Alkit was an incredible part of the foundation team. From day one, he brought positive energy, commitment, and a genuine desire to help others. One of his most meaningful contributions was helping Santy move one step closer to receiving his mobility device, creating a real impact on his independence and quality of life. Beyond that, Alkit helped Simon and the team work smarter by bringing fresh ideas, improving processes, and always looking for practical solutions. What stood out most was his willingness to jump into any challenge, learn quickly, and contribute far beyond what was expected. He became part of our community, connected with our mission, and left a lasting impact on both the organization and the people we serve. We are grateful for his time with us and would gladly recommend him to any future host. Alkit is not only a great volunteer but also a great human being.

My time at the foundation was a genuinely enriching experience. The team is large and diverse — with people working across different areas like the workshop, tour preparation, and community outreach — which means there's something meaningful for everyone to contribute to. I was involved in fundraising, and felt well supported throughout. What stayed with me most was working alongside people with disabilities. It's a humbling and eye-opening experience that really broadened my perspective on the world. I'd recommend this project to anyone looking for more than just a volunteering checkbox — it's the kind of place that actually changes how you see things.

Chloé was a devoted and a lovely volunteer. She was proactive, kind and helped us with our marketing and class plan. The kids loved her and also the teachers, we would love to host her again!

Almo llegó a casa en el momento perfecto, con una energía alegre y muy empatica 😌 es muy linda para trabajar en equipo (pues éramos 5) y balanceaba el grupo. Aoife only stayed two days but she was a lovely, happy, hardworking guest.

Maddy and Jodie were fantastic. Great to have around and very helpful. We even invited them back to stay when their van broke down. Highly recommend.

Emie is an outstanding workawayer and a beautiful person. I cannot rate her highly enough. Diligent, respectful, intelligent approach to every task, extremely able physically, multi-skilled, always appreciative and very loving towards animals and the natural environment. Girts and Rasa's family are excellent hosts, I drove into small community nestled in Latvia's woods, met by Girts and his brotherly eyes, listened to an interesting story of how they've started journey in the land. I've stayed in cozy cabin right by the river, with all comforts included, and functional 4g reception. Surrounded by the nature, it was perfect private retreat starting my days with new tasks of the day over very laid back atmosphere. Girts will take into account what you can and can't do or what preferences you might have. It was really fun having their little son keeping me company, and being overwhelmingly helpful and bringing me either water or a hat or dandelions depends on a day, haha. I've got to meet some more friendly people either from surrounding community or people involved with work, within two weeks I've done sound ceremony, sauna, and had an option to watch community performance, You can choose to be involved in anything that's going on. Make sure you'll ask about their buckwheat dish that is brought to the next level, it's 10 out of 10! I was happy with my stay, I do recommend! Thanks :)

I stayed at her house for a week. The work was simple, such as weeding the garden, watering the plants, cleaning the floors, and cleaning the bathroom. There is a market about a 20–30 minute walk from her house. She is very kind and truly passionate about learning about different cultures. She is a professional traveler. I will never forget what I learned from her about the history of Peru. While I was staying in Peru, she kindly kept some of my extra luggage for me. I can’t thank her enough.

My volunteering experience here has been really good! At the school, I was expected to help for around 3-4 hours a day. Ahmed, the secretary, is always happy to have a chat and help. The students are happy to see volunteers and learn in interactive ways. With students aging from 7 to +35 depending on the groups, I learned to make fun English activities. I especially loved working with the women’s adult class. It was so much fun and awesome for cultural exchange as we talked about lots of subjects for practise, therefore sharing our cultures. Working with kids was also interesting as I learned some class management tips. Cultural exchange is a real thing with this workaway. By talking to students, teachers, Ahmed and living next to the host family, day by day I’ve learned a lot about Moroccan culture. About the accommodation, I was with a fellow volunteer in an apartment next to the host family’s house. It wasn’t fully equipped at the time I came (May 2026), but the host family are sweathearts and ready to share. It’s not located inside the city of Tetouan, so there is a 15-20 min commute by bus or taxi to go to the school in the city.It’s really cheap (around 5cts) and I got used to it really quickly. I am very grateful for the experience I had during these eight days with Nash, Stefan, and their children, Lyubov and little Kiran. I felt welcomed as part of the household. My main responsibility was looking after the children, though never both at the same time—always one child at a time. It was a rewarding experience because both Lyubov and Kiran are curious, engaging, and kind children. Spending time with them was enjoyable, and their energy and enthusiasm made the days pass quickly. Nash and Stefan welcomed me warmly into their home and made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. I enjoyed learning about their life in a small mountain village, where they are part of a community of like-minded people who value cooperation, harmony, and a healthy lifestyle. I also appreciated our conversations about travel, family life, and different ways of living. One thing that impressed me was the way they encourage their children to become independent from an early age while creating a supportive and loving environment. During my stay, they organized a children's cooperative at their home and in their garden together with other children from Sofia, which was a very interesting experience to observe. They were always considerate of my need for privacy and personal time when I was not helping with the children or with small household tasks. I stayed in a separate cottage attached to the main house. From its large windows, I could enjoy beautiful views over Samokov, the surrounding valley, and the nearby mountain peaks. The cottage has a bathroom with reliable hot water and fast Wi-Fi. The toilet is outside and is a composting toilet. The food in their home is mainly vegetarian, varied, and freshly prepared. They also use fresh eggs from chickens raised in the village and fresh milk that they make into homemade yogurt. Every day there were warm meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as fresh fruit. During my stay, I felt relaxed, respected, and free to express my thoughts. This experience had a very positive impact on me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time with their family. I learned a lot, enjoyed my stay, and would be happy to visit them again in the future.
