  • Description

    Dear Future Hosts,

My name is Adele Tufford. I am a (still young-ish :)) Canadian woman, who has been living in the Netherlands since 2018. I am taking a break from my recent work as a scientist at Wageningen University, and find much more value and satisfaction being in nature, with animals, and growing food in a 'real' rather than academic way! I am more and more disillusioned with tourism these days, and especially during this global pandemic, so I am hoping to stay local, experience the Netherlands deeper, and work in nature for the month of September (I will even try my best to reach you on my bike!). Ik spreek ook redelijk Nederlands, en zou echt willen en meer 'ondergedompeled' taal ervaring ... echt! I am hoping you would have availability for me to work with you this September. Here is a little bit about me and why I am interested in farm workaway:

I have a deep love for animals and all living things. I love to feel their Psychic Power and treat them with the love they give back in return - it is certainly like a form of therapy for me.

I have been a vegetarian almost my whole life. I prefer to eat vegan but will take dairy and eggs if they are local or bio. I am strong and athletic and full of enthusiasm, I am generally happy to do almost any job you put me to, both domestic, farming, repair, 'tech', or animal related :). I previously worked as a workawayer in 2018 on two animal rescue/nursery and farms in Greece, and on an orchard in France. I also currently work at an off-grid cafe and permaculture and urban farm in Amsterdam, where I have been a volunteer for over 2 years. There, I have gained a lot of practical experience with off-grid systems (solar, rainwater filtering, aquaculture and aquaponics), and practical small-scale farming techniques. I am decent at fixing bikes and general repairs.

I am a calm, easy-going, active hard worker. I very much value my own independence and down-time, but I also am a social person who loves the company of others over a meal. I am a pretty good vegetarian cook.

Looking forwards to hearing from you, and wish you health and happiness,

    Adele
