Staying with Johannes, Sabine, and little Raphael through Workaway was an absolutely incredible experience for both me and my 9-year-old son. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed as part of the family, and we are deeply grateful for the warmth and care they showed us throughout our stay. What was initially planned as a one-month stay turned into six wonderful months, simply because we felt so loved, comfortable, and at home with them. Johannes and Sabine, along with their intelligent and independent 3-year-old son Raphael, shared so many beautiful experiences with us. They took us skiing and treated us to an unforgettable weekend in Rosenheim, and we also had the chance to explore Munich together. These moments are memories we will always treasure. Beyond the amazing personal connection, they supported us tremendously during our first months in Germany. They went above and beyond to help us navigate bureaucratic matters, paperwork, and appointments with city and government offices—something that can be quite overwhelming when you're new to the country. The work itself was very flexible and always reasonable. It included helping with household tasks, gardening, and assisting with the renovation of their house. We were never alone in the tasks—either Johannes or Sabine were always around, making the work feel collaborative and pleasant. We are truly grateful for everything: for the support, the laughter, the learning, and especially for being treated like family. Thank you for making our first chapter in Germany so special. Tanta was the first Irish workaway we have ever had and he represented his country with true class. He was so helpful, he saw every single job through until it was finished that day, nothing was left undone. He watched our kids and our whole family felt very comfortable around him. He shared some of his native language with us, things about Ireland and many laughs and great experiences. Everyone in our family loves him and we have gained a family friend for life. “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”…. He shared that full saying with me which I never knew the entirety of and it seems fitting he did because we all love him. He was a true compliment to our family and community and made a difference everyday he was with us. Tanta is welcome back anytime! Slainte!

Rayhan is an amazing human being. He is bold, honest, sweet, funny and caring. I felt 100% free to talk about anything and everything with him, from silly things to polemic stuff, all with humor but also awereness and tenderness... A pleasure to host him! See you around the north my friend!

This review is very delayed, my apologies Paul! Paul's goofy & nice nature made for a positive experience right from the start. The to-do list was always manageable and planned in advance, allowing for time to enjoy walks, swims, etc. He is very inclusive and happy to invite you to his social events and other day-to-day outings. A big thumbs up for the lovely & healthy food, Paul. All the best!

I had a wonderful stay at Pablo's place, it was an insightful, fun time whilst waking up to a painting-like landscape each morning. The work I did consisted of the following: gardening, painting the caravan, landscaping and cleaning the house. The work was varied, flexible and I learnt things which I hadn't done before! The house is quite rural with a lack of many neighbours (but German and Mari are wonderful) or shops nearby, so I did have to adapt to the isolation. But the house has wonderful views, a refreshing lake to swim, so it's a great place if you're seeking tranquility! On our kind host: Pablo is an intelligent, honest and interesting dude. We caught him at a difficult, uncertain time, but he still hosted us well, and kept us in good spirits! We watched movies, went to the lake, lifted some heavy weights, partook in his yoga class and ate zucchini's, and more zucchini's (we were privileged to an unusual abundant harvest) . Thank you for the kind, wonderful time Pablo!

Jakob is wonderful, he brought his ready to work attitude and did his very best to accomplish tasks. He enjoyed spending time with our kids and was a welcome addition to celebrations with our family and friends during his stay with us. He fit right into our household with a good work ethic, fun personality and eagerness to help where ever he was needed. He is welcome back to our home whenever he likes. I especially enjoyed him sharing his European handball teams anthem with me, I’m still singing it! Go Flensberg-Handewitt!!! Go Jakob

I stayed at Camilles place for two weeks and it was an amazing experience! I mostly helped in his beautiful garden, planting tomatos, beans and other vegetables. Camille is a very kind and open host, who on the one hand has a structured plan of tasks, which makes it very easy to contribute to his projects and on the other hand is absolutly open, if you want to go on trips independantly or do specific activities. He knows the area very well and can show you around the most beautiful spots. I enjoyed my stay at Camilles very much and I would be happy to come back some day!

I had an amazing time volunteering. It was exactly the experience I was looking for, fully immersed in the local culture and contributing to a real cause that helps real people. Aron is an enthusiastic man, full of ideas and initiative, and he’s not afraid to give his all to his projects. Staying at his home and spending time with Jesca, his wife, and Santos, their baby boy, was a true bliss. I felt extremely welcomed and part of the family. I learned so much during my time there — about climate change, syntropic agroforestry, Tanzanian culture, generosity, and the power of community. Thank you, guys! I’ll keep my Tanzanian family always in my heart. 💛

It was the most unique and one of the best experiences in my entire trip through Canada and I will never forget the time there. Every person in this community was so different and beautiful in their own ways. Every thing I have seen and experienced there is just unimaginable if you haven't been there. This might not be a place for everyone, but if you're a open minded person and willing to learn about new things you never thought of and also to learn a lot about your self, this is it. love you guys:))

First I just want to say what a pleasure it was so spend 5 weeks here! I felt welcomed the moment I arrived and sometimes couldn't believe I was in someone elses house with how at ease it felt. So thank you guys! Everyone was really easy to get along with I am grateful for the relationships that developed during my time. I loved the times spent cooking together, learning new card games, going climbing, and all sorts of conversations in between. The work days never felt too full on, but we definitely worked, and the days flew by very quickly. Even with the language barrier between myself and Gaetan I still learnt some skills, and I was impressed even watching his tricks of trade, he is really a master of his craft! I do feel like the work would've been smoother and I could have learned more if my French was better, because I had many questions to ask (either out of interest of for clarity on the task at hand) but it was difficult to converse sometimes. But still it was enjoyable, and an exciting project to see coming together! Also the place is very serene, and its a perfect opportunity to slow down and enjoy time by yourself and with others :) I hope to see you all again one day! Much love!

Joo is the best host we could ever have hoped for during our Workaway experience. He is kind, knowledgeable, encouraging, caring, multi-talented, multi-cultural, communicative, and incredibly fun. We felt so lucky to stay at Joo's place that we extended our visit—we just didn't want to leave! As crazy as it sounds, he felt more like a parent to us than our own. We were comfortable sharing everything with him, enjoying deep conversations about topics we wouldn’t normally discuss with friends or family. What Joo might not realise is that we were quite emotional and even shed a few tears the night before leaving. We absolutely loved the animals—Magic, Milk, Ram, the chickens, and the goats. The gardening work was super enjoyable, making this experience far more rewarding and memorable than any travel we've had in Europe so far. We're truly grateful for your kind, encouraging and wise words, and your truly amazing personality. We can't wait to return and visit Joo and the animals again soon!

Words cannot even begin to describe the kindness of the people of Salalah, it is something you have to experience for yourself. I spent 10 days with Mo'amar and his friends/family, but I could have easily stayed longer. Mo'amar is one of the funniest and most kind hearted people I have met in my entire life. You can talk to him about anything and he is so open minded. Everyone he introduced me to in Salalah and Taqa became my friend. Everyday we did something fun together, whether it was having dinner in the desert, going to admire the lush greenery of the Dhofar Khareef season, discovering the history of frankincense, milking cows on the mountain, or listening to Ashraf sing some Arabic songs in his studio whilst eating Chips Oman. I even mastered the local dance thanks to Mo'amar's cousin teaching me, and got some beautiful traditional clothes. Not to mention, the food is incredible here and Mo'amar made sure I tried everything that was local. I cannot recommend this experience enough, it will always be in my heart and I truly felt at home. I can also say that I made some real friends that I will stay in touch with. Thank you for everything!

Sie war unglaublich fleißig beim Unkrautjäten, hat zuverlässig die Pflanzen gegossen und sich engagiert um die Versorgung unserer Tiere gekümmert. Zudem war sie immer freundlich, hilfsbereit und offen für alles. Besonders haben wir die anregenden und interessanten Gespräche sowie die gemeinsamen Spaziergänge genossen. Vielen lieben Dank für deine tolle Hilfe und Unterstützung, Romina – wir haben die Zeit mit dir sehr geschätzt!

What an incredible family – amazing parents and such lovely daughters. Humaira and Maryam should be proud to have such wonderful parents. I had the privilege of being part of this kind and generous family for five days. From the very beginning, they gave me a private room and treated me like a guest, not just a volunteer who was supposed to help out a little. Safira’s cooking was fantastic, and during my stay I got to enjoy many delicious meals, even though I was supposed to cook for myself. But They generously shared their food with me every day. Honestly, I didn’t do much to help in this house, but I received so much kindness, respect, and care in return. One day I even went cycling with Zhafran and Maryam, and it was a great experience – it had been years since I last rode a bike, and I had so much fun. On the last night, we had a long conversation with Zhafran and Safira about travel and our own experiences, as well as those of our friends — and I truly enjoyed it. I’m deeply thankful to Zhafran and Safira for welcoming me and letting me stay with them for a few days. Thanks to Humaira for the delicious cake she made, and to little Maryam for teaching me some Malay words. BTY I’m sure one day I’ll see Humaira and Maryam on TV as tennis champions😎

In this short review, I am writing about my hosts, their place,the impact of people there,and state my view, Chandra is a beautiful soul and body.She is not only,caring,all-smiles,all-ears,well-organised, knowledgeable, hardworking, welcoming,but also,a very good Meditation and therapist teacher.As for Wim,he is a funny, smart, welcoming,kind, hardworking handyman,all-ears and suggestions,a good companion,but also,a good Mantra and meditation teacher. This is a beautiful retreat resort with a natural swimming pool,Sonna, river,trees,and three clean and well organised houses,caravans,tents... It's not far from villages .Too, there are two nice cats that will welcome you and hens that will give you organic eggs...The food is varied, high quality organic and delucious.the atmosphere is family like. The tasks are varied and tailored to your own skills, knowledge and experience.They are ranged from carpentery, plumbing, electricity,cooking, cleaning, renovating, organising.. All hosts, volunteers and guests have knitted a family -like connection through sharing cultural,personal and even secrets stories,fears, worries, expectations, due to the hosts care and the relaxing environment .Hence after a short time,we connected,laughed, teased eacher other,made jokes,kuddles huggs,played games ,exchanged anecdotes,secrets, cared for the sick ones,...in short,a new family was born out of new fathers,mothers, brothers,sisters and hopefully future soul-mates and lovers.... Last,but not least,this is a humble and consise summary that a feedback cannot circle.I feel that I learned a lot about myself in this amazing experience and hope to meet most ,if not all ,these nice people either at my place, theirs or somewhere in this beautiful world. Camila is one of those rare people who instantly makes a positive impact wherever she goes. During her one-month stay with us in Morogoro, Tanzania. Camila proved to be , super energetic, confident, independent, and incredibly hardworking. She has a unique ability to understand things quickly, always asking the right questions and taking initiative without waiting to be told what to do. Camila came with her own creative energy using infographics and videos to communicate our projects in ways we never imagined possible. She helped us summarize complex project documentation into simple, clear, and engaging formats, making it easier to reach out to supporters and friends globally. Beyond her work, Camila was an absolute joy to have around, charming, full of interesting stories blended into our family life. She became more than a volunteer, to part of the family. For any host expecting someone who can work hard, communicate effectively, and bring good energy to both work and home life, Camila is a "perfect choice". I personly highly recommend Camila without any hesitation and would love to host her again anytime!

Clara was here for a week. She helped me do all kind of things in my new house. And we did family constellations. ❤️ Clara is open, smart, fun to be with, learns fast (we did a lot of electricity, some computer things, we built a bed, and picked up two couches from marketplace). I can so much recommend her. And come back here, whenever you have time Clara.

My experience at Sara's farm was very nourishing. She has a beautiful property with lots of different projects, and she is very clear and helpful when explaining the tasks she wants you to do. There's no stress involved — everything is done in harmony with the place. Each morning begins with walking the funny sheep from their shelter to a parcel of land where they can eat fresh greens all day. After that, we usually did some weeding or small repairs for an hour or two, sometimes mixed with washing veggies or totes. We always finished by collecting the eggs and feeding the chickens during the last 30 minutes. So it’s about 3 hours of service, with a nice variety of tasks and time spent with the animals! In addition to the regular schedule, Sara has other projects that need to be done, and if you're willing to do extra hours, she will pay you. In my opinion, Sara offers a very fair and generous work exchange. At the end of my 3-week stay, I felt grounded and rested. I highly recommend her farm, and Cortes Island is a must-visit — there’s so much to do and there's a beautiful, warm community involved in every activity.

I am incredibly glad I chose your project for my first trip with WorkAway. I know I will forever keep you close to my heart. You have taught me things I will never want to unlearn. Even though I needed some time to adapt to the different lifestyle of Uganda, I eventually found myself enjoying every single day I spent at school and with the children. I was well taken care of and felt welcome almost immediately. Thank you for your trust and your generosity! To all future volunteers: I am not the most adventurous person and I often need time to get out of my shell. The older I get, the more of an introvert I become. Trust me however when I say, if you want to push yourself out of your comfort zone a little bit like I wanted to, this project is perfect for you. You will be getting a lot of (sometimes unwanted) attention and you will need some time to feel at home, however, no one pushes you or forces you to do anything you aren't comfortable with. You have enough time for yourself if you need to recharge and you can pick the tasks you think suit you best. There might be moments where you feel overwhelmed and lost but believe me when I say, this is part of the journey. Also, as soon as you meet the wonderful children at the School, you will realize that you made the right decision. The smiles, the laughter and the time spent together will make you feel whole and happy. You will quickly realize that time and attention is one of the greatest gifts a person can give.
