Hi everyone!
I'm Benedict, 29 years old. I'm currently studying English and Linguistics at the University of Berne. To complete my bachelor's degree, I will need to either study or work for 6 months in a country where English is either a national language, or where a major portion of the population speaks English from a young age.
Therefore I'm looking for either one long or two shorter stays with hosts all over the globe! I hope my profile will give you some insights into what kind of person I am and what you as a host can expect from me if you were to let me into your lives :)Intereses

One of the primary goals of mine is to deepen my knowledge of the English Language. I am well versed in it's structure and am able to teach it's Grammar and Syntax to children. If interested I can help with German and could maybe be some help when it comes to French. As a linguistically intrigued person, I try to learn some phrases from the languages i have close contact with.Habilidades y conocimientos que quiero compartir o aprender

As a student I am well versed in identifying the core of a problem, looking up possible solutions, choosing the one most fitting for me and then applying it. This is to say that whatever comes my way, I always try approach the situation independently. But i also know when I'd reached my limit and when to ask for help.
Besides purely academic skills, i can apply this process to many things I've learned in my life such as:
-Gardening: In my teens and early adulthood I regularly helped my grandma when it came to all things gardening. We nurtured seedlings and prepared the compost in late winter/early spring; We planted all kinds of crops (beans, tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, etc; many kinds of flowers) in early spring; Weeding was a big part of the work in summer and when Autumn came around we, and usually some other family members, would harvest everything and prepare it for storage. In late autumn we then made sure the little pond was prepared for winter and also got the compost of this year ready to be processed the following spring.
-Childcare: Besides the obligatory military-militia-service i also spent almost two years doing civil services in daycare all around Switzerland. I grew to love this work and even started an apprenticeship in the field just before Covid hit, which ended up being the reason why i had to cancel this training. In this time i learned to care for children between the age of 3 months up to 9 years old. This included preparing meals (often incorporating the help of the children), planning and executing activities, working with the parents and of course lots of laundry :D
-Customer Service: As a student's job I have worked a bit over two years at the Grand Casino in Berne as a guide. The work there included Sales and Marketing. My favourite part though always remained doing guided tours through the Casino and the subsequent explanation of how to play BlackJack and Roulette. Taking and making calls with guests can also take up several hours of a given workday.
-All things digital: I'm vell versed in all things MS office. Need a fancy PowerPoint or an excel sheet of products restructured? I'm your guy. Furthermore, I have some experience in creating short films, so i know my way around a camera and editing software. For my studies I also hat to work a lot with recordings, so my expertise there is even higher.
-Housework: I have lived in a shared apartment with 3 close friends for four years back in 2015-2019 and have recently moved in with my girlfriend. She works full time, so as a student I tend to have more free time to help around the house. This includes chores like food-prep, general cleaning, laundry, taking care of finances etc.
-Diving: In 2012 I did the PADI Open Water Course and immediately followed it up with the Advanced Open Water Course. Since then i try to incorporate at least one diving trip into every time i travel, if the finances permit it.
-More: Whenever I think of some more details I will (hopefully) add them here :)Edad

I am also a handy person in the sense that I use my hands for all kinds of knacky things. I know many different ways to shuffle a deck of cards for example. I tend to keep my hands busy one way or another, be it by practicing with my cards (includes some rudimentary magic tricks) or fidgeting with other toys. This almost-obsession of mine was reinforced heavily around 2 years ago when I quit smoking and needed ways to occupy my mind and hands from cigarettes. Luckily I have stuck with quitting since then and do not intend to change that.

I was warmly welcomed into their home and quickly felt like part of the family. I loved spending time with Kale. We played lots of soccer and chess. He even managed to win a chess tournament at school after some training! Truly a proud moment :) The… read more
