Hello and welcome to my profile,

My name is Ash. I’m a hard-working, responsible and adventurous person who likes to challenge himself day by day, learning from each experience that comes my way. I'm new to workaway, but you will find that I am reliable, adaptable and always up for a challenge.

Working in the hospitality industry for years, I have had the privilege of meeting many travelers coming through my hometown of Vancouver. I have always admired the traveler lifestyle and have wanted to do something like this for myself. Inspired and ready to get out to do the same, I am here looking for new adventures, friends and experiences.

Up until the pandemic I was working in the restaurant industry for many years. Much of that time I was a Chef, but I have also spent time filling other roles in the industry as well. Since the pandemic, I have had the opportunity to work and gain skills in the agricultural/landscaping sector.

I will be backpacking Europe this year and would love to stretch my adventure as long as possible!

I’m open to many different types of work and would like to help wherever I can. I am not shy of hard work, and taking on new tasks. I'm always happy to roll up my sleeves and get things done.

I can teach English, I have taught many of my foreign friends over the years. I can teach you HIndi, but since my family is from Fiji, the Hindi I know is a bit broken and different from the traditional Hindi spoken in larger countries. I have learned basic French from elementary school, but it is rusty and I hope to improve upon on it

Aside for having experience (and eagerness) for general labour duties, when working for the City, I have acquired experience working with a variety tools and heavy machinery maintaining the local parks and recreation centres. This includes things from small hand tools to larger heavy machinery like front loaders and ride on mowers. From maintaining gardens, lawns, and pathways, to hauling machinery and setting up for events, I'm hoping some of my experience will come in handy for your project!

As I mentioned I also have extensive experience as a Chef and running a restaurant so yes this does mean I can help with the cooking! If you have ever worked in the restaurant industry, you will know the skills involved in running a restaurant are far too many to list! By no means am I an expert in all of them but I am experienced in many of them. From cleaning to customer service to dealing with suppliers to training staff, if it has to do with the restaurant I have most likely done it. I believe a lot of these skills and experiences are translatable to other applications and I hope they prove useful to you.

In my personal life I enjoy tinkering on vehicles, and have upgraded and done maintenance on my own and many of my friends vehicles. Along with a clean drivers history I have experience driving a variety of vehicles on various terrains.

English is my native language, and I would always be happy to teach or improve anyone's language skills

Growing up in a religious household, I know traditions, religion, and culture, can be very important for many and I don't have problem adapting and even participating with other religious, cultural or family traditions when needed or invited to do so. I respect all and am always eager to try new things!
