Description

A day deemed successful and fruitful in my eyes is one during which I experience something that I had never experienced before, learn something new, have some dirt on my hands, a thick layer of sweat on my skin, and did all of this with awesome people surrounding me.

I chose to become a part of the work-trade life because I want to do things that I've never done before and understand people and life practices from various corners of the world. I am a very flexible and laid back individual who is also determined, hard-working, and always up for a challenge. I want to use my gifts to help support others and am a firm believer that no matter where our journey might take us, it is the ways in which we grew along the way that are the most important.

I enjoy spending time outdoors whether that is hiking, camping, or just hanging out. I love playing sports (basketball, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee primarily but will try and most likely enjoy absolutely anything). Learning to cook and bake new foods is lots of fun and something I've been trying to do more of as of late.

More details about my language interests
I am a fluent English speaker and would be more than happy sharing my language with others who are interested in learning it. I studied French at the university level and would like to solidify my French skills throughout my travels. If put into a situation where French was the only language understood, I'd feel comfortable trying to navigate that situation but have more to learn. I want to learn Spanish. I have taken some classes and with my French background was able to pick it up fairly quickly, but would love to learn more. I enjoy language learning and would make it a point to learn the local language of wherever my Workaway journey takes me.

My latest paid work was in theatrical carpentry, therefore, I have a fairly good sense of basic and advanced woodworking tools, as well as the basics of welding. I enjoy building and would love to learn more about sustainable building methods.

I also grew up for the first part of my childhood on a farm and through family have a basic to intermediate sense of good gardening practices and what it takes to maintain a well functioning farm.

I've worked with students ranging from 4 years old to university peers. I've worked with them in a variety of capacities including teaching, tutoring, and camp counseling and enjoy doing so.
