Are you looking for a unique experience in a magical environment? We offer out-door enthusiasts a unique place to stay based on a simple way of living, in close interaction with nature and with the possibility to disconnect from technology distractions and a high tempo city lifestyle.

The farm consists of 4 acres of land, the main house, a hostel & camping site, a barn, a stable and a workshop. Here we are turning a former conventional agricultural property into a flourishing and nourishing organic garden providing our guests and ourselves with nutrition for the body as well as the mind. We are inspired by permaculture and we strive towards becoming more or less self-sufficient one small step at the time.

Living at the farm does Lina, a graphical engineer whom enjoys horseback riding and training our dog Oskar. And Dennie, a clinical psychologist who's great passion in life is surfing the rough waves around Bornholm. The farm also consists of our 6-year-old daughter Vide, our dog Oskar, our cat Maja, our three horses Tinka, Lizzie and Prop and our chickens who’s names we’ll spare you for the moment being.

The help we seek varies throughout the season. Below you can find a clasp description of the different tasks you might come across when staying at our farm. We have also written a few words about the time schedule we usually follow. But first some general requirements.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

#1. Basic carpentry skills is absolutely necessary – you need to know your way around basic carpentry tools and how to use them.

#2. Know how to work independently – you need to be able to use your own good judgement and to perform the tasks handed to you as well as coming up with suggestions how to solve obstacles that might occur underway.

#3. Not be afraid of manual farm work - farm work it's typically smudgy, can sometimes be quite heavy and are for most parts executed outdoors in all kinds of weather. You need to be prepared to work hard during the circumstances described.

    TASKS

    Maintenance
The land and all the buildings need continuous care, repair and improvements. A genuine interest in the ongoing process of running a farm is highly appreciated.

    Construction & building
We are always working on different projects to develop and improve the structures on the farm. Construction and carpenter skills are therefore a welcomed reinforcement.

    Organic Gardening
A large area around the farm is slowly being formed into a garden using the ideas behind permaculture as a base. Knowledge and experience from similar work is more than welcomed. Overall maintenance keeping grass and hedges under control is a big part of the work.

    Animal Care
Our dog, cat, chickens and horses are very familiar with us and we prioritize spending time and socializing with them. Two of our horses are Shetland ponies that can be taken out for walks and trained with horsemanship training. The third horse is a large riding horse whom is available for riding by those who are experienced. Cleaning, caring, socializing and training our animals is part of the work at the farm.

    Household chores
Helping out with household chores is a must. These tasks involve; cleaning (incl. baths and toilets), changing bed linnens, doing laundry, etc.

    TIME SCHEDULE

In return for food and accommodation we ask for help around the farm for approx. 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. Some days we ask that you are flexible on the time schedule. If we need to finish a task asap or if we have an event that requires extra help. If so, we always make sure to compensate for the extra hours keeping the total amount of hours to approx. 25 hours per week.

Helping hours during low season are usually the same for both helpers; approx. 09.00 - 15.00 with a lunch break between 12.00 – 13.00. During high season however, we sometimes work in shifts where one shift could be from 09.00 - 14.00 and the other from 14.00 - 19.00. Free days are usually 2 days between Monday - Friday. It is important that people traveling together are aware that they most likely will be working different shifts and not having free on the same days.

  • Alojamiento

    Alojamiento

The setup during a stay at our farm is different from most others since you do not stay with the family in the main house, interacting and socialising on a daily base. Instead, you will be living at our small and cozy hostel being as social or private as you wish.

The hostel contains 14 beds divided in 2 dorms. There is also a large social room with a kitchen area and a bathroom. All areas of the hostel are shared.

The beds are made with a bedspread and a pillow but you will need to bring your own sleeping-bag/duvet (if you don't have one, we can probably lend you one). The dorms are unlocked but if you bring a small padlock you will be able to store your valuables in a safe box next to your bed.

The lifestyle on the farm and at the hostel is based on a simple way of living with the possibility to disconnect from a “normal” up-tempo city lifestyle. This influences the interior of the hostel in all aspects. For example the bathtub is a zinc bathtub to which you bring heated water in a bucket to wash yourself and the toilet is a compost toilet where the waste is composed and reused as fertilizer for our plants and trees.

During high-season (June, July, Aug) the hostel is well-booked and there can be many guests sharing the space at the hostel. During low-season (April, May, Sept) there are less guests and in periods you, and possible other workers, will have the place to yourselves.

    Algo más...

    Location
The farm is located on the countryside on the Northern coast of Bornholm. The nature surrounding the farm is magical with its meadows, forests, creeks and waterfalls. It’s only a 7-minute walk down to the sea and there are amazing hiking tracks in both directions along the ocean. It takes about 15 minutes on bike to reach the nearest village, Gudhjem, by many considered the most beautiful village on the island. Most of the time is very still and quite at and around the farm. After sunset it gets very dark around the farm since there are no street lights in the area. We write this so that you can decide for yourself if the feeling of isolation is welcomed or unwanted.

    Transportation
You have access to a bike at the farm and busses are easily accessed from the main roads (about a 15-minute walk from the farm). However, they do not pass by very frequently. Our private car is not for loan but we are happy to drive you when time and direction synchronize.

    Food
We supply you with ingredients to a vegan or vegetarian diet of your choice. We do not supply any meat products (incl. fish and chicken) or any stimulants (sweets, coffee, alcohol, etc.). We benefit our local farmers as much as possible and complement with food from the supermarket. You cook, prepare and eat your food in the common area of the hostel.

    Free time
There are many ways to enjoy the wonderful and diversified nature that Bornholm has to offer. For instance there are excellent possibilities for fishing, hiking, biking, climbing, horseback riding and much more. And if you ever get tired of nature, there are small, picturesque villages to visit all around the island as well as museums, pottery and glass exhibitions and much more.

    Internet access
As part of the concept there is no Wi-Fi at the hostel. It is however possible to make an appointment to use the Wi-Fi (and/or computer, scanner, printer) in the main house.

    Last but not least …
    • The farm and the land around it is a complete non-smoking area.
    • The farm is not a place for drinking/doing drugs and/or partying.
