I was very fortunate to have Maggie staying with me. She has incredible work ethics and enthusiasm to help with anything and everything. Maggie worked in the garden, helped with cleaning and other household chores, and she even baked amazing German Christmas biscuits for me! She's a great company too, with a lot of knowledge and experiences, and I loved our conversations and sharing the stories. Thank you Maggie for all your help, you are always welcome to stay again if you're back in Melbourne!

I spent two unforgettable weeks in Flame's place. Flame is an amazing host. She always arranged the work reasonably according to the specific situation and prepared drinks and snacks when we took a break. She took me and the other two volunteers to the Halloween party. We went to nearby bars, spent many movie nights, and met Flame's friends. I was also fortunate enough to participate in two circus lessons. Flame always strives to meet the needs of the volunteers. I am very grateful for her host. Also, a big thanks to her friend Joao. I have so many wonderful memories there. I would like to come back and recommend her place to everyone.

It’s hard for me to find the right words to express my gratitude to Momo. She arrived as a stranger and left as a dear friend and part of our family. We shared so much laughter, because her sense of humour is truly unbeatable. Our dogs, Rhubee and Rosie, loved her from the very first day, and when she left, they slept on her empty bed and looked sad. Our little cat, Pluto, adored riding on your shoulder while you swept the kitchen floor each morning. Thank you, Momo. Momo has a wonderful sense of adventure and a deep trust in the universe. Her positive mindset, along with her open-minded acceptance of others, was inspiring. She is a very hard worker and is exceptionally talented at organising, helping me tremendously with cleaning and bringing order to my artistic daughter’s messy bedroom. Every day, she peeled and chopped endless apples from our little orchard. At Halloween, we decorated our house, carved pumpkins, and roasted pumpkin seeds. We went to a scary haunted house and had our fortune told by a local fortune teller. Momo made delicious pumpkin bread and pumpkin cookies too! I will always remember kayaking with you on the calm ocean at night, with the phosphorescence glittering and sparkling around us. Thank you also for teaching me some Osaka-ben and for cooking us some delicious Japanese okonomiyaki. Mecha gambatte, Moe-san!

Dennis was one of the best workways that I have ever encountered. He was a great worker, energetic, resourceful and skilled in all tasks. He installed a wood fence panel, mended my two wheel barrows one of which was difficult to fix, and installed a fine irrigation system. At the farm he cut out saplings, and moved a quantity of firewood from the garage to the woodshed. He was great company - full of stories , and enjoyed my cooking. He was a useful car driver and adviser. He hopes to return to New Zealand. I hope that he does. He housesat for a few days and left the house looking so clean and tidy.

Laura was an incredible Workaway volunteer. Our organization was extremely grateful for her reliability and positive attitude during her month stay with us. Laura helped out with cooking and preparing breakfast for everyone, help with organizing favors for the event and was overall super sweet and kind to everyone! We would love to host her again.

I had a lot of contact with Ellen during my volunteer adventure at Joshua Tree. She's an amazing person and really a good host. Her boyfriend Ash is also a wonderful and kind person. As well as Eva and her partner Marcus. This was my first volunteer job experience and this adventure made me really excited to visit other places as well. You're all really passionate and inspiring people. Thank you so much for this unique oppurtunity and the good care Ellen! I will definitely never forget about this. Big hug for all of you!

With Jose, I found a family, not just a host. We felt deeply connected, and I thank him so much for the welcome he gave me. I arrived during a very socially active period, and it was wonderful to interact with so many locals. Jose is a helpful person, open to discussion, and extremely respectful. He doesn't demand or impose strict rules for the work; he just wants, and rightly so, to get something done and achieve some goals. I did my best because, in my opinion, he deserved this and more! I worked in the garden and the house. I repeat, thank you for everything.

First time experiencing teaching English for me, it was really pleasant:) the whole crew working in the institute is really sweet:) we have a lot of liberty to give the classes, depending on what we're more confortable with, we can do exercices, lessons, showing videos, or games, ... and the students are really engaged it's a pleasure to share with them:) personally I'm non-native I'm from France and it wasn't a problem as long as I prepared well my classes so I knew where I was going and all:) and it's good to know a bit of Spanish to be able to share some basic rules or if the students need, but it's really not an obligation! It was really a mission to try to speak slowly and distinctly and also adapt itself to the nivel of the students (bc they can be from A1, to B2 or some are already really good and that's easier to just practice by speaking and having a good conversation with them) but the whole experience was amazing to me. Thanks, I won't forget it !! I highly recommand this place and Tunja is a city really agradable :) see ya🌷thanks for trusting me, Luna

We had an absolutely wonderful experience hosting these two young women from the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Arielle and Elena, although only 19 years old, they are both incredibly mature, independent, and responsible for their age. From the first day, they impressed us with their self-sufficiency, positive attitude, and warm presence. They helped us with a variety of projects — planting, harvesting olives, covering the roof of our outdoor kitchen with bamboo, and building many beautiful insect hotels, also made from bamboo. They approached every task with enthusiasm, care, and attention to detail. Their love for animals truly touched us. They were so gentle and affectionate with our dogs, who absolutely adored them and received countless cuddles every day. Even in their free time, they visited and cared for the local street dogs at the beach, especially a mother with puppies — feeding them and giving them affection. We also spent many lovely, entertaining evenings together, full of laughter and great conversations. Their energy, kindness, and joy made them a real pleasure to have around. They originally planned to stay for two weeks but ended up staying three, as we all enjoyed the time together so much. We can wholeheartedly recommend them to any future hosts — they are reliable, kind-hearted, and a true joy to have as part of your home. 💛🐾

Tasnime and Moufazal were our first Workawayer family to stay with us and also our first guests from Reunion Island! They visited with their two wonderful sons, Harif (the calm soul) and Abdul Tayeb (a full bundle of energy). From the very first day, they blended into our space like family; grounded, collaborative, proactive, and always cheerful. As with all our volunteers, they gave a presentation about themselves, patiently answering every child’s curious question and beautifully sharing stories about their home and culture in Reunion. We celebrated Deepawali together. During their stay, I was deeply occupied with redesigning and restructuring things, and they managed the fort with great responsibility and care. Their presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of balance to our days. We are truly grateful for their time, energy, and love. The children, team, and I will always remember them as our first-ever Workaway family, who set a wonderful example of togetherness and contribution.

We were there for 2 amazing weeks. We learned a lot from the project, Sicily and Christian! There was a lot of space and time to explore the area and choose for yourself what you would like to do - both for the working part and how you would like to spend your freetime. We had some great trips to different citys in Sicily and heard many interresting stories about the Island. Saw the beautiful nature in the area. Both the beaches, the cliffs and forest/lokal nature where crazy beatutiful! It was amazing that Christian took the time for both sightseeing, unique experiences and also time to stay at the camp to sit around the fire or enjoy an amazing orange right from the threes. The work was very free and we helped to get further at a project, but things take time, so we didn’t finish. Met some amazing people, who will probobly finish it soon! We are looking forward to come back and see what has been build since!

I was blessed to stay at David's place for a month in the gorgeous Ontario fall! AND they accepted my big dog, Charlie! The tent was spacious enough for both of us and oh so comfortable! It is incredible how sleeping, eating and interacting around the fire enhances the natural connections and makes the whole thing a spiritual and physical "retreat". The work was so varied, geared towards your strengths, and growth that it was always a pleasure! There were 2 other things that blew me away and really sets this experience apart: The community of volunteers was ever evolving, but always a core of wonderfully diverse individuals from around the world who loved the space and the culture there. (I miss them all the time). And the culture was the other piece. David has such a bold vision for the volunteer contributions on his land and it is by far the best organized opportunity I've participated in. Kudos to all, and I can't wait to come back and contribute more!

I think my first Workaway experience couldn’t have been any better. It truly felt like a home away from home. 💕 Everyone was so welcoming, and Lisa is such a beautiful soul who always made sure everything was going great! The work was diverse, fun, and always well organized. They even made it possible for us to go on weekend trips, even though we didn’t have our own car. I loved the people, the trails on the huge property, the doggos, the classes, and the sunsets and music jams! Already miss it — until we meet again! 😍

Emil and Helen stayed with me for a couple of weeks in October 2025. They helped me with gardening, painting and some basic construction work. They are easygoing, down to earth people who are not afraid of taking on new tasks. They were quick to find their own solution to any challenge they would encounter. They also had a lot of patience with my kitten who needed special attention at the time <3 I had two great weeks with Helen and Emil and I actually learnt quite a lot of German just hanging out with them. Moreover they prepared many delicious meals for me and Helen taught me how to bake the perfect sourdough bread! I can highly recommend this young couple to future hosts.

What a fantastic 3 month time we had with Lisa staying at our farm. Being a horse woman through and through she took over taking care for our horses from day one, not much explanation needed. She has been 100% reliable and gave them the same love we do. She has been so open to pick up new training methods and to exchange knowledge for the wellbeing of our four legged friends There is also not been one job around the house she would not have done. Working with her is easy and so much fun. And gosh, we miss her homebaked bread. And the gaming evenings filled with laughter and great conversation. And Maroto the dog misses her and the beloved belly scratches. Not talking about her favourite horse Florian ;) We miss her and just hope she is back soon.
