Ursula was a rare combination of being incredibly chill AND incredibly hardworking. She was a joy to be around, adding fun, positivity, and good conversation to our nightly dinners. Ursula got to know the land, weeding garlic and helping with our seed starts and fall garden planting. She was a self manager: setting her own hours (early), then enjoying the rest of the day to paint, read, and enjoy the land, space, and place. She has many adventures and stories to share. We would heartily recommend Ursula as a guest and would welcome her back for a stay or a quick visit anytime!

We had the pleasure of hosting Thijs for several days, and it was an absolutely positive experience. He brought with him not only excellent carpentry skills but also a calm, grounded presence that made working together smooth and enjoyable. One of the standout contributions during his stay was the construction of an external wooden kitchen. From the initial planning to the final touches, he approached the project with both skill and creativity. His innovative ideas helped elevate the original concept into something much more functional and visually appealing than I had imagined. He worked with precision, always thinking ahead, and finding clever solutions to small challenges along the way. Beyond his craftsmanship, Thijs was respectful, self-motivated, and easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend Thijs to any host looking for a reliable, skilled, and thoughtful Workawayer.

We had an amazing stay in Haines Junction with Meghan and Ryan. We were warmly welcomed from the very beginning and felt right at home. We helped them plant carrots, beets, cilantro, basil, lettuce, and broccoli, and also helped with cooking, taking care of the animals, and other tasks. They let us join their daily life, taking us to Pine Lake for a swim and to Frosty’s for some delicious ice cream, and they gave us great recommendations for beautiful hikes. All the animals are very friendly, and we loved taking care of them. Meghan and Ryan’s children, Margaret and Benji, are wonderful. We’re so happy to have met them, played Uno together, jumped on the trampoline, and watched movies. Margaret often helped us ride the horses—she’s very comfortable with them and a great teacher. Benji often showed us his amazing LEGO creations. Meghan and Ryan are great parents and were very kind to us. We are truly grateful for their hospitality! Thanks to them, we were able to explore Haines Junction and Whitehorse, go on beautiful hikes, and see many wild animals, including a grizzly bear, a black bear, and elk. It was a fantastic Workaway experience, and we recommend them 100%! Thank you so much for everything you did for us!

What should I say? Jenny is a volunteer, you want to stay! She is absolutely kind, empathic, reliable, taking over responsibility, thinking not only one step ahead, independent and a team-player, grown up, balanced and you just have to like her. Jenny helped us a lot with the daily care of the farm-animals, with gardening&householding. She cooks delicious. She chopped a huge amount of fire-wood,although she claimed in the beginning, she would suck at pointing. Jennifer learns very fast, is a true listener and not afraid to try new things. During tasks she was as well observing what I was doing and could therefore tune in naturally and take over the next step,if needed-and she! sensed when it was needed. When I was in Bosnia for 12 days she took over for me, together with my friend Peter. It was very calming to have Jennifer around as a flatmate and I especially liked that we have a similar sense of still good-will, but teasing and around the corner-thinking-humor. And thank you, Jenny for each time speaking slower, whenever my American-slang-brain could not get your British accent🙈 Jenny is one of a few, who could live a farm-life constantly. She can see the joy and fullfillment in it. She is mentally and physically strong enough to embrace with love this pure way of life,so close to flourishment and death. We all hope, she will come back and stay for even longer. And she knows, she is more than welcome!

It is my pleasure to recommend Ms. Chanel, who volunteered as an English language instructor on the 120th Global Voyage (April 23 – August 9, 2025). Our project is a Japan-based NGO operating in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It promotes peace, sustainability, and cultural understanding through educational voyages that connect people from around the world. As part of this, the program provides on-board English and Spanish lessons, workshops, and intercultural events — and Chanel played an important role in its success. Chanel taught Beginner English classes and led a range of creative, community-based activities. Her lessons were energetic, well-structured, and student-centered as well as demonstrating patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills. She organized and hosted popular events such as Children’s Song and Dance and Travelling with Purpose, and collaborated on an engaging workshop exploring the differences between U.S. and Australian pronunciation and spelling. Her performing arts background shone through in her presentation skills and her ability to create enjoyable, meaningful learning experiences. Beyond teaching, Chanel was an active and positive member of the volunteer team. She assisted with the Kids Montessori program, contributed choreography for the Masquerade event, and was always willing to help where needed. She is reliable, punctual, and professional, while also bringing warmth, creativity, and humor to every project. Her energy and enthusiasm made her well liked by both students and fellow volunteers alike. In short, Chanel is a dedicated, motivated, and caring volunteer who approaches every task with passion and positivity. She would be an asset to any Workaway project or teaching opportunity that values initiative, teamwork, and cultural exchange. I recommend her wholeheartedly. Sincerely, Tanika Povea Mora

What a great stay we had at Joci's! On our travels, staying in Mali Iđoš and helping on the property, was precisely what we needed. The work was nice and we could arrange working hours ourselves. Mainly, we took care of the garden beds and prepared certain areas for the next season by weeding - a very satisfying task. Free time we got to spend in the hammocks or on the slackline. Also the little town and festival ground are worth a visit. Make sure to have some Strudla with walnut and a scoop of the silky ice cream. We are so happy to have stayed with Joci! He is generous, has a lot of interesting stories and thoughts to tell and is always open for chats. We learned quite a lot about the history of the surrounding region and its languages. Thank you Joci for taking us in so very kindly and spontaneously. We felt welcome and were happy to share time, space and a beer with you. It was a pleasure!

It was lovely to host Ashleigh - she was easy to work with and happy to help out with projects around the garden. She dealt with the recalcitrant puppy I was dog sitting and it was a pleasure to have her around.

It was so good to host Daniela and Pavel. They are 'can do' people who are happy to muck in with any kind of work. Both are very hard working and they helped transform the garden over the 3 weeks they spent here. Some of the work was pretty hard and demanding and we worked in the rain but they were positive and still enthusiastic to get going the next day! Daniela is a great cook and Pavel is an overachiever - still working on his day off while I was away, to finish a job, which was much appreciated. All in all it was a very good experience hosting them both and we had some good evening conversations... The main topic being Pavels lack of fish... may you catch one before you leave NZ! Cheers Dee

Salar is a very exciting man. He travels the country like a motorcycle knight, and you might think he's just an adventurer in search of something else. But appearances are deceptive. From the very beginning, he is a very understanding and caring person, a good listener who lends a helping hand. I once said to him: "You're faster than the police allow," that's what we say in Germany when someone has already done something shortly after being explained something. A true "doer" and not a "babbler" like most people. From the very beginning, we had very intense discussions about philosophy, psychology, and literature. I was delighted by his eloquence. Pure gardening can sometimes be a bit boring. It needs variety and spirit! This is precisely where, in addition to his technical talent, he can give many other hosts a true mental boost for more vitality and motivation.

I was very pleased with Cem. He is a very pleasant and calm person, attentive, and immediately understands what our daily work involves. We also had good conversations about astronomy, mathematics, and universal wisdom in our private time. He is a dedicated barbecue cook and also washes dishes. We created a fantastic brochure for a spiritual event together. Unfortunately, he had to leave early, but we'll see each other again! Thanks for your cooperation!

Wauw! Where to start? I'll start at the feeling of being welcome. I have never in my life felt so accepted and cherished by people, animals and nature as I have in the stunning community. I could be absolutely me, I felt free and my skills and help were appreciated. I really felt loved. Sardinia itself is also a place to fall in love with. What an amazing surroundings. But also on the land there is plenty of fun to do. Lots of big bouldering rocks, you can take a small hikes right in the backyard. There is a lot to discover on their grounds. I also really love and appreciate how they are connected to the earth and strive to take care of the land and the balance in nature. Gin is really funny and powerful singer, Johan is really sweet and a hard worker. I would definitely recommend a Workaway experience here!

Jan and Jenske were absolutely fantastic. This was their first Workaway experience, but they were so utterly professional that you’d think they’d done it dozens of times. They got through a massive amount of work inour 4 hectare garden, much of it high up on ladders, pruning vast ancient wisteria, climbing roses and vines. They tackled every task with a positive can-do attitude including a job I’ve waited over 20 years to do, namely clearing an attic of decades of stuff and giving it a darn good sweeping. They built a new log-pile, cleared the vegetable patch, tidied all the garden, lit huge bonfires, among a host of other tasks. Jan too was a great electrician, sorting out broken wall lights. All in all, they were both super-impressive. We were delighted that they made use in their downtime of our studio, creating impressive mini Rothkos. Throughout their stay, they were excellent company and quite exceptional on their last evening when they cooked a delicious Dutch supper for us. We highly recommend them to other hosts and hope they’ll come back to us again. They deserve a brilliant future.

Noir was amazing! She helped me with so many things. She is so sweet and lovely 😊 She’s absolutely wonderful with the children and toddlers! I loved her so much, I even invited her on our vacation up to Oregon 💜 She is a wonderful driver, and drove me the entire way up to Eugene, with stops in between and camping along the way! She also house sat for us, we trusted her with our house and car. She is now family, we are truly blessed to have gotten to know Nour, she is so young for all the places she has traveled. I hope she comes back soon 🥰 I highly recommend Nour for your Workaway!

Having Olatz here at the ranch was a real joy. From the moment she arrived, her warmth, kindness, and positive spirit made a big difference. She was helpful, considerate, and a pleasure to have around — her smile and presence made the days brighter for me and everyone here. She fit in perfectly with the other helpers and brought such a calm, friendly energy to the ranch. I’m really grateful for all her help and for the good memories she left behind. Ranchi, Chester, the bunnies, the chickens, the buffalo, and I would happily welcome her back anytime. Me and Ranchi think of her with a warm smile!
