Hi, Lucy from Czechia here!

I'm a keen traveller, who fancies getting to know new cultures, places and people! I'm curious about life in general and it's time for me to find out what I'd like to do in the future... I'd like to devote more time to developing my interests and desires and learn something new. My aim is also to learn from lives of the locals...

That's why I'm now on a lookout for a new adventure and thought workaway could be worth trying :)
I'm looking for a volunteering experience, preferably in Spain, where I could stay at least a month in exchange for work.

For the past four years I've been travelling throughout Europe 🌍 experiencing new environment, life-style and mentality, and doing various jobs such as: helping with kids and household, volunteering on a farm, taking care about gardens, doing house and pet sitting or supporting elderly people in their life...

I would describe myself as a friendly, trustworthy and caring person with passion for dancing, music, travels, hand crafting, animals, long walks...
I always enjoy sharing life stories, deeper conversations, discussions on various life topics and am also a good listener ;)
Being keen on hand writing, I take my notebook on every journey that I set off...
Pottery making, basket veawing or creating macrame decorations are some of the other activities that interest me a lot, as I enjoy hand work. But there would probably be much more :D
I'm into natural medicine, psychology and practical philosophy.
I'm used to being surrounded by animals, as in my family have always been kept some. Having a close relation to nature, I like making natural decorations for home and garden, and that's also the reason why I studied landscape design.
The relation between people and their environment has always been the phenomenon that interested me pretty much... I like creating nice atmosphere and cosiness in the environment that surrounds us, including interiors. That's why I'm also into home transformations, design and decorations .

I guess I would be "on familiar ground" among people dealing with creative workshops, dance and art therapy related activities or making interior/exterior transformations, creating "homey" atmosphere. So if there was a possibility, I would be more than happy to learn more about these...
I would also enjoy helping an individual (e.g. in house and pet sitting, elderly support etc.) and having conversations together ...

I spent at Dean's place roughly a month and it was such an amazing and unforgettable experience for me, sharing many humorous moments with Dean! From the first moment there I felt warmly welcome...

Dean is a special person. He's a kind, tidy, generous and warm-hearted gentleman, who has a lot to share and who's such a fun to be with! He told me… read more about his adventurous life and we had so much fun together... We laughed a lot, which was - as I learnt from Dean - the best medicine for everything! Dean is a rebel in his soul, but at the same time he has a deep respect for others. He was always up for a chat, but with respect for my "solitude time".

Dean taught me some English slang expressions, which I found very useful and funny. He even started to teach me some Spanish, and I also learnt a lot about Spain and Spanish mentality from him. Even though Dean is not Spanish, I had a real Spanish immersion here!

As for the place is concerned, it's very well located in the town of Vera, within a walking distance to the town centre, and not far from the beach in Vera playa (there's a good bus connection with buses taking you to the beach in less than half an hour).

The work part was pretty easy; I helped Dean to clean his apartments (which was only once or twice a week) and I cooked a meal for him every day, which wasn't difficult at all either, as Dean gave me the freedom to cook whatever I wanted and he enjoyd trying new dishes from my country. So I had plenty of time for myself, for my morning walk into the town and park and enough time to explore the local area. I came to Dean to experience real Spain, and he wanted me to enjoy my stay as much as possible and make it feel like a holiday, which was just how it felt!

I was also impressed by Dean's positivity, that he was sparkling with all the time. Despite his difficult periods in life he didn't give up, didn't lose his curiosity to discover more in life and is still keen on new adventures...

I'm grateful to Dean for this wonderful experience, which changed my outlook on certain things in life... He made my dreamt-of Spanish experience possible. I also thank Andy for being my support from the very beginning. If there's a possibility, I'd love to come back and see Dean and his friends again!

So, I can just say: If you want to enjoy real Spain, learn how to feel more "Spanish", have a relaxed workload, get a new perspective of life, practise your English and last but not least have a lot of fun, then Dean's place is definitely the right place!
