This workaway was a great space to learn about how much life there is in the desert – it was an environment I’d been interested in visiting, but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did! And this was in part due to Gian’s infectious enthusiasm both for the nature itself and cultural relationships with nature. I got to experience this place in two extremes, and had fun on both ends – for a few days with other workawayers and couchsurfers, having lots of long and interesting conversations, and whilst Giancarlo was away for work, being able to have a lot of time to myself whilst volunteering with his family. There’s a calmness to this environment which I found to be great for taking some thinking and reflection time. Both Giancarlo and his parents are exceptionally kind people, easy to talk to and be around even when there were sometimes language barriers involved. If you’re heading to north Peru and looking for a real cultural exchange, couldn’t recommend this place enough! Thanks again!

I had wonderful days with Jaco and Alex. They are incredibly beautiful people, the work was pleasant, the location was wonderful. Physical and spiritual recharge. I can recommend everyone to visit them!:))

Actually, I didn’t intend to accept Martina’s request at first — but when I saw her cute picture and realized she was Spanish, I decided to squeeze her in between two other Workawayers. And that turned out to be the right decision! What made me happiest was how well she got along with the animals. She was responsible for walking them in the mornings and even introduced new games to Iva and Tom, which they absolutely loved. The way she interacted with both the dogs and the chickens made it clear she’s a true animal lover. Another important point for me was the chance to improve my Spanish. Martina was the perfect person for this, as she understands the challenges involved — having gone through a similar experience while learning English during her time in the UK. Thanks to her, I really made progress with my Spanish. But that wasn’t all: Martina was energetic, flexible, versatile and a pleasure to be around. No task was too much, too hard, or too tedious for her. She even cleaned my many windows with enthusiasm! Working alongside her was a lot of fun, and I could fully rely on her even when she was working independently. It was truly a joy to have Martina here, and it didn’t take long before I took her into my heart like a daughter. The four of us felt like a little family. If you're looking for a Workawayer who’s great with animals — I can guarantee that Martina is the best! We’re really looking forward to having her back. I’m not sure who’s more excited to see her again — me or the boys?

We were so lucky to have Aviv staying with us. It was such a great help having him! He was a very hard worker :D Whatever we asked him, he did without any problems:D He also had great ideas of his own and worked independently. He built us this beautiful stair case in the forest with full of precision. Also he was so good with all our animals which warms my heart! I can only recommend to any host :D and hope he will come back one day.

A week at Patrizia’s place was a true pleasure for us. The little village of Tatti may be remote and reached by many winding roads, but that’s exactly what makes it so charming. The views of the surrounding hills looked like something out of a Tuscany commercial. After several Workaway experiences, we have to say that the apartment Patrizia offers her guests is exceptionally comfortable, spotlessly clean, and prepared with love. Our time spent with Patrizia was also very enjoyable — we easily found a way to balance caring for our big family while being helpful with work around the house. The highlight of our stay was making homemade pasta together. Thanks to the fact that Patrizia speaks Czech, even our children — who don’t yet speak a foreign language — were able to interact with her, and that will surely be a special memory for them. Děkujeme!

Florine is an excellent Workawayer and was happy to get quite muddy while pulling out more & more weeds. We enjoyed having her at the orchard, and would be very happy to have her again in the future. After dinner we helped her with her English by playing Bananagram most nights!

I had a truly wonderful time with Laura and her family. From the very first day, I felt warmly welcomed and completely at ease. Laura is an exceptionally caring and generous person who always puts the needs of others before her own. The tasks and small chores she asked for were very reasonable and easy to manage. Her hospitality is outstanding ,she makes sure everyone feels comfortable and well taken care of. The trips, evenings, and heartfelt conversations I shared with Laura and her wonderful large family were full of warmth and joy. I have made friends for life here, and I am deeply grateful for that. I will gladly return whenever I have the chance.

All three of us can highly recommend Lynne and her dog Chico as hosts. The dog is as easy going as Lynne herself.We got a very warm welcome and it was lovely to stay with her.In fact we ended up staying with her twice and became friends!Her house is like a sanctuary, very quiet and peaceful with a great pool with that amazing view on the mountains.We all seem to enjoy eachothers compagny while working in the garden and during meals. There was always something to talk about and laugh about. Lynne's got a great sense of humour. Therefore she has lots of friends she is willing to introduce to you.So quickly it felt as if we were living there. Lynne loves to cook very healthy and delicious which is a proper treat after working! She is sincerely interested in you..so if you are looking for that connection, wanting to feel welcome and safe, enjoy chats and meals and in return you help her out in her garden..go for this host!

This was my first workaway and it was quite an experience. I'm a sailor and run a similar program to Alicia's so my experience might be quite different than others. I came out specifically to help with her Fall sailing camp. On my first day I got to join a local club sailing race and we won both of our races. We then had a day to prep (moving boats, dealing with some disagreeable vehicles!) and then ran 4 days of camp (9-3). I then had a couple of more days of some light help tasks to wrap up. Each camp day we met the kids and got them oriented, talked about the day, and then got them to rig the boats. Then we were out on the water with them working on different skills and enjoying the beautiful bay (dolphins!). I got to provide lessons, drive the safety boat, even jump into one of the small dinghy's at one point (not my finest moment). It was great to learn about Alicia's program and history with sailing. I also helped with a few odd jobs around the house and we ate a few meals together. I rented a car so I had a lot of freedom to explore the island. She had some good recommendations for places to go (and not to go!). Most afternoons I had time to go to the beach or explore a bit. But being on the water all day is pretty tiring, so most nights I was in bed pretty early. The porch tent was comfortable and I had full access to the kitchen and a bathroom. Alicia made me feel comfortable in her home and I think we worked well together to deliver a great week of sailing for the kids. This is a pretty physical workaway and it definitely helps if you have sailing interest and some experience. Also good to be handy with tools and equipment. Overall a great first adventure, and it has me itching to find other workaways around the world.

We were thrilled to have Fritzi and Domi around. Their optimism and positive attitude, their friendliness and openness made their stay like we were having good friends over for a looong weekend. We had the most interesting, thoughtful and often funny discussions about many different types of topics. And, I mean, having a pastry chef prepare a cake only for us :-) Fritzi and Domi brought in a bumper harvest of apples. As workers they were focused, well-organized and very thorough. The apple juice made from their harvest will whenever we drink it be a constant reminder of the stories and laughter we shared. These workawayers are top notch and come with our warmest recommendation. Fritzi and Domi, we wish you all the best for your future! Always safe travels!

Thank you so much for coming Stefany! Stefany stayed in her van for a month with her gorgeous dog 🐶 Achy! It was amazing having them around. Stefany can do pretty much anything! She's very handy with tools and construction. An amazing cook, her Italian cuisine is incredible 🤤🤤. In addition to that she was great help with landscaping and cleaning. Stefany does every job meticulously and efficiently. On top of this, she has a beautiful soul and a great character. It was treat and honour to have you around! It was very nice having Krisztian here. He is a very kind and modest man. He was able to help us in various ways. He helped in the garden and the surroundings but he was also a big help with our shepards hut project. He was able to put insulation underneath the wagon. He worked really precise and in odd angles and found some good ways to make it work with the materials we had. And we were very lucky he was with us, because we were organising a sharing festival. He helped whereever he could. Moving stuff, putting things together, anything... Krisztian is neat and tidy and cleans up after him self in the house, after meals and also after outside jobs. He puts the materials back in place. I was really pleased with his attitude, always ready to help. Thank you Krisztian, we hope to see you again some day.

This was my first workaway and it was an amazing experience! I stayed with Andrea, Allan and Chester for one month and time flew by so fast. They are so mind, always made sure I was comfortable and had enough time to explore surroundings and British Columbia after work and on my days off. The atmosphere was just as staying with family members, moreover, Andreas son Austin took me on awesome hikes and showed the beautiful nature. I never felt overwhelmed and was able to talk to them whenever I‘ve got a problem. They are very understanding, we had much fun together. I can recommend this host to everyone and I hope we stay in contact. Whenever I‘m around again, I have to meet up with these great people! Best regards from Lilly !

I literally loved my first experience with Leslie and Sean. They have been a real family to me and they continue to check in on me. Cuan is a nice boy who loves to play and cook and it has been great to be by his side during these few weeks. The little farm is really nice, there are lots of things to do, they adapted to my desires and also according to the weather. I will never thank them enough for what I experienced alongside them.

I stayed 3 weeks with Julio at his incredible restaurant. I wrote articles for his blog, taught English to the children of the employees, and worked in the garden. Everyone was extremely welcoming. I became close with the mothers who work in the kitchen, and their children. The food was delicious and healthy. The mission of this place is inspiring and is making a real difference within the Sacred Valley. I hope I can return here one day.

I stayed with Paula and her three wonderful children this summer. As soon as I arrived, the family was extremely welcoming and kind to me. I almost immediately felt like part of the family and never felt pressured or anxious. I spent most of my time with the youngest, Kate, who was playful, extremely funny, and cute. I also went on vacation with the family, and they made a great effort to give me a real Irish experience, teaching me about the country’s history and sharing many stories. I learned a lot and really appreciate the time I spent there.

Staying at the Farm was a great experience. The farm is in a beautiful location surrounded by pockets of forests and endless green fields. You can go on hikes and run through the forests which begin at the farm. Nala was an amazing host. She always made sure I was well looked after and she is a very open person. Nala will teach you [workawayers] many new skills and give you a lot of knowledge about animals, nature, gardening and farming. Volunteering at the farm is a lot of physical work but it is very rewarding. Thank you Nala for the great experience and for making the world a better place for all your animals!

I had an amazing experience in Florida. The organization has everything arranged professionally. The communication was good and they replied fast. Before you start working here you get an online training which helps you prepare well for the experience. The other volunteers and staff are amazing! It was a very positive atmosphere where you could feel like home because you could just be you. They do a lot of activities outside of workhours. Despite Workaway having most experiences for 4 hours a day, this Workaway is having 6-8 hours a day - so be aware of that. The work in the community is rewarding. Although I didn't had any experience, the staff and other volunteers took their time to teach me everything about the work/construction they did. All of them are helpful, kind, cool and inspiring people. You have to be aware that you will be working and living together for the amount of time you are helping/working here. For me I loved it. Overall this experience was one for the books. I learnt so much and met so many nice people. If you want to improve your skills and help the community this truly is a wonderful experience! Thank you all!
