My name is Cesar, and I’ve been surfing for over 20 years. I’m a passionate longboarder and surf coach, and for many years it has been my dream to create a Surf House in a world-class surf destination.

With the help of volunteers, that dream became a reality a few years ago in Huanchaco, a small fishing town in the north of Peru known for its waves, culture, and relaxed lifestyle. What we created is not a business in the traditional sense, but a family-style homestay, built slowly through shared effort, cultural exchange, and a love for the ocean.

There are no paid staff here. Everything is done together, including myself, and volunteers help as an extra hand to continue improving the house and the space around it. In return, I ask for a maximum of 8 hours per week, because I want helpers to have plenty of time to surf, explore, relax, and enjoy life in Huanchaco.

I’m looking for easygoing, positive people with a good vibe, who are happy to help, share experiences, and become part of a small surf community while living close to the sea.

This is a small, community-based town and project, which offers travellers the opportunity to experience local life in a very authentic way, while enjoying some of the best surfing in the world.

Volunteers can improve their surfing at a quiet surf break just a 10-minute walk from the house, and we also organize surf trips to Chicama, home to the longest left-hand wave in the world (at local cost).

There is a Spanish school next door for those who wish to take formal lessons, and plenty of opportunities to practice Spanish naturally by speaking with us and the local community.

We also enjoy salsa dancing, sharing music, and eating traditional Peruvian cuisine at local prices, giving volunteers a true cultural exchange beyond just the work.

    Hello everyone,

Are you travelling to South America or Peru? Do you love surfing, salsa, or both? Are you practical and hands-on?

Huanchaco beach is a small fishing town in Trujillo City with consistent waves all year round and located only one hour away from Chicama Beach “the longest lefthand wave in the world.”

The main reason I’m welcoming volunteers is to help me complete my Surf House dream. Four years ago, with the help of volunteers, we renovated a house that became a homestay for surfers. There are still some improvements to be made, and I’d love to continue this project with the support of new volunteers.

In exchange for free accommodation, I’m looking for help around the house. Tasks may include:
    - Small renovations and improvements
    - Painting
    - Improving the outdoor areas and garden around the house (and even the street)
    - Cooking simple homemade meals for the volunteers
    - Keeping shared areas clean and tidy

The maximum work requirement is 8 hours per week in exchange for accommodation.

In addition, we also have several small businesses where volunteers may help, depending on their interests. There may be other opportunities available. These options can be discussed once you arrive, so we can adapt the volunteering experience to what you enjoy most.

I look forward to welcoming motivated, positive people who want to enjoy surf, culture, and local life in Huanchaco.

The volunteers sleep in the family homestay, which is located in Las Lomas. This is a 15-minute walk to Huanchaco.

The volunteers sleep in shared rooms with a shared bathroom. Private rooms are available for couples on request.

Food is not included, however you can pay a small amount of S/60 soles per day (Breakfast - Lunch and Dinner) which is completely optional or you can self cater.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

In their free time, helpers can enjoy a wide range of activities and truly experience local Peruvian life.

Alongside daily surfing at a quiet beach just minutes from the house and salsa dancing, there are important archaeological sites nearby, including the ancient Chan Chan ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest adobe city in the world. The region is part of the famous Ruta Moche, rich in history and culture.

Huanchaco is a relaxed and friendly coastal town with cafés, small bars, local markets, and a social surf scene. Evenings can include salsa, shared meals, sunsets at the beach, or a night out in nearby Trujillo.

For nature and adventure lovers, Huanchaco is well located for travel. Trujillo Airport is only 10 minutes away, making arrival and onward travel easy. From here, helpers can visit Huaraz for trekking and mountain adventures in the Cordillera Blanca, or travel south to Lima by bus or short flight.
