Clem was the very first volunteer of the Origine Nomade project, I had no idea how it would go, and now, after her, my expectations are very high 🤠 She was perfect: calm, yet full of enthusiasm for life and every special moment. Always curious, supportive, and eager to help, to the point that at one moment I had no more tasks left for her 🤣 Thank you for the energy you brought to the place, all your help, and the beautiful drawing you made.🙏

Heather is a precious human being, she volunteered in Origine Nomade. It was such a pleasure to have her around with her Zammy; they’re a wamba combo! She spreads beautiful energy, not in a superficial way, but through genuine attention to the little things and a deep empathy for everyone around her. Thanks for everything, and see you soon 🤠

Anna is a very easygoing and calm person. She played so well with our 2-year-old daughter — dancing, laughing, and having so much fun together. Our daughter loved her right away! Anna was also very friendly and quickly made many English-speaking friends in the area. She often went out to places like Matsushima and Yamadera temple with them. We also enjoyed spending time together as a family — going to a hot spring, and having okonomiyaki and hand-rolled sushi dinners at home. Those are such wonderful memories for us. We hope to see Anna again someday — maybe in Japan, Denmark, or somewhere else in the world!

Ale, Mary and their daughter stayed with us for two months last summer. They are very lovely people, kind, helpful and humorous. Their little daughter is a tiny sweetheart. It was our first experience hosting a family. Probably the best time of the year for us for such an experiment. Due to living inside our house together we had many points of contact. Especially the kids. And to be honest it was challenging for all of us for the first three weeks to find a harmonious way to come along. Anyway, Ale and Mary have a good form of communication and so it was possible to talk about everything concerning conflicts or worries. Once we found a good method of working shifts and childcare the situation relaxed a lot. To their personalities: Ale is a very handy and well-skilled electrician. He is meaningful and does his work with care. Most important he finishes every project and is open for new tasks. Mary has a green thumb and made our garden beautiful again. She isn't delicate with hard, dirty work and pulled out strong roots with her hands. This summer so many tasks were realized we couldn't have done without their help. Spending time with them together was heartwarming and we miss them a lot. Thank you so much!

I stayed at Willy’s house for a week, which felt very short, but it turned out to be one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From the very first day, he made me feel so welcome. He was incredibly kind, a great cook, and always open-minded — patiently answering all the questions I was curious about. Even though my English wasn’t perfect, Willy was always patient and tried his best to understand me. Thanks to that, I could have deep and meaningful conversations about the things I was truly interested in. He introduced me to many local places and took me to meet his friends, who were all so kind and welcoming, which made my experience very special. Assen is a lovely town surrounded by beautiful nature. The small city center was perfect for afternoon walks or a bit of shopping. Willy even lent me a bike (from his neighbor), which made it easy to explore the area freely. The work I did was quite simple — mostly household tasks — and sometimes I worried that I might not have done enough. However, Willy encouraged me to enjoy the town, especially when the weather was nice, which I truly appreciated. This was my first Workaway experience, and I’m so glad it was with Willy. I’m deeply grateful for all the opportunities, the kindness, and the wonderful people I met.

If you like beautiful views, tasty food, and ice cream every day, then this is definitely the place to go! You might have to battle quite the amount of gorse (a much hated invasive plant), but for us that was totally worth it. P and Stuart are lovely hosts who did everything they could to make us feel welcome. We appreciated their flexibility, and the fact that work-related communication (times, explanations, expectations) was always clear. The tasks were quite varied and never too hard. P and Stuart also suggested plenty of places to visit on our time off, and we are grateful to have been able to spend time in their wonderful region. We will cherish the memories of our pleasant evening talks over their great wine (and even the memories of gorse cutting!). Thanks again for everything!

It was my pleasure having Oceane with us. She was very dedicated to work. She surprised me when she brought four 5l water containers from the well. And when she was harvesting wood in the forest, she showed a lot of perseverance and tenacity. Thank you very much Oceane.

What a treat to leave the city and find yourself tucked into a valley in the mountains with limited cell service- thus allowing yourself to be fully immersed in each moment Kathy is a master gardener and will teach you many things including propagation of roses, lavender and finger limes; planting out raised garden beds; how to set up a drip irrigation system and how to green-ify your landscape by planting trees! she is also a wonderful cook and accommodative of a vegan diet! the salads at night were wonderful. she has a beautiful collection of artifacts from all different cultures! Robert is great company and loves to chat about anything from politics to television and movies; loves to play cards - taught me a version of rummy. He and Kathy are well traveled and have many amazing stories to share! Robert will always have something fun and handy for you to do around their space. he taught me to use a riding mower and we re-built and renovated a raised garden bed that had fallen over There is not a town nearby but the land sits on 100 acres so you will never run out of places to walk and explore in the countryside! I recommend bringing a rental car or bringing whatever you may need with you. On Sunday, we had an off day and Kathy and Robert drove us to the local cafe and we had a nice lunch there and explored the market and goods shop (this is the only nearby restaurant and market- about 10 minutes). Laguna Village Providore. Kathy also graciously drove us to see an aboriginal site in the mountains near yengo natl park they have 2 adorable cats which I grew close to in only a week. they will join you in the studio if you allow them to. lots of kangaroos and beautiful birds all around! At night, you will enjoy a group dinner in their home and fall asleep to the sound of frogs having a hoot at the pond! I would recommend this experience to anyone wanting to learn about local culture and living away from the city and immersed in nature

Pearlynn and Hiroki stayed with us over the busy calving season. What started as 2 weeks extended to closer to 10 weeks! Truly, we could not have done it without them! They arrived with open hearts, steady hands, and a beautiful calm presence that carried right through the chaos of new life and muddy days. They’re a beautiful couple inside and out. Hardworking, thoughtful, endlessly kind, and always finding joy in the little moments. From feeding calves in the early mornings to helping with farm routines and joining in on laughter around the dinner table, they gave their best every day. Their teamwork, curiosity, and care for the animals (and us humans!) were second to none. We’ll remember their warmth and the genuine connection they brought to our little corner of the world. If you ever have the chance to host Pearlynn and Hiroki l, don’t hesitate. They’ll leave your place better than they found it, and your heart a bit fuller too.

I spent 3 weeks here and felt comfortable from the first day, this house has a very nice atmosphere :) I was a little worried about my English at first because this was my first workaway experience, but everyone took it easy and I still felt like I was with my own family, they and the children and also the pets welcomed me and I'm very happy to have had this experience. 🐾 I met an amazing workawayer Alexis here, she took me and Jaz surfing, it's a dream come true for me as a person from Central Europe, even though I couldn't do it and I made a lot of mistakes, I was at least happy to try and I will never forget it. 🏄🌊 When I arrived by train to Santa Barbara, Jay and Yano were waiting for me, they brought me food and we went to high school to watch American football, which was a big surprise for me because I had never seen it live before. Jay and Mila took me to restaurants a few times, and also to Jaya's birthday dinner. Jay showed me around, a beautiful place to watch the sunset, a hike nearby and showed me where to go cycling in the area. I slept in a dome which had a beautiful view of the ocean, it was nice to watch the sunrise from there. 🌄 I was very happy that they had healthy food to cook, I would love to see them again sometime, but first I have to learn to play chess so I can play with Jaz ♟️:)

It was my pleasure having Nanou with us. She was very motivated for work, very reliable and she was also self-initiative, which is quite unusual among the volunteers who visit us. She also has a cheerful nature and has connected very well with the other volunteers. I’m very grateful meeting Nanou.

Zsófia was such a joy to have around! Super proactive, independent, and great at communicating. She took initiative, got things done (and even went beyond what was asked), and worked really well with the other volunteer. Fun, reliable, and full of good vibes — we’d host her again anytime!

My experience on Jenn and Corey's property was lovely. The best word to describe their land is magical. It's a very welcoming wholesome environment. They are very kind and generous hosts. The work was never hard and often fun, they operate on reciprocity and good faith and are extraordinarly nice people. As far as accomodations/amenities by far the nicest I've had on a workaway. I would highly recomend this workaway for anyone looking for a relaxing work exchange in the mountains. If you're really into yoga, meditation, and mindfullness I could even see this being a life changing experience. The location is also very nice as it's a short drive to San Jose.

It's been great having Glenn with us. He stayed over two weeks and integrated perfectly. He is friendly, flexible and curious. He engaged without hesitations in a broad variety of activities such as gardening, painting or cooking. And we have to command he relentless efforts to learn french. A very nice guy to have at home.

This was my first time volunteering with a complete family. The place and the farm were absolutely beautiful. The family was incredibly kind and open to my culture. I truly enjoyed my time with them. Thank you, Sandra and Terry, for every moment I spent with you. I wished I could have stayed longer than a week, but I couldn't.

It was our first experience as workawayers and it couldn´t have been better! Hamish and Leah are very sociable and the communication was very easy and flow from the first time. Their family is very special. They were very friendly and welcome with us. We felt like at home easily. And what to say about Freddie! An energetic, active and bright dog who loves running and playing with sticks. In the other hand he is so sweet, so sensitive, so loving and affectionate. He loves rest with you on the sofa and being petted for get relaxed. And their house is a special place inhabited by special people and located in a peaceful and beautiful place. Definitely we had wonderful time in their house and we recommend this wonderful workaway to everyone! Thank you Hamish and Leah.

I was very fortunate to have Maggie staying with me. She has incredible work ethics and enthusiasm to help with anything and everything. Maggie worked in the garden, helped with cleaning and other household chores, and she even baked amazing German Christmas biscuits for me! She's a great company too, with a lot of knowledge and experiences, and I loved our conversations and sharing the stories. Thank you Maggie for all your help, you are always welcome to stay again if you're back in Melbourne!
