My three weeks at Lissa and Dave’s place were truly amazing! Their sustainable lifestyle was deeply inspiring and the perfect introduction to permaculture for me. The work was well-paced and varied — from mulching and planting to maintaining garden beds. They explained not just how to do things but why, which helped me understand the logic behind permaculture. The single room was cozy and peaceful, and the daily smoothies and meals were fresh and mostly from the garden — simple, delicious, and full of life. My favorite time was sitting on the terrace in the afternoon, chatting over a glass of Dave’s homemade beer — a special moment for me as I’m a home brewer too! Dave and Lissa are generous hosts with big hearts. I managed to fit in sunrise surfs before work, and Dave kindly let me start later when the swell was up. If you’re curious about permaculture or simply want to reconnect with nature, I can’t recommend this place enough.

Lena responded to a request to study two weeks of dance, choreography and fire performance, with the finale being 15 minute performance inside an Opera, the cast of which were almost all volunteers. She had no experience spinning fire, but arrived with passion, excitement and determination, and a real desire to learn as, much as possible. To apply for the role she sent some of her dance videos and although she hasn't been studying very long, she is a natural in movement. I gave her a short LED section with light up pairs of wings to create with another volunteer, and even though they both worked on it together I strongly suspect that Lena did most of the choreography. It was gorgeous! Lena is a sparkling, intelligent young woman, and with a lot of focus and I believe she will succeed in anything she puts her mind to. She is also a pleasure to have in the house, she has a kind, conscientious and helpful personality, and many other skills outside of the dance and performance realm, including academics and fine art. Her cooking too was excellent!! Thank you for your time here Lena, and for helping to make the first showing of the Opera a success. I know you have many other strings to your bow, but I hope you keep up with the dance and performance, you are truely a natural in that area. ✨

Lorraine is a very lovely person. We enjoyed being with her so much. She has so much to tell and show it never gets boring. With her you can do any nonsense. Whether it's riding a hobby horse or a kangaroo chase to photograph their country. We had so much fun. We did a lot of tours in which we were simply shown the surroundings. We were also allowed to watch some films from her large collection with her. Lorraine has three horses, a draw and a sheep near her house. We fed them every morning and evening and mixed the food. We regularly cleaned out and especially helped Lorraine to sort things or simply let her clean things out. One day her lovely daughter also came with the two sweet and great children. We spent time with them that was really very nice. Her daughter has more sheeps on Lorraines Land. It is mich to see. We could also take a few riding sessions and we were even allowed to try to ride in the sidesaddle. Lorraine can draw very well and gave me tips. We were very well supplied with food. I have become a big fan of Pineapple in the sandwich. But don't worry, not everyone has to try this;). Lorraine we miss the time with you very much. The conversations, the laughter and the praying together and standing up for each other. You are a very special woman and remain very close to our hearts. Thank you!

Our stay with Caro, Ben, Juni and Ruby was absolutely delightful! From the moment we (my partner Pit and I) arrived, we felt so warmly and generously welcomed. We met Ben and Caro once before staying with them, and before our stay we received very clear and pleasant messages about their habits and how they operate (in terms of routine, children's schedules, meal times together, etc.) as well as the tasks we could do when we got there. From the beginning to the end, communication was very smooth and clear. They were always attentive to our needs during our stay with them. We stayed in their small house (which is absolutely wonderful and very cosy!). This gave us a lot of independence, while still allowing us to spend quality time with them. During our stay, we were able to work very independently in the field, while also having moments of working together with Ben or Caro. There were quite a few different tasks to choose from (taking care of the house and the girls, looking after the goats or doing construction work), which was very enjoyable. Overall, our stay was a real joy... like coming home. We shared many wonderful conversations, delicious meals (Ben and Caro are excellent cooks), quality time and fun moments. Plus, Juni and Ruby are such lively and loving children. Spending time with them was so refreshing and heart warming. We hope to visit them again and spend more time together in this little piece of paradise.

I really enjoyed my weeks with Eneko and his family. During working hours, I spent my time weeding, harvesting various vegetables, helping plant and sow seeds, and feeding the chickens! Eneko always made an effort to educate and share his farming knowledge and tips, which made the work so insightful. After the five hours of work, I often spent my time exploring the mountains, connecting with Eneko and his family, reading, and writing. Eneko shared beautiful trails with us and even took me and another volunteer on a hike to the top of the mountain — an experience I’ll never forget! It was both breathtaking and educational. He also included me in trips outside Elduain so I could discover more of the surrounding areas and mountains. Throughout my stay, Eneko made a real effort to share his knowledge about the ecosystem, farming, Basque culture, and many other topics, which made the experience deeply enriching. I’ll truly miss the interesting conversations we shared and connected through! Eneko and Amaia also made countless kind gestures to make me feel welcome and comfortable – it truly felt like they took me in as family. Although I didn’t speak Basque or Spanish well enough to communicate much with Amaia, her warmth and kindness went far beyond words. If you value cultural exchange, connecting with a beautiful family, spending time outdoors, and learning along the way, I can’t recommend Eneko’s place enough. Thank you for everything, Eneko — I’d love to stay in touch!

Sarah is a very friendly person. We took care of her house, garden, chickens and Winston the dog, while she was in holiday. Another family lives on their property in a small tinyhouse. They are also very nice. However, we had the impression that the agreement between Sarah and the family was missing a bit. During that time, many people also came into the house of which we initially knew nothing. Nevertheless, the stay with Sarah is highly recommended. It is a beautiful house located almost in a paradise. The parrots come to visit every day and Winston is a very great dog who hopefully lives a few more years. The house is right on a river with park. It's great to get from one place to another by bike or bus. In general, the Gold Coast is highly recommended.

I spent two weeks at the hostel with a friend of mine. This place is magical, an oasis in the middle of a small village surrounded by nature. The people are all very open, warm and relaxed, which makes it really easy to feel at home. There is a structured work schedule and you get a good induction, what makes it easy to get into a daily routine. We connected with people all around the world and had a lot of fun! I can highly recommend it! Thank you very much for this great experience!

Nina was a great cat sitter, she left the house in Iovely condition and the cats seemed happy. She was super flexible after arranging the stay at quite short notice , she arrived early in the morning so we could set off on our journey. Nina was very friendly and I feel she would have lots of interesting talks to share!

How to describe our experience with Ildiko shortly? Humanly thrilling! We stayed several weeks at Ildi's place and it was a blessing all along. We had planned to stay for two weeks, but we extended our stay, and then... we didn't want to leave! Ildiko is a very warm and welcoming person who also knows how to set clear boundaries for a shared living space. She communicates with a completely natural and smooth honesty. Everything was very natural and pleasant. She was always open to new ideas and suggestions about the land, but knew what tasks to suggest. It was very easy to get along with her and to know ‘what to do’ and ‘how’ on the land. She has a fantastic knowledge of life and nature, which I am still learning and which fascinates me! I highly recommand staying with her and the land. We stayed in the ‘small’ wooden cabin and enjoyed being fairly independent, while still spending a lot of quality time together and feeling taken care of. You will certainly benefit from meeting a person like her. Oh, and finally, Mocca and Ace are really great company.

I stayed at John’s house for about three weeks after arriving in New Zealand. He is always cheerful and kind, so even if it’s your first Workaway, you will feel safe and welcome. The work at his place is very easy, like washing dishes and cleaning. No special skills are needed, and if you don’t know something, John will kindly teach you. The house is in a very convenient area, with a supermarket and shopping mall nearby. During my stay, there was a Japanese girl in the share house, and we enjoyed playing Monopoly every night. I also watched the movie Godzilla with John, but we couldn’t finish it—so I hope to watch the rest together someday! If you are looking for a Workaway in New Zealand, I really recommend contacting John. Thank you so much, John! 😊

We originally planned on staying with Peter for a week but extended our stay a little bit because we had such a good time with him! We lived in a modern wooden house, which was great because we had a lot of room for all of our stuff. The work we did was really fair and we had a lot of fun working together with him as well! He cooked delicious meals and even prepared breakfast every morning before we were even up. We felt really comfortable around him, played games together, made music and had movie nights, what was also really fun. He lives in a beautiful area surrounded by forest and a river to swim in. Overall we had a really lovely time and highly recommend to stay with him!

We had an amazing experience with Cole. No task was too big or too small for him and he was always willing to help out. Family is one of our most important values and he fit right in with us. He connected very well with the younger Vietnamese staff and other volunteers. Cole had excellent customer service skills also. During his time with us, we experienced severe flooding and damage to our hostel. Cole was very helpful with the clean up process. Thank you so much Cole for your help, please come back soon :( <3

I had a great time with them in an amazing sourrounding. I worked every day with the animals and learned a Lot how their Tours work. In my free time i got a lot of advice for the best places to visite in the area. We were talking about nice and interessting things. Thank you for the time.

I loved my time with Jaco and Alex! They made me feel welcome right away and were so generous with their appreciation and kindness. It was a wonderful opportunity to get back to basics and enjoy the simple pleasures in life - time in nature, interesting conversations, and fresh food from the garden. I deeply appreciate the time Jaco gave to share her knowledge of gardening and for the trust so I could experiment and learn new woodworking skills. I also deeply appreciate the care Alex showed me in making sure I had everything I needed and was super generous with sharing his books and spices with me. My time with you both was truely a gift, thank you for having me!

I had a wonderful time with Selena, her father, and their two lovely dogs, Hachiko and Megumi. Selena welcomed me so warmly and made me feel completely part of the family. I got to try lots of delicious local food, we went to the market together, and I had the chance to explore her neighborhood. One week was definitely too short to discover everything, but I really enjoyed finding a nice routine with the dogs and slowing down a bit. We even went to a Golden Retriever event together, which was amazing, and I got to experience the beautiful Lantern Festival! All in all, I would absolutely recommend spending time with Selena to anyone who loves dogs. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Kuala Lumpur again! Thank you so much for the wonderful time! 💛

Having Lorenzo was a wonderful experience. He is reliable, creative, and very autonomous. I was pleasantly surprised by his skill and maturity, especially for someone so young. He takes initiative, brings great ideas, and carries them out with responsibility and enthusiasm. He also speaks Spanish very well, which made communication easy and natural. It was a real pleasure to share this time with him — his presence brought freshness, joy, and commitment to the project. Thank you, Lorenzo, for all that you contributed!

Thank you Cerys for staying with us. Even if it was a short time we got to meet you and we were not there you did a fantastic help and we grateful with your work. Cerys looked after our dog and cat and cared for the house while we were away. She is a polite, friendly, helpful person and I can recommend her to anyone who is looking for someone responsible and helpful. We were extremely fortunate to spend three weeks at the rescue and are truly grateful for the experience. Gaby is a wonderful person — full of light, compassion, and endless love for her animals. She was an absolute pleasure to work with. The dogs and cats here are incredible — so full of character, resilience, and affection. Every day spent with them in nature was a gift. Whether it was morning walks, playtime, or quiet moments in the sun, you can feel how much love lives in this place. If we could have stayed longer, we absolutely would have. The animals and Gaby deserve all the help they can get, and I hope future volunteers come with love, an open mind, and compassion for these amazing animals and this beautiful project. I can’t recommend it enough.

This was our first workaway experience and exposure to permaculture. We didn't know much going in, but Jackie and Julia happily shared their knowledge and experience. A lot of the work was challenging (especially creating new veggie/crop beds), but there was a good balance between harder tasks out in the sun and easier, more shady ones. We did a lot of painting, greenhouse work, compost harvesting, and planting/fertilizing grasses and trees. The typical work day was 8 to noon-ish, but they had no problem with us working 6-10 to beat some of the heat! We also had a great time getting to know the 3 volunteers up at the farm with us and the other volunteer staying at their current homestead. We made several group dinners, played games, and had fun getting to know Siquijor together. The farm also has a sweet resident dog, LC, and several neighbor dogs that liked to escort us up and down the driveway. The only major downside was that there weren't any cats or farm animals on the farm yet. We're looking forward to returning some day and seeing the new homestead and programs up and running!

We honored to meeting Noah. He was an absolutely gem. We are deeply grateful for Noah for supporting my family in so many ways!!!! He is very respectful, very polite,caring, loving,open minded smart person. He took on every tasks with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, whether it was helping around the land and our house,simply being with my girls and entertaining them. He integrated seamlessly with our family was incredibly engaging. He has done such an amazing jobs for especially with our Japanese fruits trees !!!It was incredible! I really enjoyed to having great conversations with him about our life. Overall it was such a special feeling to having him around like one of our family member!!!! Thank you so much for everything Noah. We hope to see you soon again in the near future!!
