  • Description

    Kia ora and hello!
I am wrapping up my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Criminology this October (2025), and am excited to spend some time abroad somewhere new! I'm motivated by connection and new experiences - I'm ready to get stuck in, experience a new lifestyle and meet new people. Spending time outdoors, discovering new music, books and shows, and connecting family and friends brings me a lot of joy and fills up my life quite nicely. I am an oldest sister and cousin, and an experienced babysitter so I have a lot of experience with children and I find it super rewarding. Right now, I work part time in the kitchen at a small care home for the elderly and I value the relationships I build with the residents immensely. I also work on a passenger ferry that goes between the North and South islands, getting to meet all kinds of people - its great! I can't wait to get started.

  • More details about your skills

With respect to my time working in a care home, I have experience in communicating and building relationships with the residents - really becoming a friend rather than an employee. It has taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of making every day count for something.

Whilst working on the ferry, communication, responsibility, and being proactive was absolute key to safe (and fun) travel. My role was in hospitality, which taught me how to be intuitive, and perceive potential problems before they occurred, while also building meaningful connections with customers and co-workers.

A few years ago after a rush of aesthetic dissatisfaction, I repainted and redecorated my room. In helping my Gran move out of her house, I spent a couple days deep cleaning it. I'm a fast learner, and will get stuck into any kind of hands on task once shown the ropes.

Through babysitting and older-sistering, I have tidied and cleaned more rooms than I can count, and comforted, entertained and cared for children an equal amount.
I have walked dogs as a job in the past, and have a bonkers dog myself who needs a lot of attention and responsiveness. I've grown up with at least 2 pets at any given time, so I have a lot of experience with animals.

Lastly, my degree in Psychology and Criminology has given me an educated, open minded outlook on the world and the way it and people within it function. And amidst all the essays and research, I always have a random fact about the human mind on the ready.

  • What else ...

Aside from the aforementioned, I enjoy walking and tramping/hiking a lot. It's a great way to slow down and reconnect with nature. I also have a tendency to do a little casual photography and videography - and I love to explore new shops and towns, eat good food and go mountain biking.
