I’m very grateful to Doro and Albrecht for hosting me, especially because my plans changed last minute. I asked if a short stay was possible, and they kindly said yes. Even though I stayed only three days, it was an intense and beautiful cultural exchange, and the three full days I spent with them were truly meaningful. Doro is incredibly attentive and caring, always making sure I felt comfortable and welcome. I learned so much from both of them; from their life experience, their lifestyle (which I loved), and their culture. Our conversations and the time-shared together were deeply enriching for me. The food and accommodation were absolutely superb. Work is physical but nothing you cannot do, Actually, I really enjoyed the activities. Overall, this was one of the best experiences I’ve had so far, and I will always be thankful for the time I spent with them. I'd definitely go back !. If you’re looking for a genuine German countryside experience while still being well-connected to urban zones and the black forest area, this is absolutely the right place, Doro and Albrecht are truly phenomenal hosts.

I had a great time here for just over a month, Karina and Marcus are both really friendly and helpful, they have a new super cute baby as well! The food was all homegrown and cooked as well as delicious. The work was mostly planting trees and milling wood, lots of skills were sampled that were new to me. Would highly recommend a stay! As the year slowly comes to an end, I would like to sincerely thank you for the wonderful time I spent with you at the buffalo ranch. I really appreciated everything and felt comfortable and welcome from the very first day. We shared many great moments together, especially the mexican train game or the peaceful evenings around the campfire. Those moments meant a lot to me and made my time with you all very special. I also really enjoyed working in the forest. Collecting, splitting, and stacking firewood was the main task during my stay. It was fun and very rewarding. One moment that always makes me smile is how we kept joking about the huge mountain of brownies (two-bite) and cookies that was always on the table. It felt like there was an endless supply, and we laughed about it so often, it was honestly hilarious and incredibly comforting at the same time. The night shifts with Tilly, the calf we watched over, were also very special. I loved the quiet nights and looking up at the night sky. Waiting and hoping to see the northern lights was exciting and something I will never forget. I especially miss the dogs. I spent so much time with them, and they always made me smile. They will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you again for everything and for making me feel so welcome. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and all the best for the future. I will always look back on this time with a smile and a lot of gratitude!

We joined the eco village in October for 1 week. The experience there was fantastic. Even though it was a quite period for village and a busy period personally for Marco and Barbara they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and connect with us. We were super happy with the jobs we were given - digging a trench for a water pipe, collecting apples and making applemousse, pruning the branches of the apple trees, and clearing the thick trees and scrubs for a future camper parking. They trusted us to independently go about our work and we hope we repaid their kindness enough. Since it was a chilly week, we were very glad to be able to get out and warm up with the labour in the mornings. And in the afternoon Barbara would cook us some nice warm lunch that we would share with her and the kids. We were also very thankful that they let us move into the tiny house that they constructed as part of a workshop and use the stove to warm us up in the evenings before bed. It was a life saver versus us trying to brave it in our camper.

Rápido en aprender, maravilloso solucionando problemas, muy proactivo y resiliente. Tiene una capacidad de adaptación a los cambios muy fluida. Muy profesional a la hora de tomar decisiones, evaluando distintos puntos de vista, con una memoria impresionante. Cuenta con valores excepcionales, sencillo, amable, alegre por sobre todas las cosas y ante todo evento, siempre sabe sacar lo mejor de sí con una voluntad de oro. I stayed with Valentina and her daughter during September 2025, and it was a lovely and memorable experience. Although I had already lived in Italy before, this experience was very different. Living with a family and being part of the warmth of their home allowed me to experience Italian life in a much deeper and more authentic way. Until then, I had mostly known Italy from the perspective of a student, but staying with Valentina gave me the chance to experience daily life as part of a family. I learned many small but important details about Italian culture, routines, and ways of living that you simply don’t get as a visitor or student. In terms of the work, it was enjoyable for me. Most of my responsibilities involved taking care of Olimpia, who is a bright and imaginative child. She loves imaginary play, and together we explored many stories and creative games. It was especially meaningful for me because the way she plays reminded me of my own childhood. Sharing those games felt natural and fun, and I truly enjoyed spending time with her. The responsibilities were similar to babysitting and were very manageable for me. I was also responsible for walking Albert, the family dog. Before this, I didn’t have much experience with dogs, so I was a bit nervous at first. However, Albert is incredibly sweet, calm, and easy to handle. Walking him once a day quickly became a pleasant part of my routine, and this experience completely changed my perspective on living with and taking care of a dog — in a very positive way. Before arriving, I had some concerns about staying in someone else’s home and the natural imbalance that can sometimes come with that. However, from the very beginning, Valentina was incredibly respectful, empathetic, and understanding. She made me feel truly at home, and I never once felt like a burden. She is a very responsible, kind, and considerate person, and I deeply admire her for the way she balances her many responsibilities, including her charitable work and contribution to society. The living conditions were also excellent. I had my own room and my own bathroom, which gave me the privacy and personal space I needed. The house is located in a great area of Rome, in a safe and pleasant neighborhood. This allowed me to easily explore the city, visit parks, and feel comfortable staying out later in the evening if I wanted to. The location made the whole stay even better. We’re still in touch, and I really appreciated how supportive and welcoming Valentina was throughout my stay. I’d happily recommend staying with her.

Hallo David und Kaya, meine wunderbaren Freunde. Ich habe mit euch eine großartige Woche verbracht – sie war ruhig und zugleich voller Arbeit. Ich habe bei euch Kreativität auf eure ganz eigene Weise gesehen, ebenso eure Intelligenz. Die meiste Zeit habe ich mit David verbracht, einem klugen Mann, der weiß, dass alles mit Leichtigkeit kommt. Ich danke euch beiden von Herzen für die wunderbare Zeit und dafür, dass ihr mir diese Gelegenheit gegeben habt. Wenn sich eine Chance ergibt, werde ich gerne wiederkommen. I arrived at the ostrich farm in Desaru on November 21 and left on December 14, and during this time I had an experience I will always remember. I stayed in the tree house, which was a wonderful and peaceful place and made me feel close to nature and the simple life of the farm. During my time at the farm, I took part in many daily activities, including planting seedlings, feeding the ostriches and fish, taking care of the animals, fishing in the lake, and caring for the guava trees. These activities helped me understand farm life in a very hands-on and meaningful way. Singh, the farm leader, was firm at times, but the work requires it. He is generally serious, yet he also has a sense of humor that appears at the right moments. Mr. and Mrs. Francis were very cheerful and took great care of the young animals and the garden. I will never forget the delicious meat stew cooked by Mrs. Francis. Mr. and Mrs. Weng were extremely kind. Mr. Weng always remembered me with a lovely breakfast, while Mrs. Weng is a talented cook and has very beautiful handwriting. She even taught me how to write my name in Chinese. Imran is a kind person who usually comes on weekends, and his presence brings a nice spirit to the farm. Wen is a hardworking and dedicated girl. She joined on the weekend, was serious about her work, and has a gentle sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and an even more beautiful dimple. Ali was the backbone of the farm. He took care of the ostriches and other animals, cleaned their areas, cut the grass, and kept everything running smoothly. Thomas is usually quiet, but he is a true professional when it comes to craftsmanship. He always smiles and never finds anything too difficult to handle. There were also many workers on the farm with whom I shared fishing at the lake at the end of the day. Fishing was very enjoyable, and they were kind and simple people who sometimes even shared their catch with me. On my last day, Singh took me to a Christmas celebration for children at a local kindergarten. The place was amazing, with beautiful decorations and wonderful people. The celebration ended with fireworks, making it a perfect and unforgettable finale to my stay. I left the farm with a deep emotional connection to everyone. I felt that they were like my family, and I will miss them always. I may be leaving, but the memories and the people will stay with me. I wish this place continued success and growth.

Emmanuel did a real great job he was very caring about the Cat and looked after the House really well. We put the xmas tree and decoratiobns .i was a very hard teacher with him but eventually he inmproved It..do not doubt to get him as a workawayer..

Dear Colm, the five weeks I was there were so rich with memories that I felt as though I’d lived three full, fulfilling months. So there is a way to make time expand; somehow you’ve created the conditions for it. I’m processing my experience at a pace proportional to the time I felt like each day contained (one day to three), and I realize…you’ve taught me I can sing! Not well, but singing was never on my radar, just something I’ve accepted I don’t really do. Being exposed to music around the fire did something good for me. There’s much more to unpack, but I would just like to thank you for your kindness, generosity, 10/10 scrumptious meals, and last but not at all least for always lending me a listening ear—whether it was for loan or not.

Ellora is a vibrant young person with the ability to quickly adapt to any situation. It was a joy to have her here for 3 weeks. She is a quick learner and an excellent cook. Don't hesitate to host Ellora if you have the chance.

I had an incredible time at Marie Antoinette and Mark's place. From the moment i was picked up to when i was dropped off i felt instantly welcome with open arms. On my second day they gracefully took me with them to a local Sinterklaas celebration and it was indeed a bit nerve-wracking to being surrounded by only dutch people and personally addressed, though they all were super friendly and such a lovely inside view into the local life! The property is a dream and so incredible what Marie Antoinette and Mark did with it so far! I loved learning new skills such as (wood cutting, bark removing, learning more about fruits / self-made items, and nature in general) Yes the work can be quite taxing but both of them always made sure to take breaks in-between and switch up the tasks throughout. And actually sometimes I felt that I wasn't working enough for what I received in exchange. Their three companions (Piak, Luna, Olivia) were just adorable! Overall I had an incredible time, and was sad to leave after a short time. Definitely looking forward to coming back. If you like calmness, nature and friendly conversations I wholeheartedly recommend Marie Antoinette and Mark!

Matthew stayed for one week at my place and was a great experience with him. He was very helpful , did more than expected and was always there if needed. I can highly recommend him for anyone who wants to work with him together. Thanks

Luisa was the first Workawayer we hosted, and hosting her gave us the confidence and motivation to welcome more people. She is easygoing, relaxed, calm, independent, reliable, social — and our little one loves her (and vice versa). She wanted to do an internship/study project at a local school to complete her master’s thesis. After we confirmed she could stay with us, she contacted several nearby schools and quickly received an offer from one. While staying with us, she usually volunteered at the school or studied in her room in mornings, and helped us with household tasks in the afternoons and/or evenings. We really appreciate that attitude and are glad we could support her study project and culture exchange. In return, she helped us far more than we expected. Having her in the house felt like hosting a niece or a friend’s daughter for a few weeks — she became part of the family and is always welcome to visit again if she passes by.

For us this was the best workaway experience by far. We truly had the most amazing time. Karen Louise and the family made us feel right at home and Sonja was also a big part of this. She is a trooper and despite the limited time together we felt we connected. The place itself and the surrounding nature is stunning with a lot of history right at the doorstep. The majority of our time at the farm was taken by the rewilding/ seeding project. We created structures and depressions according to Emilia's masterplan. We had the freedom to plan and execute the tasks ourselves which was a good fit for us. We stayed for a month but if we could we would have stayed for ever. We would love to come back one day and see how nature is doing its magic.

Je suis restée un mois chez Odile et ce fut une super expérience . L'endroit est magnifique et très ressourçant. Odile est très accueillante , on a eu de chouettes discussions, Le terrain est assez grand et pas mal de choses à faire. On a pu manger pas mal de légumes et fruits venant des potagers et de la serre. Je conseille vivement cet endroit pour tout ceux qui aiment les montagnes et la nature et qui n'ont pas peur de se salir les mains

Guenther was a diligent worker and an enormous help in the garden!

Through playing with the children and the activities she proposed, she was very good at adapting to each child’s interests, suggesting activities that really suited each of them and motivated them. The children, it was the first time for them to speak and listen to Swiss German, and I think they did very well. She did really well with this because she created such a nice bond. She also suggested fun games, the children laughed a lot, and she was very autonomous and independent, but also integrated very well into the rhythm of the family. She is not complicated at all, trustworthy, and very easy to have at home. We really enjoyed having her with us and hope to see her again in Switzerland.

From the very first moment, we could see a really lovely connection with the children. Elena was very creative when playing with them, very gentle, cheerful, and attentive. Above all, she is a really nice person and was very sweet with the kids. She always came up with fun and creative activities, so the children had a wonderful time and learned Italian very quickly. She also fit in really well with our family life: always willing to help, very tidy, and always positive and smiling. We are very grateful for the time she spent with our family.
