We had a wonderful time with Liz and David. They have a lovely home in Benajarafe and kindly provided us with a separate apartment, which gave us comfort and privacy.
Our work schedule was from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., mainly helping with gardening, painting, and cleaning around the pool area. Every day, David explained the tasks for the day. The work was clear, manageable, and never too difficult.
During our free time and days off, we explored Andalusia. We had rented a car at the airport, which made traveling around the region very easy. After returning the car, we still had one more working day. On Sunday evening, despite the heavy Costa del Sol holiday traffic, Liz and David kindly came to pick us up from the airport again. We are very grateful for their help and generosity.
The turtle colonies were adorable, and we enjoyed greeting the dogs every morning. We also spent a lot of time talking to the lovebird throughout the day!
We spent peaceful and relaxing days here and truly enjoyed the experience. Thank you very much, Liz and David, for your hospitality and kindness. We wish you all the best for the future.

We stayed with Radosław and his sons for about two weeks. During our stay, we helped with house cleaning and occasionally cooked meals in exchange for accommodation and food.
Radosław kindly picked us up from Oslo in his car, and when it was time for us to leave, he drove us to the nearest train station. On the weekends, he took us ice skating and even provided us with skates.
He lives in a very beautiful place near a river. He also shared with us his personal story about how he came to God, and we appreciated his openness and willingness to share his experience.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely recommend Radosław as a host.

I had planned to stay for the month of June, but unfortunately I had to leave after a week due to health issues on my end. However, the week I had with Claudia and Tom and their animals was absolutely unforgettable, and it felt like being with family straight away. Thank you so much for the experience!

My stay here was a wonderful experience and a big challenge at the same time.
My tasks were diverse, mainly: Deep cleaning the guest huts and more private spaces and community spaces, collecting trash, some gardening tasks, feeding the animals, helping with grooming, the stable and riding as well as helping in a pottery workshop.
Wonderful: It's a magical place. So much love and hard work has been applied over the years, you can see and feel this heritage. Belal was very understanding and involved about organizing my Volunteering beforehand. You are quite remote from everything which is grounding and relaxing. I had the chance to join a great Rockclimbing Retreat for a discount which was a unique wonderful chance. Nour, Belal's sister, was my main contact at the farm and a very kind person to be with. Mohamed, the horse keeper, was a true gem and taught me much. I am an experienced rider and was able to ride often or do some little trainings with some horses. Another covolunteer became a close, beloved friend.
Challenge: The profile does not fully reflect the situtation, mainly in 2 ways. 1st It talks a lot about the vision not the exact situation, I feel. During my stay there were hardly any guests (noones fault) and at times I was almost alone in the farm. I expected it to be more social. 2nd I saw Belal 3 times on the farm in 3 weeks. He has 2 kids now, and was mainly in Dahab with family (which I support). Yet this was not communicated to me. I also did not get a proper introduction to the farm as eveyone left me in a rush. So the first week I felt not connected to the place. The food situtation was a bit unclear when there were no guests. The 4 dogs and 13 (?) cats were not neutered and not always given water. So there is uncontrolled growth of cats and dogs on and around the farm. Both things I find super critical. I also think the horses could get more specific training and movement. I know the animal treatment is a big cultural difference.
Without one amazing volunteer joining me in my 2nd week I would have left early. I stayed because of her and the horses.
The tasks were given based on gender and priority mainly, better speak up about preferences. You can easily do your own project if you have the motivation.
The place is very safe. Has a waterfilter. No wifi. Better be ok with darkness, lizards and animal poop.
I thought about leaving almost every day yet I stayed the whole 3 weeks and I left crying. Amazing and challenging. I recommend the volunteering here, but I recommend double checking on expectations and situation.

We originally planned to stay 3 weeks here but after seeing how lovely the place was, we extended and stayed for just over 5 weeks total. The work and vibe was super relaxed, as long as the guests were happy, everything got done and the pool was cleaned regularly, there was no issues. We learned about pool maintenance, and did some gardening, basic cleaning, greeting guests, a little DIY fixing things. The cleaning team - Estrella and Siomara were great and despite our bad Spanish always keen to translate when they or we needed help or something sorted out. We got to meet and spend some time with the owner - Denis, who is a really cool guy and always up for a chat.
Our first few weeks were managed by Nata, and she is a wonderfully organised, friendly, helpful and positive person. Nata's cats living on site (Sasha and Tango and the elusive third cat) are friendly and are a great welcome party each morning. The other occasional feline and canine visitors were always a welcome addition almost daily. Our last couple of weeks there were managed by Ovi, a kind and considerate calm guy (though busy!) who helped us out when we went to drake bay and back with a few extra days stay in return for some shifts at the welcome desk. He also was kind enough to invite us for a feast when he and his work friends hosted an argentinian BBQ! Delicious food and thanks to all who put in effort for that, Nehwen and the gang.
Uvita is gorgeous, from the beach to the coconut trees to the local market and shops, the massive mango trees next door, absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking of applying.
Big shout out to Max and Laura who arrived a couple of weeks before we left and were great company and eager to learn everything about the workings of the place. They arrived as strangers, we left as good friends and will stay in touch.

The experience was extremely interesting. The children were very friendly, as were many of the staff members. The goal was to communicate as much as possible with the childrens to teach them English: we had a lot of freedom, we could go from one tapchan (day camp) to another as we pleased, depending on our interest in the different activities. We were free to move around as we pleased, and the same was true in terms of our work, although we did have certain obligations.
Special mention to the meal, all-you-can-eat service, that's a nice touch.
All the activities offered are really enjoyable, thanks to the team leaders.
You still need to find your place, as you won't be officially introduced to the rest of the team or the children, so you won't be integrated from day one. Since the team leaders and administration are very busy, it's up to us to integrate, and you might feel a bit left out at first. It was therefore up to us to approach the teams and tell them we wanted to participate in their activities.
I already miss it, and I'd love to come back for another season. We had so much fun. Special mention to Abbos, who was fantastic, a really nice person who's great fun to be around, thank you!

I had an amazing peaceful time in the garden of hayet, delicious foods cooked by her or her husband, the amount of love to exchange with animals around is not something I can describe by words.
The blue house was such a comfortable place, the pure sound of nature was all you could hear, birds singing was my morning alarm and having my coffee while peacocks were dancing in front of me!
working in the garden with the accompany of cats was the cherry on top of the cake for me!
would love to visit this beautiful place and beautiful Hayet again 🤍

I stayed a fortnight at Bettina´s place in June 26. I had a nice, quiet room with a comfy bed, a table ... and a big bathroom where I could do my stuff in peace.
Bettina is a lovely, sociable woman with a big smile. She explained clearly and concisely what needed to be done in the big, wonderful garden or in the house. That made it easy for me to fill the six-hour working day in my own way and get all the jobs done. We took turns cooking. There was always delicious food with plenty of greens from the garden.
Pit the tomcat needed to be fed by me now and then and let me know when he wanted to be stroked and cuddled.
The area is very beautiful. There are plenty of walking trails starting right from the house. The small town of Hessisch Oldendorf has all the shops you could need. Hamelin has a wonderful old town. So it was easy for me to explore the area on my days off
Thanks Bettina for the good time
See you again.

Everybody is an artist but Migle is more than an artist :) Migle is a determined, focus oriented and with a great artistic soul lady. She also loves animal and during the time she spent at the farm, noy only took care of my animals but also rescued some puppies were abandoned in the property. She is precise in doing all the tasks required, really curious, asking lots of questions, sometimes too many :)) The beauty of workaway for me is the proper cultural exchange that lets you grow but also it gives the possibility to make personal and hidden skills to express themselves and I found Migle has an incredible sense of the art and during that time she produced different pieces of art for which I am grateful and I appreciate them. Thank you!! Hosting Migle is to host a talented artist that will surprise you!

Lea stayed with us for just over a week, but we could already see a clear difference in our garden after her stay! She helped with weeding, preparing garden beds, planting, watering, and more. After finishing each task, Lea always left the workspace neat and tidy. She also came up with her own ideas for improvements, which we really appreciated. As a wonderful keepsake, she left us a beautiful hand-drawn illustration of our little tractor.
On top of that, Lea cooked some delicious vegetarian meals, and we enjoyed great conversations over dinner. Communication with her was always easy.
We can absolutely recommend Lea to any future host.
Thank you so much, Lea!

This was my very first Workaway experience and honestly, I don’t think I could have asked for a better introduction to this beautiful community.
From the moment I arrived, Ray and Ute made me feel like family. Their home is not just a place to stay, it is a place filled with warmth, kindness, laughter, wisdom, and a deep sense of peace. I arrived as a volunteer and left feeling like I had found another home.
The work was varied and enjoyable. I helped with gardening, transplanting plants, deadheading flowers, weeding, kitchen work, preparing an Indian dinner for the family, and many outdoor projects with Ray like logging, splitting wood, fencing, and cutting blueberry bushes. They always worked alongside me and patiently taught me new things. It never felt like work being assigned. It felt like teamwork.
One of the most special parts of my stay was learning crochet from Uta. She wasn’t just teaching me a craft, she was curious about my life as an artist and kept asking how I could incorporate crochet into my art practice. That thoughtfulness meant so much to me. She is gentle, creative, incredibly patient, and has a wonderful sense of humour and a heart of gold. We shared many laughs together, whether while working in the garden, solving puzzles, or simply talking about life.
And Ray… where do I begin? He is full of joy, stories, songs, gratitude, and apparently endless baking talent! There was always music, humour, and kindness around him. We had many late-night conversations about life and shared so many laughs. I was spoiled with homemade cakes, pastries, and baked treats throughout my stay. He even taught me how to bake my very first plum cake, and before I left, they lovingly packed one of the cakes I had baked for my journey back. It was such a sweet gesture and one of those memories I know I will cherish forever.
Their generosity extended far beyond the house. They introduced me to their children and grandchildren, included me in family gatherings, took me to local events, hikes, and outings, and gave me a genuine glimpse into life in Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley. I played board games and puzzles, met their friends, explored beautiful places, and experienced so many things for the first time.
What touched me the most was the atmosphere they have created. Their home feels calm, safe, and healing. Every day began with gratitude and ended with gratitude. There was a beautiful simplicity to life there, shared meals, meaningful conversations, working with the land, laughter, and a genuine appreciation for life’s small moments.
I also learned so much wisdom from both of them. Their kindness, openness, and way of looking at life have stayed with me long after leaving. They showed me that growing older can mean growing softer, wiser, more joyful, and more generous.
If you are looking for hosts who are kind, thoughtful, wise, playful, and genuinely care about the people who come into their lives, I cannot recommend Ray and Ute enough.
Thank you both for opening your hearts and your home to me. I will always remember my month with you with immense gratitude and affection.
With love,
Sheena

We had a truly memorable time with Geraldine in her little mountain paradise. She has a big heart, a great sense of humour, and has a thirst for life. Geraldine is very social and we had a lot of fun with her, another workawayer and all of Geraldine's friends. Not forgetting her fur and feather babies. It was a pleasure to take the Luna and Guinness for their daily walks and chat with Paco - the gin drinking parrot. Guinness is a super cuddly dog and he kept me company while I was working on my computer. We fell in love with the area, if you're active and outdoorsy you'll have a great time. There are so many beautiful hikes, you can cycle, swim in the lake and there's a Via ferrata that is in walking distance of Geraldine's chalet. We already miss our aperos, chatting away and watching the incredible views of Mont Blanc from her place. For the work, Geraldine is laid back, and you'll need to use your initiative to help her out and contribute. We supported with walking the dogs, cleaning, cooking, putting up a fence in the garden, potting plants and tidying up the spaces and Kevin assisted with some translating. I feel like I learnt so many life lessons from our time with her and she has so many interesting stories to tell. Big hugs Ger bear, to you and to Declan and hope to see you again!!

Nuevamente Gracias y nuestros mejores deseos.

Dear Martine and Jean, we want to express our most sincere gratitude for the days you allowed us to share in your lives.
For us, it was a challenge we found hard to take on... and it turned out to be a truly wonderful experience.
We met two beautiful people, whose kindness and respect were immediately apparent. We were able to talk about our customs, our plans, our hopes... and share a brief but interesting cultural exchange.
And most importantly, we feel this is the beginning of a new friendship. We hope life will soon give us the opportunity for another meeting.
Thank you again, and our best wishes.
