Lena is a wonderful volunteer. She worked really hard looking after our animals and in the garden; rebuilding our vegetable garden and mowing the lawns. She helped us with our olive harvest too, which was a lot of work. She went above and beyond to help us out with whatever was needed, and was also amazing looking after/cleaning the kitchen and common areas. She hung out a lot with our 4yr old daughter too, playing with her, taking her on walks with the dog, helping us to care for her regarding food & clothes. She’s really easy to talk to, shares really well, gets along well with others, and was always respectful. Her communication was outstanding before, during & after her stay. If you host Lena you will be happy to have her around, she is an absolute delight. We would be super happy to have her come back, anytime 🥰

Lene was accompanied by her friend Sarah for this Workaway and I really liked that they were both open to having a video call prior to me confirming them for the Workaway. What I liked about Lene’s application was that she had clearly read the description and catered her response to that, which meant she really stood out. For this experience, the main person they would be in daily communication with was my mum, Helen, as she was living at the house (I am in Thailand). However I created a group chat between the four of us, to keep all communication in one place. I sent Lene and Sarah information for how to arrive at the house, from bus and train schedules to which airports to fly into as the area is quite remote. I can attest that they looked after my cats well, continuing with Nibs inhaler training and taking Cleo on walks around the garden that she loves. Unfortunately, we felt let down in terms of Lene and Sarah’s communication. On a lower level, I had to prompt them to send me updates on the cats, them not informing us that the kibble had run out and needed replacing to leaving food in the fridge after they had left. Helen had asked them to let her know in plenty of time when they were running low on gas canisters for the stove, but they only let Helen know when they had ran out. On a more serious level, they helped themselves to items/areas in the space (completely moving/rearranging a room that was not part of their living arrangements to set up an additional bed for a friend visiting) without informing/asking Helen. They did not communicating with me (only Helen) that they wanted friends/family to visit - with that being Lene’s brother (when I clearly expressed in my profile that Cleo is not comfortable around men). Additionally, damage was made to a shelving unit (again this was not communicated to us) and (new) pans that they borrowed were left black with burnt on food. Having experienced being Workawayer prior to hosting, this was a disappointing exchange.

Afonso stayed with us for almost four weeks. He was very eager to work, very talkative and interested in everything. We wish him all the best for his future plans!

Amir’s place was just what I needed. A quiet and beautiful jungle escape in a rural town. Close enough to the warung but far enough from the crowds. With the noise of the stream sending you to sleep and the sounds of animals during the day it was an experience connecting back to nature. The work being suitable for the climate of the day, a little work in the morning but it was a lot of “chilling” said by Amir himself. When it was too hot we were able to put tools down and head to the warung for a cold drink, delicious food and speaking with the lovely locals. As well as heading to the river and waterfalls during the hot hours to cool down. There is the ability to cook our own food however during my time there we frequented the warung a lot for ease and laziness on my half! 😂 The facilities were perfect for what you needed and the tents were extremely comfortable and I even had one of the cats choosing to sleep in my tent (there is 4 main cats and a few shy ones running around as well as a shy dog). I will definitely be back in the future! As a stop for exploring Malaysia next time. Thank you Amir!

Jannik was a pleasure to host. He brought great energy, positivity, and enthusiasm. During his time in Ireland, he really made the most of every moment—travelling extensively, exploring our local area almost every day, and fully embracing the experience. He was a fantastic help around the house and with our kids, always reliable, considerate, and proactive. Jannik approached tasks with care and attention to detail—especially when it came to cleaning and organising. Our home was always spotless thanks to his meticulous approach and strong sense of responsibility. Much appreciated! Jannik has a genuinely kind and friendly personality. He gets along with people of all ages, has a great sense of humour. He’s curious, open-minded, and loves discovering new places, watching sports, and engaging in good conversation. Overall, Jannik is hardworking, respectful, and an all-around good person to have around.

I spend one week in Deepak's tea farm and I am really happy about it, he saved my feeling about workaway in Nepal. He host me in a sad moment but still he has been nice and funny to me. I didn't spend time with his wife because she had to leave in a rush which is sad because she is also really sweet. You should go to this workaway if you need time to meditate by harvesting tea or walking in beautiful mountain. The work time is fair, the house is so cute and the Dahl bat is delicious !!! With humor I can say that Greg makes trouble to other volunteers : because in 10 days he completed all the tasks I gave him. My house and garden look great thanks to him. There is no more work to do for other volunteers ;-) . I will quote one previous host : "Very considerate so easy to live with, mannerly, polite, conscientious and hard working". Furthermore, we had nice talks about important things, and we enjoyed happy moments with my friends.

I had a wonderful time at Julies place. The place is gorgeous, with a view over the montains up to see. We realized in three weeks great projects with a lot of fun and Julie is not only a great person with breathtaking ambition and a tremendous cook. Hope I have the time to come again.

After a month at Juls's house, I already feel like I have family in Italy. Juls is an open-minded and open-hearted person, extremely kind to the people around her, super interesting and intelligent, and with a great sense of humour. I thoroughly enjoyed the spontaneous and deep conversations with a coffee/mate in the morning, or at any time of the day, the music improvisations in the living room or in the garden with the neighbours (she’s a great musician, pianist, flutist, and I could go on...), the games, the Friday pizzas, and of course the company of the three wonderful cats. Juls always has a trick up her pocket to make any moment fun, to make things happen, a person who knows how to push life to flourish. I think saying that Juls' house in Fivizzano is a little paradise is secondary, but it's still worth mentioning. Thank you, Juls, for all the moments and for making me feel at home. A huge hug, see you very soon!

Floria was a wonderful guest on our little farm. Floria carried out all tasks given to her from gardening to housekeeping. Floria cooked some wonderful meals and we especially loved her apple tart. We can recommend Floria to any host and she would always be welcome to stay if she was ever passing our area.

She's very polite, independent, clean, hard working and kind. She helped us a lot. All the events went well thanks to her. My children loves to play with her. The Swiss dish was amazing

Pauline war 6 Wochen bei uns. Sie ist eine sehr freundliche, aufgestellte und tierliebende Person. Sie hilft gerne mit allen Arbeiten die anstehen, im und rund ums Haus herum. Die Tiere und die Natur sind ihre grosse Leidenschaft. Sie ist unkompliziert und wunderbar, zudem kann sie kochen und backen, was wir sehr genossen haben! Wir können sie sehr weiter empfehlen!

It was my first workaway experience and also my first time in Nepal and I couldn't be more pleased about going to Nischal's family. They are all very welcoming and make sure that you feel comfortable and ready to help whenever they can. The house is very comfy and the neighbourhood is quite calm ! Concerning the work, it is very little, the main things I did was helping to clean the house and taking care of the chicken once in a while ! We did the Gurkhas loop tour that Nishal organised with his agency and it was pretty amazing ! You get to experience local life in amazing places and eat a lot of foods (too many momos...) ! Charlène a été superbe tout le temps de son séjour avec nous. Elle étaient très attentionnée avec nos filles, nous aidait quotidiennement pour les tâches ménagères et nous demandait tout le temps si on avait besoin d'aide pour quelques chose. Elle fait dorénavant partie de notre famille et elle sera toujours la bienvenue chez nous!

Esther has been one of the best volunteers we've had so far. She took great care of Oskar, and they got along really well. Oskar was excited to go see the animals with her and kept mentioning her name for several days after she left.❤️ When he was asleep, she helped us with various gardening tasks and with processing and storing the harvest. She handled these tasks quickly and efficiently. Communication with her was always clear and direct, which we truly appreciated.🙏 We got along really well, and our doors are always open – Esther, you are more than welcome to come back anytime.

I liked spending time in Monchique. The view from the house is amazing, the house is equipped with everything you need despite of there are several tasks you can do during your stay. I really enjoyed working around the house, I had the freedom to decide how to spend my days. It was clear what tasks Olga and Alvaro thought could be a good project during my stay. They were always willing to help and answer questions, they tried to solve the accidental difficulties around the house immediately. I had nice walks in the nature, watched the beatiful sunrise several times. Days were so calm. You also have the possibility to visit beatiful places in the Algarve, with a car maybe easier. It was a pleasure meeting Olga and Alvaro. They are welcoming, helpful and kind, very good hosts. I'm grateful for this experience.:)
