This short stay with Alessandro and Elena felt like a whole lifetime filled with joy, great laughter, discovery, profound conversations —and incredible food. I felt like part of the family: truly welcomed, safe, and accepted for who I am. Alessandro, Elena, and their whole family are deeply knowledgeable about nature, plants, and animals. I loved learning from them and helping wherever I could. It was inspiring to see how Alessandro manages to balance work and responsibilities with celebration and fun. As an artist, I felt supported and encouraged, and painting a mural inspired by Sardinian Nature and Folklore in this magical place was an absolute honor!!! Leaving was not easy at all, and I already miss everyone and everything. But my heart is full, and I carry this experience with deep gratitude. I already can’t wait to return!

We had a lot of wonderful experiences at this farm, thanks to Deva and Maha. We could only speak a little English, but they were always kind and caring towards us. It feels so good to spend every day in beautiful nature and live so close to nature, and every day is special. We help for 4 hours a day, painting, sanding, removing vines from the fruit farm, and cleaning. None of the help is difficult, and Deva and Maha help us to help comfortably. We met some wallabies, and the meals we all ate around the fire are very good memories. And as for food, they prepare enough ingredients for us to cook and eat every day. I think it's a great place for people who like nature and fruit! Even if you don't, it's a wonderful place to make new discoveries. We miss the farm and you guys so much already. Thank you Deva and Maha for everything !!!!!!

Lorena spent 5 weeks with us. Helping with all our daily chores, nothing was too much for her. Gardening, cleaning out the garage, walking and taking care of the lamas and sheep. A lovely addition to our household. Welcome back anytime 😁

Absolutely delighted to have had the pleasure of you and Fritte staying with us. Hannah is a fantastic worker, not afraid to get her hands dirty. You are such a kind a wonderful person and a fantastic easy going personality. We loved having both stay and look forward to seeing you again.Hannah has her own car. Her dog is so well behaved and was a pleasure to have in the house. She is so quiet. We were extremely lucky with the amazing weather so Hannah got loads of outside work done for me and I will be forever grateful. You are more than welcome to come back anytime. Kate is a friendly and bubbly person who does everything with a smile on her face. She was known to our group as the games master as she loves to get everybody together for games during our free time. Kate helped lots on the farm and when she has an idea she loves to see it through. Kate has good knowledge of plants (and is an expert at mushrooms). She brought a lot to the farm and we would recommend her to other hosts. Thank you Kate and come back soon!

Jimmy has been the perfect workawayer for us. He has returned to work at the site for a second camping season, and has been thorough and reliable at all times, polite and friendly to the campers and a generally really nice person to have around! We know we can trust him to get on with his jobs without needing to be checked or supervised, and the numerous reviews we have mentioning 'spotlessly clean facilities' and 'friendly staff' are thanks to Jimmy's hard work and attention to detail and helpful manner. We would be more than happy to host Jimmy any time he wanted to come here.

I was very surprised by Mir. In spite of her young age she is a very mature, responsible and sensitive person. She has the humbleness of a Buddha! Her work was excellent and we enjoyed her presence very much. It was a gift to receive her!

We stayed for 1 month with Junko and Frank. Both are very friendly and happy people. There is always someone singing in the house. They are helpful in the search for work and finding your feet . We worked for 5 days a week and 3 hours a day. They are flexible and are open for changes in the planning. We did a various of tasks: gardening, painting windows, clearing spaces and demolishing a chicken coop. The provide clean and spacious accommodation where every worker has his own privacy. We spend 4 lovely weeks in there home! Thank you :)

Niels and Kelly joined us in the rather intense and stressful period of forest pruning ('spring cleanup'), while we were preparing for our yearly spring party. They provided invaluable support when we needed it most, despite them facing personal challenges. When they were not able to help anymore, they communicated this clearly and they still supported us more than we would have dared to expect of them. Thank you so much guys, we really hope you'll be back again!

Sara was an amazingly caring and reliable help, with an unending love for our cats (including their special diabetic needs). We hugely appreciate that she took her own space and indicated and kept her limits, taking breaks when necessary and, conversely, being there for us when we needed her. Please come back (soon) Sara, we miss you already! 🥹 Our spring party literally would not have been possible without your support!

My experience working with Emma was short, only one week, but very pleasant. Her work was excellent, always ready to help, even out of her workingtime. We had a good time playing games and I enjoyed very much listening to her violin. She is very communicative and openminded. I can recommend Emma very much!

I ended up volunteering with Chris and Julie over a few months and enjoyed my time with them greatly. At some points it was just me with them and other times there where other workawayers but throughout the whole process everyone I met was fantastic. Working with Chris and Julie is a great way to experience another side of Thailand and it feels really rewarding being able to interact with the different communities we travel to. Some of the best Thai food I ate was through volunteering with them, Chris is an amazing cook and if you are lucky enough to eat at his brothers restaurants it will be something to remember. Teaching was something new to me and it definitely pushed me out of my normal comfort zones but I found it immensely rewarding and have lots of great memories dressing up as Santa and playing games with the kids. I can recommend volunteering here without hesitation!

Apologies for leaving this review in Japanese. 日本語でのレビュー失礼します。 今回work awayを利用するのは初めてだったのですが、本当に素晴らしい体験が出来ました。ティーナとリーには感謝しかないです！ 私は2週間と少し、滞在させていただきました。 ヘルプする内容は、4匹の猫のお世話をしたり、植物の手入れや家の掃除、料理のヘルプなどが基本でした。難しい事は何一つありません。(会話は基本英語になります) 立地的にもとても便利な場所で、休みの日などは自転車を借りて散歩したり、皆で海までドライブに行ったり、ランチやディナーに出掛け、ローカルの魅力をより一層知る事が出来ます。 自由な環境で、ティーナとリーはとても優しくフレンドリーで、ヘルプするという感覚ではなく、一緒に生活や暮らしをすると言った感じで、本当にここを選んで良かったです。 近所の人達も皆ウェルカムで優しくクールで、私はお酒が好きなので毎晩皆で喋ったりビリヤードをしたりして、最高の暮らしでした。 元々はシャイで、初めてという事もあり最初は緊張していましたが、すぐに慣れる事が出来ました。 いつか絶対、またここに戻ってきます。旅をする中で最高の思い出の一つです。ありがとうございました！！

I was at 佛光山 for 3 weeks in November. When I arrived, I was a bit stressed and anxious because global events. When I left, I took with me the peace and serenity that I found and enjoyed at 佛光山. Communications with Venerable Hui Zan and uber volunteer Boey was always prompt and thorough. If there are issues or concerns, they would connect in person to hear the concerns and address them. They were amazing coordinators and hosts. The accommodations were basic, comfortable, and clean. Each room, with en-suite bath, can accommodate up to 6 people. I was lucky to have amazing room mates, who were thoughtful, considerate, funny and so much fun to be with. There is also gender specific washrooms and laundry room. Some of the assigned tasks can be laborious, though rarely challenging. Volunteers are generally not assigned tasks that local volunteers, venerable/monks or students wouldn’t do themselves. Each task lead has their own way or a 佛光山 way of doing things, so as long as you follow the instructions, the work is fairly easy. If a health or safety concern raised, Venerable Hui Zan will take that feedback and find a workaround or excuse the volunteer from that task. The grounds at 佛光山 is huge and expansive. There are lots of places to walk and wander. We enjoyed a lot of free time to visit the calligraphy hall, local villages, go hiking or go to Kaohsiung, which is conveniently accessible with a direct Kaohsiung station - 佛光山 bus that runs multiple times a day. I enjoy this workaway so much, I’m looking forward to visiting again. I highly recommend this workaway.

We got a chance to spend two weeks on Mia and Roy's finca. It was our first experience of living off grid. After evening talks and showing pics how it all started, the place thanks to Mia's and Roy's hard work (and everybody,s who participated) is getting more comfortable bit by bit. Thank you for getting the mindset how to use what is available regarding material and food. We already applied some permaculure tips to our gardening practices. It is hard work but satisfying. The finca is just outside the village, reachable on foot, but feels as if you are far away. It is an ongoing project, you always find jobs to be done. It is not all about work, Mia and Roy took us to Chantada Farmers market-sale of plants, household items, livestock, local food. At the time of our stay on the finca there were fiestas in Castro village (Mia and Roy were helping there) and we had a chance to soak up the good vibes, people of all ages were having fun.

I had a really really good time here. In the end I didn't want to leave, because everything was just so nice there. Waking up with such an amazing view at the fjord, being happily welcomed by the 13 goats that roam around and Lola the dog (she is soo adorable) and eating with Geir and Jorunn the great food Jorunn made. The next neighbour lives far away, so we were surrounded by nature. Everything felt so peaceful but not lonely. They sometimes had visitors and we also drove to nearby villages or cities. I recommend to visit Bergen (it's a beautiful and really old city). There is so much more to talk about but in short: They try to make you as comfortable as possible and you can talk about everything with them. I definitely will come back at some point!

Dear sweet Veronica, Thank you - Grazie Mille - for spending the last few weeks with us here in Galway. You are an amazing human and we all thoroughly enjoyed every minute with you including the Pineapple Tiramisu. Looking forward to visiting you in Italy! Móna, Ron, Jack, Kai and all the gang here

Christine hosted us last minute and for bit less than 2 weeks (17.03.-28.03.). During that time we (I stayed here with a friend) helped her preparing the garden for spring. A few of the jobs were pruning the apple trees, removing grass from the flower beds, cleaning the greenhouse and cutting down a tree. On a pretty fast desicion we also digged out its roots with a mini excavator. The food was great and she used a lot of ingredients from her garden. Christine is kind and helpful and wanted us to feel as comfortable as possible. It was nice listening to her stories about experiences in other countries. The house is close to Lund and Malmö, so when Christine had some appointments there we would come along and visit the cities. Thank you for the great time here! :)

Saskia was extremely helpful She engaged with all activities throughly and with enthusiasm. She makes excellent cinnamon whirls and even found our queen bee in a busy hive .
