Laura y Jorge vinieron en verano para cuidar de nuestro perro Freddie y de nuestra casa. Son personas maravillosas, muy responsables. El cuidado que le brindaron a nuestro perro y a nuestra casa fue excepcional. Estamos muy contentos de haber conocido a gente tan encantadora. Muchísimas gracias.

Sofia joined us after the summer season and was an absolute pleasure to host! She approached every task with a great attitude, reliability, and genuine eagerness to learn. She helped with a wide range of tasks — keeping everything clean and tidy, creative tasks/painting, cooking and organizing. Sofia was excellent both working independently and as part of a team, always thoughtful and motivated in everything she did. She was also great looking after our two Boarder Collies and our cat. We really appreciated her positive energy, adaptability, and willingness to try new things. She quickly became part of our little community, and we’d be happy to welcome her back anytime. Highly recommended! 🌿

We had such a great time at Jake’s place! We were staying in the tiny house which was very comfortable and it was nice to have a little space to ourselves as this isn’t always possible at workaways. Jake was really lovely and his kids Remi and Lu are just the best- they’re so much fun and full of adventure. Right from the moment we arrived they welcomed us in like we were part of the family. The kids are very used to having backpackers come and stay and seem to really like having them around. We learned a lot from Jake- he’s really resourceful and can do pretty much anything he puts his mind to. The jobs we were helping with included tree planting, dam building, giving the sheep their antiworming meds and working in the veggie garden. We also went to his dad’s place nearby and helped clear out the gutters and tidy up the yard a bit. His dad is also super lovely! Being a flexible cook is good if you’re thinking of staying here as you will be eating directly from the veggie garden. The area is pretty quiet but has a lot of natural beauty. Jake has a (manual) car that he is happy to lend to workawayers to explore the local area. We would recommend the Mitta Mitta brewery for dinner and drinks, the wonga wetlands for wildlife and Mount Wills for hiking. Lake Hume is also gorgeous and good for walking. The area is very rural so doesn’t have any public transport- without being able to drive you won’t really be able to explore.

Marleen joined us after the summer season and was an absolute pleasure to host! Even though she didn’t have much prior volunteering experience, she approached every task with a great attitude, reliability, and genuine eagerness to learn. She helped with a wide range of tasks — gardening, painting, cooking, organizing, and even lent a hand to our neighbors picking olives and cleaning up their yard. Marleen was excellent both working independently and as part of a team, always thoughtful and motivated in everything she did. We really appreciated her positive energy, adaptability, and willingness to try new things. She quickly became part of our little community, and we’d be happy to welcome her back anytime. Had a great time at the nature reserve, met incredible people and learnt many new skills. The accommodation was great and clean. If you want to be in the bush and spend most of your time outdoors, this is the place to be.

François has been an amazing host for my first Workaway experience! He is a great communicator with text beforehand, and same in real life. He was very welcoming to me and my dog and made sure I felt immediately at home. I stayed for a week and in the days he was home, we shared some nice walks and dinners. We had some great talks and laughs together. His English is really good and he knows the region very well to give some nice tips where to go. Thanks again for hosting me and Koko!

Phie came to us from the wet West Coast, but the storm force NW winds the day after her arrival took the power out but brought none of the much-needed rain.... instead we enjoyed practicing using the fire pump and hose to water the vegetable garden! Phie stayed in our cottage with another Workawayer and generously invited him to join her on various trips in her car to explore the local area. She was talkative (occasionally too busy talking to focus on the task!) and friendly and always interested to meet members of our Blythe Valley community. As a keen swimmer, Phie jumped at the opportunity to go for a quick dip in the sea at Gore Bay early in the morning with a group of my friends ... and went back for more the next week, despite the cold temperatures. She really enjoyed doing some walking in our area and further afield on her days off. Phie completed lots of different tasks for us from shelling walnuts to planting tomatoes to weeding to potting up and planting native trees. We wish her well on her continued travels through NZ.

At first place we must say that Alex is a great person, dedicated, open, honest, motivated and definitely someone who you want to work with you and be around you. There was no job/position that he could not fill up, he was always available and pro active which we could not have appreciated more. He will always have a place with us to work or just visit, we'd love to have him any time. He has all of our love and respect, which he totally deserved.

Luzie stayed with our family for four weeks. During this time she helped with household duties and gardening, and occasionally with childcare. She is kind and very quiet [redacted]. She completed the tasks we assigned, though generally with minimal initiative and at a slower pace. She is however picky, so many things she did well. We also observed limited interest in getting to know our family or Swedish culture. Regarding task preferences, Luzie was hesitant to handle certain necessary household tasks (e.g., cleaning the toilet, changing diapers). She engaged in frequent washing, which was connected to her willingness to perform some duties. She did not wish to spend much time with the children, so we would not recommend her for childcare. In our view, Luzie is better suited to basic household and gardening work when expectations are clear, tasks are well defined, and there is limited need for childcare or tasks involving personal care.

We spent a wonderful month and a half with Engie and Lida. From the very first day we felt completely at ease with them. They are both warm, affectionate and easy to connect with. Lida cooked delicious Peruvian meals for us, and it was a beautiful opportunity to get to know the cuisine of her amazing country. We talked a lot in Italian, and I definitely learned a few words in Spanish too. Engie speaks Italian almost perfectly, so communication was always smooth and effortless. Our son Andrea grew very fond of both of them, and he really missed them when they left. We loved going on trips together, to the mountains and the countryside, and we also enjoyed many dinners with our friends. Celebrating Lida’s birthday all together, mixing Italian and Peruvian dishes, was truly special. Engie and Lida are kind, sweet, respectful and caring people. It was a pleasure to have them with us, and we sincerely hope our paths will cross again. We recommend them with all our heart. ❤️

J’ai pu accompagner Laurence pendant deux semaines dans sa belle vie dans les Pyrénées et l’aider. Elle est une personne très chaleureuse et ouverte, avec une vie vraiment fascinante. Sur son terrain et autour, il y a toujours quelque chose à faire. Toute personne qui aime aider avec énergie est la bienvenue. Chaque jour, nous avions des tâches différentes et nous pouvions organiser nos journées comme nous voulions, tant que le travail était fait à la fin de la journée. Pendant notre temps libre, nous sommes allés faire du vélo, nous avons exploré les magnifiques montagnes, nous avons cuisiné ensemble et joué à des jeux. Pour toute personne qui cherche une vie harmonieuse dans la nature et qui n’a pas peur de donner un coup de main, le séjour chez Laurence est vraiment merveilleux. Merci pour tout 🫶

I loved the time I spent at Frederico and Carson’s place, they were both very nice and made me discover a lot of great food, as well as gave me great advice for visiting KL. The work itself wasn’t very hard; you just need to be a bit indépendant and not wait for him to tell you exactly what to do ; just use your common sense :) Thanks again, Frederico, and I hope to see you soon!

No podríamos decir que fuese un Verano redondo hasta que apareció Clémence en nuestras vidas. ¡¡Clémence es Super!! Ella es un rayo Sol 🌞 lleno de energía y amor y una de las mejores personas que hayamos conocido. Esto no es una hipérbole o una exageración. Es auténtico, como ella. Clémence hacía que cada día fuese especial solo con su presencia. Ha nacido una gran amistad entre nosotros que perdurará en el tiempo... Inteligente, perspicaz, empática y con todos sus sentidos y su alegría en todo lo que piensa, hace o dice y/o despierta su curiosidad o llama su atención, además de ser una trabajadora atenta, hábil y eficaz en todo lo que se necesite. Sin duda con más mujeres como ella (y su extraordinaria amiga Laura que vino a visitarnos) podríamos haber intentado mitigar el Caos climático antropogénico porque son mujeres con valores y principios que aman la vida y la Naturaleza y observan y comprenden el entramado vital que nos sostiene. Mujeres como ellas "conectadas" y con los pies en la Tierra nos devuelven la confianza perdida en la humanidad. Fue un gusto ver la capacidad espontánea y natural para aprender y desarrollar destrezas de Flow Arts tanto de Clemence como de Laura y ellas estan ya en el "flujo" de estas artes que las acompañaran allá donde vayan. Eso nos enorgullece. A pesar de ser un tema duro (lo es para muchas personas) compartir conocimientos sobre la Crisis Climática con ellas y "seguir la línea de puntos de los hechos" era sencillo porque son mujeres jóvenes pero muy ilustradas y que perciben y saben lo que está sucediendo y como se las esta robando su Futuro y sentimos amor y rabia por ellas porque con mujeres así otro mundo era posible... Durante su estancia tuvimos tiempo para todo, nadar, hacer kayak, senderismo, acampar en modo Bushcraft, montar en bicicleta a través de valles, entrenar y practicar Flow Arts, compartir interesantes películas y momentos únicos e inolvidables que esperamos repetir algún día porque anhelamos que regresen a visitarnos y tantas otras cosas y detalles vividos durante las comidas y cenas o con los animales que nos rodean. Clémence, te deseamos lo mejor de lo mejor y aquí tienes unos amigos siempre, siempre...y cuando os apetezca aquí tenéis, un refugio, un hogar. Un abrazo enorme para ti y para Laura y divertíos todo lo que podáis porque os lo merecéis y el mundo necesita mujeres como vosotras. Ahora más que nunca. No os decimos adiós sino hasta pronto queridas amigas. Un gran abrazo. Os echamos de menos...❤️ Nous ne pouvions pas dire que cet été était parfait avant que Clémence n'entre dans nos vies. Clémence est géniale ! Elle est un rayon de soleil🌞 plein d'énergie et d'amour, et l'une des meilleures personnes que nous ayons jamais rencontrées. Ce n'est ni une hyperbole ni une exagération. C'est authentique, tout comme elle. Clémence rendait chaque jour spécial rien que par sa présence. Une grande amitié est née entre nous, qui durera dans le temps... Intelligente, perspicace, empathique, elle met toute sa sensibilité et sa joie dans tout ce qu'elle pense, fait ou dit et/ou qui éveille sa curiosité ou attire son attention. Elle est également une travailleuse attentive, habile et efficace dans tout ce qui est nécessaire. Sans aucun doute, avec plus de femmes comme elle (et son extraordinaire amie Laura qui est venue nous rendre visite), nous aurions pu essayer d'atténuer le chaos climatique anthropique, car ce sont des femmes qui ont des valeurs et des principes, qui aiment la vie et la nature, et qui observent et comprennent le réseau vital qui nous soutient. Des femmes comme elles, « connectées » et les pieds sur terre, nous redonnent confiance en l'humanité. Ce fut un plaisir de voir la capacité spontanée et naturelle de Clémence et Laura à apprendre et à développer des compétences en Flow Arts. Elles sont déjà dans le « flux » de ces arts qui les accompagneront partout où elles iront. Cela nous rend fiers. Même s'il s'agit d'un sujet difficile (pour beaucoup de gens), partager avec elles des connaissances sur la crise climatique et « suivre la ligne des faits » a été facile, car ce sont des jeunes femmes très cultivées qui perçoivent et comprennent ce qui se passe et comment leur avenir leur est volé. Nous ressentons de l'amour et de la colère pour elles, car avec des femmes comme elles, un autre monde serait possible... Pendant leur séjour, nous avons eu le temps de tout faire : nager, faire du kayak, de la randonnée, camper en mode bushcraft, faire du vélo à travers les vallées, nous entraîner et pratiquer les arts du mouvement, partager des films intéressants et des moments uniques et inoubliables que nous espérons revivre un jour, car nous avons hâte qu'elles reviennent nous rendre visite, et tant d'autres choses et détails vécus pendant les repas et les dîners ou avec les animaux qui nous entourent. Clémence, nous te souhaitons le meilleur et tu auras toujours des amis ici... et quand vous le souhaiterez, vous aurez ici un refuge, un foyer. Un gros câlin pour toi et Laura, amusez-vous autant que possible car vous le méritez et le monde a besoin de femmes comme vous. Aujourd'hui plus que jamais. Nous ne vous disons pas adieu, mais à bientôt, chères amies. Nous vous embrassons très fort. Vous nous manquez...❤️ We couldn't say it was a perfect summer until Clémence came into our lives. Clémence is amazing! She is a ray of sunshine 🌞 full of energy and love and one of the best people we have ever met. This is not hyperbole or exaggeration. It is authentic, just like her. Clémence made every day special just by being there. A great friendship has been born between us that will last over time... Intelligent, perceptive, empathetic, and with all her senses and joy in everything she thinks, does, or says and/or arouses her curiosity or catches her attention, she is also an attentive, skilled, and efficient worker in everything that is needed. Without a doubt, with more women like her (and her extraordinary friend Laura who came to visit us), we could have tried to mitigate anthropogenic climate chaos because they are women with values and principles who love life and nature and observe and understand the vital fabric that sustains us. Women like them, who are ‘connected’ and down-to-earth, restore our lost faith in humanity. It was a pleasure to see the spontaneous and natural ability to learn and develop Flow Arts skills in both Clemence and Laura, and they are already in the ‘flow’ of these arts that will accompany them wherever they go. That makes us proud. Despite being a difficult topic (it is for many people), sharing knowledge about the climate crisis with them and ‘following the dotted line of facts’ was easy because they are young but very educated women who perceive and know what is happening and how their future is being stolen from them. We feel love and anger for them because with women like this, another world is possible... During their stay, we had time for everything: swimming, kayaking, hiking, bushcraft camping, cycling through valleys, training and practising Flow Arts, sharing interesting films and unique and unforgettable moments that we hope to repeat one day because we long for them to come back and visit us, and so many other things and details experienced during meals and dinners or with the animals around us. Clémence, we wish you all the best and you will always have friends here... and whenever you feel like it, you have a refuge, a home here. A big hug for you and Laura, and have as much fun as you can because you deserve it and the world needs women like you. Now more than ever. We're not saying goodbye, but see you soon, dear friends. Aleka a passé 2 semaines chez nous et elle a tout de suite «fait partie » de notre petite communauté ! Pleine d’initiatives et de créativité, elle a trouvé sa place ici et a laissé sa marque jusque dans nos murs et nos pierres ! Nous gardons un souvenir plein de vie et d’échanges. I had a fantastic time with Leanna, Jay, the cats, and the chickens! They were kind and accommodating from the beginning of our communication. I was fortunate enough that we did so many of the tasks together, so we could talk and joke around, getting to know each other better as we did yard work. The tasks were simple and easy to carry out. We were able to accomplish a lot and they were good about not going over two hours a day. The accomodation was very nice (with amazing views!!) and I had plenty of free time, to either take a walk and explore the beautiful countryside or just relax and read. We have a love of board games in common so we got to have some evenings playing, which was fantastic. I'm very thankful for my time with them and glad we are going to keep in touch! I hope to be back soon. Thank you!

Alex was both a great Workawayer and Housesitter! We had a very productive few days of yardwork before we headed out and entrusted Alex with our home and animals. Alex is easy to communicate with, hardworking and reliable. I would strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a workawayer or housesitter (or both!) Thanks Alex for a great week!

Ospitare Fanni per 6 mesi è stata una delle esperienze più belle e significative che abbiamo vissuto come famiglia tramite Workaway. Non esagero dicendo che ci siamo trovati "da Dio". È stata un'avventura profonda e un vero arricchimento culturale. Fin dall'inizio, Fanni si è dimostrata solare, responsabile e con un cuore enorme. Ammettiamo che ci sono state delle difficoltà iniziali – è normale quando due culture e modi di vivere si incontrano – ma le abbiamo superate insieme, con pazienza e tanta comunicazione. Queste sfide, in realtà, hanno solo rafforzato il nostro legame. In questi sei mesi, ha fatto molto di più che aiutarci in casa e con nostra figlia Cecilia: è diventata parte della nostra famiglia. La sua energia, la sua curiosità, il suo sorriso e la sua dedizione ci mancheranno moltissimo. È stato un piacere condividere con lei la nostra quotidianità, le tradizioni e vederla integrarsi perfettamente. Quando è arrivato il momento dei saluti, è stato un vero dispiacere e abbiamo versato qualche lacrima. Sentiamo la sua mancanza ogni giorno. Ringraziamo Workaway per averci permesso di conoscere una persona così speciale. A Fanni, auguriamo il meglio per il suo futuro, per tutti i suoi sogni e progetti. Siamo certi che farà grandi cose! Per fortuna, sappiamo che continueremo a sentirci nonostante le distanze. Questa non è una chiusura, ma l'inizio di un'amicizia che durerà.

I had a really great time staying at Craig's house with him and his family. The room I stayed in was nice and the bed really comfortable. Simon the cat was visiting me each day and sometimes stayed for the night :) The Work was most of the times really fun since Craig tried to find me something I like. The food was really really good as well and I miss it a lot! I can recommend a stay 100% and might come back in the future myself.

If you are looking for a dependable, responsible volunteer who is proactive, friendly and a fast learner, coupled with an intelligent mind , care free attitude and good vibes, look no further, Jeremy is your guy. We were delighted and lucky to host him and regretted that he couldn't stay with us longer. All the best mate, and hope to see you again, when you visit Sri Lanka. You will be missed.
