Hi hi! My name is Zella, I am 25 years old and am currently working working online and seeking longer term farm work opportunities to be immersed in and learn from. I work remotely three days a week as a researcher in sustainable textiles, and travelled for just under two years before returning home to the States. I learned Spanish to an intermediate/conversational level.

I have always wanted to learn more about large animal care and the skills of self-sufficient living. I am hoping to find a workaway that can teach me about livestock and all the work it takes to prepare and store your own meat. I would love to learn to tan hides and butcher if possible, and think it is a skill that is largely overlooked in more modern homesteading trends.

I have had some experience with gardening and growing my own food on a small scale, along with years of camping and outdoors experience. My best friend purchased a plot of land in Maine that we are developing into an off grid cabin, and one day homestead.

What I lack in farm experience I make up with enthusiasm. I was a rugby player for 4 years and if you show me something once, I can do it twice. I am eager to learn at every chance, and am easy going and very low maintenance. I love a good chat and learning about my

I've always been active and love working outside. I've worked on a large garden plot for my university's farmers market. I did some gardening work on a study abroad in Malaysia, and also worked on a workaway in Costa Rica this past year. I'm really interested in learning about growing my own food and living sustainably. I hope to gain skills while traveling to bring home and begin my own homestead.
I really love animals and would love to work with any thing big or small. I love goats and cows and think they are some of the most incredible creatures.

I'm looking to work outside, but am also interested in utilizing my skills from my years in professional writing and marketing. I can help in any of those areas as well.

What else ...

I really love grunt work. Pulling weeds and digging holes, shoveling in general. I've always worked indoors and now I enjoy being physical. Its really enriching to be able to engage your body while learning new skills.
