tl;dr - a nice welcoming place with good accommodation. Most of the work is gardening and building/maintenance, If you are primarily looking for community and activities its good to find some people and connections outside this workaway, otherwise it might not be the right place for you. I had a really nice time with Chris, Manu and Laura. For me the accommodation was very nice, and I saw them doing their best to make sure I have a good place to stay, Installing and fixing things that were missing or broken. I had the most contact with Chris, who is very welcoming and open to make a connection, and occasionally had some nice conversations with the other residents. The people here are primarily minding their own business, and although occasionally one came over for a conversation, or to explain something, I would recommend to find your own activities and social life. I mostly worked independently, doing some tasks on the land that took a longer time. I was looking for some physical work, and definitely found it, I felt like I could make some good progress. :) they are gardening a lot here. there was really nice fruit from the garden!

We spent 6 days with my partner and our baby with this familly. The experience was excellent, and we really enjoyed discovering Swiss culture and getting to know this lovely family and their dogs. The surroundings are spectacular, the train connections are excellent, and the cultural exchange we had was very positive. We hope to repeat the experience in the future. Highly recommended!

Mara Alexandra is extremely kind, she's helped us a lot making grapes' jam, harvesting olives and preparing them for "olive ammaccate calabresi", sterilising jars and bottles, keeping the house cleaned, preparing the meals, and so on. Simple things but done in a great way. Very helpful and nice!

Having Pisga stay with us was a true gift. From the moment she arrived, she brought a calm, kind, and uplifting energy. Her background as a Pilates instructor, yoga teacher, really shines through in her mindful, centered way of being. She approaches life — and every task — with grace, presence, and genuine care. Pisga was always willing to help wherever needed, and she did so with a positive attitude and thoughtful attention to detail. She is wonderfully adaptable, comfortable in nature, and brings a peaceful balance to the environment around her. Beyond her skills, Pisga is simply a beautiful person to share space with. She values meaningful connection, enjoys learning, and has a warm curiosity about the world that makes conversations with her a real joy. I feel so grateful to have hosted her and would welcome her back anytime. Any future host would be incredibly lucky to have Pisga join their project — she brings light, wisdom, and a genuine hear.

Michael is truly an incredible guy. A professional mechanic by trade so of course an absolute blessing to have around, and it was also such a valuable educational experience for me to work alongside him...i felt like i learnt a lot! A genuine and very generous human being, and super fun to have around. He shared with us many nice games and stories which was a really nice contribution to the group dynamic and atmosphere. Overall is was a real pleasure to have Michael here with us, the kids also enjoyed it very much, and we are forever grateful for the good times we shared together. I hope that this was the first of many more good times to come! Until next time! Thank you for everything!!

From the moment I arrived, Daniel went out of his way to make sure this was an incredible time! I felt really comfortable and appreciated having my own space. There was a such a good balance between work and free time, and I had plenty of opportunities to explore different parts of Malta on my own. The communication was clear, and the expectations around the boat tasks were easy to understand. The work itself was super straightforward and totally manageable! Overall I couldn’t recommend this experience enough. I’ll always cherish the time I spent on the boat and I’m so grateful for this experience :)

So nice to have with Uma with us during that lovely week in September! We had a great time! Uma is a great person - very easygoing and fun to have around, and she's an excellent worker. We appreciated her help a lot. She mainly helped with removing an old fence which she did very well. We all enjoyed her company very much and we hope to see her again!

We spent last April with Caroline and Anthony in their wonderful Tuscan villa. They welcomed us with great hospitality and kindness. We carried out various projects, both in the garden and outside the house, such as building arches to create a shaded path from the villa to the pool. In addition to the tasks, the discussions and evening socializing were particularly enjoyable. We can never thank Caroline and Anthony enough for making this first Workaway experience an unforgettable one. We look forward to seeing you again one day.

It's seems it's been long time already, miss all this beautiful family! So Girirsh. It is really difficult to find someone that actually cares and dedicate love to help others, in this case the animals and being open to talk about how the humans can be so mean, and this is not only with the rescued animals, he also take care of the ecosystems in his farm, being as much organic as possible, creating a very smart system of plantation to not destroyed anything or anyone. My experience with Girish was very fulfilling, Girish accepted my last minute request and saved me in the moment I really needed it. I got into a big house with a huge garden/farm, a semiprivate room (because we shared to toilet inside) and the most important: the family, Mom, Sally and all those cute ladies doggies + Pilot and Tom Tom. Plus 3 more outside doggies. It was a place full of love by the gang + all the food love delivered by Mom and Sally. It was breakfast, lunch and dinner and mom make sure I could tried all different kerala's breakfasts during my stay, sooooo delicious. About the work, there is always something to do there, so in my case I talked to Girish to settle which project we were going to work on (I like to feel that I actually help on something). so I recommend to anyone who go, sit to set the schedules to get it organized as it was with me. In my case we work together on weeding, made some garden beds and at the last days we ended up helping an street dog who needed help (now it's part of the family, his name is doginho), this was my first experience dealing with something like this and I can say WOW Congratulations for the beautiful work and dedication on taking care and actually worryng about the animals. I think I have no specific negative comment at all. I can say it is a really quite neighborhood so you may not find to much to do around, but you can always walk to the main street looking for more interaction or movement. So I super recommend you to go and volunteer here, you will get delicious food, nice talks, lots of doggie cuddles and connection with the earth. Thank you Girish and all, it was amazing :)

Dear Andrew, we are very grateful to you! The kids just said yesterday how much they miss you and how cool your classes were. Thank you for everything — you’re always welcome to come back anytime. Andrew is an excellent person. We had a great time with him; he’s very professional and always reliable. He may look a little serious at first, but trust me, his sense of humor is amazing! I highly recommend Andrew for any project — he’s a genuinely good person. Big hugs, Andrew, and stay cool!

I had the chance to stay at Il Nido together with a friend, just after a very intense experience we had in Malawi, Africa. Il Nido allowed us to slow down, reconnect with ourselves and with nature, and embrace a simpler, more mindful rhythm of life. It truly feels like a sanctuary for people in transition — a space to rest, heal, and rediscover direction. It offered the perfect environment to pause and reflect before moving on to the next chapter of our journeys. I’m deeply grateful to Askja for creating and holding space for this kind of experience. Il Nido gave us the grounding we needed, and I’ll always remember it as a place of reflection and gentle transformation. Thank you!

I spent almost two months with Philippe and Yann, and both during my stay and now, looking back on the past few weeks, my impressions are very positive and even evoke a little nostalgia. Both I and the other volunteers were welcomed into beautiful rooms, had access to wonderful, healthy meals prepared by Yann with the skill of a chef, a swimming pool, a large garden and everything the beautiful countryside had to offer. Working on the estate was challenging sometimes, but it also immensely enriched my practical skills and was always rewarding. It was also a time for mental reset and the right amount of physical exercise for my body, which I really needed. I had the opportunity to see and experience what it's like to bring a place shrouded in history back to life. I was able to improve my Italian simultaneously with my culinary skills with Yann's help and enormous patience. Exposure to the art that Philippe serves, gave me inspiration and rekindled my artistic spirit again! Add to that the trips to beautiful places, the countless aperitivos and hours spent chatting – I'll miss them! Ci vediamo!

I spent one week at Marco's place, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. He lives in a beautiful home with a permaculture garden, and his passion for nature and animals is truly inspiring. He is incredibly kind, hospitable, and made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. I stayed with him and his sweet cat, Bandita, which made the atmosphere even more comfortable and cozy. Every day, he prepared delicious vegetarian meals for me, which I really appreciated. His cooking was not only tasty but also healthy, and he shared his knowledge about food and sustainability. We also had enriching and deep conversations in Spanish, as he speaks a bit of Spanish, which made the experience even more enjoyable and meaningful. I left feeling grateful for the time spent in such a peaceful and welcoming environment. I highly recommend this Workaway opportunity to anyone looking to connect with nature and enjoy a truly authentic cultural exchange.

It was a great pleasure to welcome Guiseppe in our place during late February 2025. From day one, he proved to be reliable and committed to his work. He willingly took on a range of responsibilities, from woodworking to general maintenance — including tasks that were entirely new to him. Of course his young age leaves lots of potential for the future. He is a polite person that wants to learn. We are grateful for his sincere engagement. He is someone we recommend. Thank you so much for your flexibility and adaptability in the face of our challenges. Our doors will remain open to you.

I spent about ten days with Simon and his parents. I was very warmly welcomed! The whole family is incredibly kind and caring and have great sens of humour. I ate really well! Simon and his mother, Marita, are excellent cooks. I was lucky enough to enjoy some delicious pizzas made by Simon. The work was very varied, and I really appreciated the different tasks I was asked to do. The family is very grateful for the work done, which is really motivating. The dogs are very funny and keep you company while you work! Thank you for everything — I hope to see you again someday! Vincent

Every volunteer placement that I have had so far is better than the last and if I could give more than 5 stars from my stay in Galicia, I would.   I was lucky enough to spend just over a month with Javier, Lucia and Marta in their beautiful home. I had a fully culturally immersive experience. I attended 2 local festivals, (la Cucaña being one) and attended yoga with Marta. I also joined the family daily for a delicious home cooked lunch from Lucia on the veranda. Thank you for the Spanish lessons and including me so warmly in your lives.  In return I did around 4 hours a day of garden maintenance / painting.  These are genuine and generous people, interested in the world and sharing their way of life with others. I have lovely memories of my summer here, thank you so much!

It was a great pleasure to welcome Christian in our place during late summer 2025. It was his 2nd stay in our place! From day one, he proved to be exceptionally reliable and committed to his work. He willingly took on a range of responsibilities, from woodworking to general maintenance — including tasks that were entirely new to him. With remarkable resilience and modesty, he handled even the challenging situations with composure. Christian is a polite, silent and respectful person. We are deeply grateful for his sincere engagement. He is someone we recommend without hesitation. Thank you so much, Christian, for your flexibility and adaptability in the face of today’s challenges. Our doors will always remain open to you.

Salona and her family were wonderful hosts. They made me feel welcome in their home. Salona clearly communicated what she needed done (some unpacking and hanging some pictures). I also ate some meals with them. Salona is an excellent cook. I would highly recommend Salona and her family as excellent Workaway hosts. Also conversation was lively as I worked. They are wonderful people.
