We are a family of 3 living in beautiful Brentwood Bay BC. We love living here because it is semi-rural, surrounded by farms, access to some of the best hiking spots, and has a very small town feel. Karen works from home, Derek is a RN, and we have a 11 year old son (who is conversational in French) We commonly have high school exchange students during the school months. We live on 1/3 of an acre, have 1 dog, 3 chickens and fish.

We tend to eat healthy, home cooked meals. We enjoy casual glasses of wine with friends and enjoy being social. We love our community and all it offers including farmers markets, live music and great local food.

We love having travelers and meeting new people. We are a busy family, but the place we live is an outdoor lovers dream. Derek has had many career paths including Masonary, finishing electrical, construction and hospitality. He is the cook in the house, and enjoys learning new dishes and teaching skills he has learned growing up in a French Canadian family.

Karen was a professional photographer for 14 years. She specialized in portrait and wedding work, and now has moved into photography projects for small businesses, along with web design. Over covid times, she was trained to be a skin therapist and now works out of the home providing facials and other skin health services.

Always happy to teach new skills to those eager to learn, as we are as well.

Housesitting in July with pet care, yard & garden work.

This 10 day position requires a motivated and reliable person (s) to take care of our dog, chickens, fish as well as keep on top of our yard and garden beds. Yard work is fairly easy, weeding, watering, raking. We may ask as well for some additional help with moving dirt and rock.

We are located in a beautiful quiet area with many hiking spots, water sports (we are two blocks from the bay) 5 mins to the village. We have bikes available for use, and close to ferry travel and other great little spots to explore. Brentwood Bay is located 30 mins by bus to Victoria downtown. This area is best known for Butchard Gardens which is a 20min walk from our house.
