I have never stayed at a place wanting to extend my time there, but with Manfred's shelter, i felt like I wanted to stay longer and longer till all the baby joeys graduate from the pouches 🥺❤️ The accommodation and food provided was amazing, i enjoyed cooking for everyone for lunch.... and dinner😂 The workload was distributed really nicely amongst all the volunteers, it is tough work, but it never gets boring. On my days off i loved visiting the city which Manfred was oh so kind enough to take me to and back from the train station! My 3 weeks stay there has been absolutely amazing and I've never felt happier... I will be back!!! Till then, sending my love to all the Roos 🦘 (especially my donkey boy webby 🩷🩷)

Volunteering at Arts & Crafts Village was quite an unforgettable 1 1/2 months for me. It was my very first Volunteering and I was shy and quiet at first. But everyone was very respectful, kind, caring, and generous. The working hours in March/April were from 9-3 pm with a one hour Lunch break in between. I mostly did a variety of different tasks every time. Some gardening, cutting firewood, helping in the kitchen, putting together orders for their products, helping with guests, workshops and doing some daily tasks. The two days off were situated on the weekend but could be taken anytime if communicated. Toyomi San is always on the go though always takes time to listen to questions or concerns. Additionally a pretty funny, knowledgeable and talkative personality, making it easy to learn something new every day. MeMe San cooked delicious food and it was always a delight to learn about and try out the handpicked mountain herbs and vegetables. Eating all these dishes were a major highlight during my time there and I gained some healthy weight! I also want to thank Aki San and Michiko San for helping me learning new Japanese words and widen my vocabulary. Of course also for having fun day to day conversation with me! During my time at acv I could also do my own arts&crafts projects. There are many weaving handloom options to choose from. So come in prepared to reply to the question Toyomi San probably will ask as in what kind of art projects you would want to do. Some things to mention when applying: acv is amidst the mountains in a valley. That makes it difficult to reach the nearest station easily and if you don’t have a car you need to communicate to leave the space to the nearest city/station. Also during spring time it was pretty cold inside the building. If you’re a cold sensitive person please make sure to come in prepped. Thank you acv for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel apart of this little village amidst the beautiful mountains of Okayama!

Christiane and her son stayed with me for a housesitting and garden-watering stay while I was away. The plants were alive and well when I returned home. Christiane baked some very nice bread and also made some special herb-based sparkling drinks during her stay. Christiane is soft-spoken, kind and polite. She seemed most comfortable when given clear tasks and guidance, rather than working independently or taking initiative on her own. I think she and her son would be a particularly good match for hosts who have a more structured and hands-on approach. Thank you both, and I wish you all the best for the future.

Huge thank you to Agata, Tamir, Victor, and Mukgal for hosting me for the weeks I was in Kharkhorin! There weren’t a huge amount of guests while I was visiting as it was still early in the tourist season, so the help was mostly just in and around the house. Agata clearly outlined what needed doing and was super flexible with me creating my own schedule, doing more on some days and taking free time on others. You guys were such an interesting and enjoyable crew to get to know, and I really value the conversations we had and the things I learnt while with you. Best of luck with everything, and hopefully I’ll see you again!

We spent 7 days with Nicole and Jean Marie. They were really kind with us, we could shared work, experiences, laugh and curiosities as for their culture. The house is very beautiful with antique furniture and decoration, is like living in a museum. Also, we explored interesting places with them . They offered us delicious meals, Nicole is an excellent cooker We highly recommend all of you to stay some days with them. Vicente and Jacobo

Thomas was a kind guy who wants to share everything and very interested to be friendly with everyone. He was a guy who brought happiness to everyone most especially with the children he was so so so addicted. We can't forget the short time we spent with you. Even though it was one month, it was really a nice time and short for us. We will always be welcoming you Uncle T. We wish you nice time .

We like Lina very much. She was helpful and a good worker. Always with a smile in the face. She lent one of our bicykle and take trips on her own too the natur. On the day off, She took the bus too Lund. We work together with our workaway and it was a pleasure to bee with Lina.We did some painting, gardering and make some food together. We hope we meet again!

Amazing experience with a great family! Good memories and shared moments! It's a really great island, pretty chill, and Phonephet and his family are very friendly. It was a local experience that I'd never forget! I recommend it!

Kilian stayed with us for more than a month, and we couldn’t have asked for a better Workawayer. He is an incredibly kind, friendly, and genuine person who quickly became part of our family and community. Throughout his stay, Kilian was always willing to help and regularly asked if there was anything else he could do. He approached every task with a positive attitude, worked hard, and was always reliable. His initiative and willingness to go the extra mile were truly appreciated. Beyond his work, Kilian brought great energy to our place. He is funny, easy to get along with, and made everyone feel comfortable. Whether working, sharing meals, or simply spending time together, he was always a pleasure to be around. We are very grateful for all his help and for the positive impact he had during his stay. I had a lovely stay at Sanne and Francis' home in Saint Ambroix. I arrived a few days earlier to get the lay of the land. Midi and Tofu are very affectionate and kind dogs and terrific company, never a dull moment with them. The garden is exploding too, always a treat in there somewhere.Everything that you need close by and I also managed to get the kms up on the bike! Solitude and serenity with some incredible river swimming. Thank you again for all your generosity:)

We had such a great time with Becky on the farm! We will miss her and her animals! Our work was varied and we were able to learn a lot of new skills (clearing land, building steps, retiling the pool). The house and area was so beautiful and quiet. She gave us lifts to nearby towns for community events, meeting friends, and eating great food! We hope to see you soon Becky!

What a lovely little family! It was my 2md experience with workaway and it exceeded my expectations. Celine and Jerome are very welcoming in their space; both them and their kids are interesting beings : kind , fun and with some depth , spiritually . They are well travelled and open minded. They have created a nice space for themselves with views on the hills , a big avocado tree that keeps giving ; I went 3 times volunteering for them , during different seasons , I was also lucky to participate to family events . I do consider them 4 like my friends now , I do recommend. A stay with them . Food is real Good under their roof , good for the soul all around . Thank you Celine, Guillaume, Elsa and Theophile

We absolutely loved our stay with Lynne, who is an exceptional host. From the very first day, she made us feel completely at home. She is a kind, generous, open-minded person with countless fascinating stories to share, and we truly enjoyed spending time with her. One of the most inspiring aspects of this experience was discovering the incredible work Lynne does with rescued animals. She has dedicated herself to saving many animals and gives each one the individual attention they need. Watching her take the time to understand their personalities, assess their needs, and provide the best possible care was both fascinating and inspiring. The workload was very reasonable and well balanced. Our daily tasks mainly consisted of feeding the animals, cleaning enclosures, and occasionally helping Lynne with various specific projects around the property. The schedule left us with plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We also loved our movie nights together and the opportunity to discover delicious vegan meals. As Lynne is vegan, she introduced us to a whole new world that we had never really explored before. It was a wonderful experience that has genuinely inspired us and given us a lot to think about for the near future. We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a meaningful and rewarding stay. Thank you again, Lynne, for everything ❤️

Alessandro is an amazing person. Very kind, very attentive and dedicated. Due to the rain we couldn’t do as much as we needed but we also got to ride through the city with him and still enjoyed the time together. It is very precious to is that we have added one more friend to our big family. Thank you Alessandro. We will see you next time.

We had the pleasure of having Abby and Luiz staying with us for a short time They are such a pleasant and nice couple to be around. Very polite and always with a helping hand. We wish them the best of luck and give them our best recommendation.

It was so nice to have Zheng Yang with us! We had to call him by his last name - Koh though, as our mandarin is very limited ;) There are some people of the "new generation" (as us old people would call them ;) ) that absolutely amaze me! They have the world in their pockets (aka the internet) and actually know how to use this! Koh is SO knowledgeable and intelligent! We had the most inspiring talks about our world and he broadened my horizon on quite some topics! Kohs motivation is unmatched: He will give every task a 100%, putting in the effort, body&mind to fullfill things completely new to him! Be it physically challenging, most boring and repetitive or staying up until 2am to help me with technical desasters preparing for a market - he will overcome his own comfort zone, never once complain, challenge himself and complete everything - independently, thought through and keeping his perfectionism! Apart from that - it was a blessing having him around the house and family. He is respectful and adaptable, he loved the kids, as they loved playing with him. He met his first purring cat and I got some laughs for he mistook it for breathing issues - sorry - just too funny xD He was all here - with an open heart, becoming part of our family! You helped me loads with the farm and are always welcome here! Thank you! <3

Nina was very great ! Always a smile on her face , she always adapted well to the maintenance task , She is good at cooking italian meals .from the first day she get along whith my friends. I strongly recommend her for any project .

We stayed with Coral for about a week and had a lot of fun! She's a very welcoming and energetic woman and she truly cares about her hosts. We did so many things with Coral, from going to several open mics, to a cacao ceremony, to explore Thatra and surroundings, we were never bored! The hours of work we did was very flexible and she would always either work alongside us or give us clear directions on what needed to be done. We did dig up soil and moved it to a canoe to make a garden bed, moved piles of mulch and then mulched a part of her garden, and some general gardening like weeding and trimming. The work is doable but mind you her garden is very uphill so it can be challenging at times, however Coral always made sure we were doing okay. Food was a big highlight of our stay as she cooked us plenty of delicious vegetarian food (we're gonna miss your falafels and coconut chia pudding). Would recommend Coral to anyone :)
