very beautiful singing voice around the house, and she hosted a sound healing event at my place which was very well received. Thank you Hannah. I wish you every good thing in your onward journey.

What a wonderful stay I had at Imogen's cottage! I was there for one and a half weeks, mainly cutting and sorting firewood for the next season. Over the last ten years she created what may best be described as a tranquil oasis in her garden, containing lots of native plant species and a wonderful mix of order and natural chaos!

… read more of tools in perfect working condition, a fully equipped kitchen (with so many pots and hobs that you could literally cook 10kg of past at once), and a wonderful collection of musical instruments, there stood nothing in the way of my creativity. Imogen was keen on showing me the local culture and natural attractions, and she was happy to give me lifts to local events when it fit her schedule. We had many interesting conversations over dinner or while taking walks. She is such a kind soul and a really accommodating host and I wish I could have stayed longer :)

David likes structure and to be informed clearly what needs doing. He also also appreciates receiving constructive feedback and being able to offer same.
I learnt a lot from what I consider to be a very wise and knowledgeable young man. I found him to be great company and enjoyed good chats and sharing of music (he has a natural musical talent). He is a creative cook and I enjoyed a delicious meal and several other tasty offerings made during his stay.
He is also happy to structure his own spare time but is open to any introductions hosts can give him to the local music and cultural scene.
I would have no hesitation in recommending David, and he knows he will be welcome back should he choose to revisit this part of the world.

My contributions during my stay included gardening (strimming, hedge trimming, raking, weeding, watering, picking of fruit & veg, etc), as well as cleaning and organizing within the home. Imogen went out of her way to include me in her life's activities (if I wanted to be... which of course I did). We swam, went to a music session, went hiking, did yoga and much more. She is an exceptional vegetarian cook and taught me a few new recipes. She shared her biodiversity and environmental goals for her beautiful property. She is an excellent teacher and a fabulous person with a lot to share.
The house is in a fairly rural location, but the bus is only about a 1/2 mile away. 20 min or so by car to Sligo.
