Hello, my name is Angélique.

I am a passionate and free spirited traveler who loves animals. An encounter with one will make any trip even more special. I traveled in countries like the United States, Cuba, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, but my first ever solo trip was in Thailand, in 2019, where I was especially amazed by the landscapes, the food, the culture and certainly the wildlife. I wish to go back one of these days!

After graduating high school, my first path led me to study animal health and wellbeing. After exploring working as a vet tech in a couple of clinics and a boarding kennel, I worked in the service industry, in bars for a few years before deciding to pursue a bachelor’s degree in sexology. This widened my perspectives on human psychology and behaviors. I am also in the process of completing a certificate in communications and media studies where I can put to use my creativity with words and visuals.

I am someone imaginative that loves to dance and laugh. I might be shy at first, but I enjoy making genuine connections with like minded people. I value open-mindedness, vulnerability, empathy and humor.

I hope we have the chance to meet and learn from each other.

Hi, my name is Olivier.

I am always seeking a new adventure where my skills can be valued and utilized. My past work experiences have been mostly labour intensive and mechanically oriented. I worked many years farming on Canadian soil, dairy farming, row cropping, berry and vegetable farming, and operating a personal pasture pig project. I especially appreciate tasks including animal care where I feel emotionally bonded to them. Their wellbeing is of upmost importance to me.

My current employment is in the forestry industry where I am gone spring till fall clearing brush for new tree plantations in the heart of the Canadian shield, James Bay. I live and breathe for nature.

I am an adult dealing with life on the autism spectrum which makes me somewhat of a quiet and introverted individual with some social difficulties. I am however an honest and sensitive person. I love to express myself musically whether it be playing piano, guitar, singing, and or any other musical instruments I can land my hands on.

As a couple we are always happy to enjoy each other’s company whether it is sitting calmly while chatting, playing board games or watching a movie. We also love to spend time in nature taking long walks hand in hand or sitting on a blanket in a park drawing while having a snack. In our relationship, we value healthy communication, vulnerability and honesty. One thing we particularly appreciate is that we know how to be playful like children together and laugh out loud. Working abroad is a way for us to explore some of our interests such as alternative sustainable lifestyles, farming, animal care, community outreach and more. We can’t wait to see how an experience like Workaway will deepen our bond and strengthen us as a team while sharing and connecting with others.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Angélique has experience in animal care thanks to her background as a veterinarian technician. Tasks which include but are not limited to daily husbandry chores (feeding, medication, veterinarian assistance, bathing, grooming, walking dogs, cleaning proper animal habitat etc.)
Angélique can foster a safe space for anyone who crosses her path.
Olivier has experience in farming/outdoor work and all that relates to manual labour.
We are both creative individuals who love to learn new skills in funky environments. We are not afraid to get our hands a little dirty.
To conclude, household chores are something we are looking forward to do (cleaning floors, surfaces, dishes, laundry, cooking tasteful meals, and other minor household repairs).
