Hello, my name is Juliana (Brazilian, 37yo) and I live here on our small farm in the Mantiqueira region with my husband Jacques (South African, 42yo) and our baby Benjamin. I work mostly online and Jacques manages the farm's animals and organic food production.
Our goal is to grow most of our food in our land as well as making a business from the chickens and eggs we sell, the pigs and charcutarie production, which we've started recently and in the future producing essential oils, jams and other products from we can grow (which we are starting to plant now).
Most of the work we need help with at moment is building / maintanance as we are are always improving the infrastructure with things such as barns, chicken coups, fences, etc. The work is from 7am until 12pm and volunteers have the free afternoon to spend as they wish.

Learn with us about food production in an organic system working with us in the land, learn how to care for the pigs and chickens. Plus there's the general maintanance of a farm so there's plenty opportunity to learn about it. Everyday something new may come up for you to learn and also teach us! We will be together everyday, exchanging knowledge, life stories and meals.
Ayuda
We are seeking assistance with various tasks:
1. Planting and managing food garden
2. Caring for animals, including chickens and pigs
3. Cleaning and taking care of the volunteer house
4. Carpentry and construction.
5. Occasionally Dog sitting and house sitting when we need to leave the farm.
We prefer individuals with experience and enthusiasm in at least 1-2 of the tasks listed above.
It's important for us that volunteers are comfortable speaking English because, who runs most of the farm work is still learning Portuguese but it's fluent in English and we had some experiences with non-English speakers where the language barrier made life more difficult.Idiomas hablados

We have 2 houses to host volunteers:
1) The pink house: a comfortable 2 bedroom + 1 bathroom house, with a nice view. We have a permanent resident in one of the bedrooms and the other one is available for volunteers, who have access to a fully equipped kitchen and all amenities for comfortable living. Common spaces are shared (kitchen, lounge, bathroom)
2) The white flat: it's a recently renovated space with a kitchen, bedroom, outdoor lounge, private bathroom and outdoor shower (private and heated, in a cool area, surounded by nature). It holds 2 people and it's not shared with others.
The food provided comes from our organic gardens (depending on what's growing at the moment), eggs from the chickens and from grocery staples provided by us, such as rice, beans, coffee, sugar, pasta, flour, tea, oil, spices, etc. If you require anything else, we can provide rides to the market.
It's expected that you keep the house clean and take good care of it. From past experience with messy volunteers, we now require a weekly deep clean around the house, not just sweeping and doing dishes, to keep a good environment and energy but also to protect you from bugs, animals coming into the house.
Jacques and I live in a separate house in the same land, so we are close to help with anything and to share meals, conversations and experiences.Algo más...
The farm is in a quiet rural area, so don't expect much touristic activities at a walking distance.
There is a nice waterfall a 30-minute hike from the farm. We also have hammocks and bonfires at the house, and you can swim in the lake and use the barbecue.
On weekends, if you want to travel, there's a bus station in town (which is about 20min away by car. If we can't give you a ride there, an uber wil cost you R$50 / US$8).
We often visit the nearest market in town and also go to São Paulo quite often, and we can give you a ride.
We expect you to clean up after yourself and prepare your own meals.
The food we provide is from the organic garden when available, and dry goods such as coffee, rice, pasta, beans, oats, flour, salt, sugar, spices, etc. Other foods like meats, eggs, fruits, snacks, etc, are your responsibility.Un poco más de información

They were always interested in learning and helping, even when they dind't have experience. We also had to stay away from the farm for a couple of days and they were super helpful housesitting and petsitting while we were gone.
They were carefull with the house and maintaned everything really well.

Sharing the house with him was easy, he is very mindful of his space and very chill.
We recommend him as a Workaway, we all had a good time hosting him.
The farm offered a variety of tasks and also a tranquil setting to relax in.
Veronica was a lovely housemate for the 3 week stay and she cooked excellent food!
