Description
Hey there!
We're Peace and Tom and we've been together for two and half years. We met while watching the rugby world cup in 2023 at the Slow Leopard in Dar Es Salaam. Since then, We have spent most of our time living together in Tanzania — I (Tom) have occasionally returned to the UK when it can't be avoided and for as brief a time as possible. We started travelling a few months ago now and spent a while exploring Arusha and Moshi before coming to stay in Nairobi. Now, we move on to the Kenyan Coast!
We're also recently started our own travel channel and blog (@Eastafricatravelpop on insta and TikTok). Here, we'll share stories from our trip and ideally we'd love to find sustainable travel experiences to write about on our site. We'd also love to include interviews with business owners in the travel industry to share their insights on our blog. As well as our own content, we'd be very excited to help with content creation for your website and social media. We're learning a lot of it as we go but we'll share everything we know and would be very grateful for any tips and tricks of your own.
Tom:
Hi, I'm a digital marketer of about 4 years specialising in Search Engine Optimisation with a lot of experience in African Travel specifically within the sustainable travel and nonprofit space. I've worked with globally recognised brands (like African Impact Go Abroad, Roots Interns, and Raleigh International), and have experience building WordPress websites, writing keyword-researched blogs, and scheduling newsletters on Mailchimp.
Also, I'm a lifelong traveller whose volunteered in a lot of places too. I've helped with eco-lodges, hostels, marine research centres, refugee camps, farms, daycares, building projects and more. I can be plenty of use with any manual-labour-sort-of-work and I'm a pretty mean cook too.
Peace:
Heyyy, I'm Peace! It's nice to meet you!! I'm Tanzanian born and raised. I grew up in Bukoba and have lived in Dar Es Salaam since I went to university there. I studied education and trained in teaching english and kiswahili as a foreign language. I have worked a lot in schools, I'm great with children and can know how to manage a classroom. I've worked a lot outside of schools too though. I've also cared for the elderly, worked at a hair salon, and ran my own business for a while too!
When not working, my loves are food, TikTok, and Instagram - in that order. I now have a couple workaway experiences under my belt and I’m excited to do more! I'm great at looking after people whether they are old or young. And another thing to know about me is that wherever I am, I will keep the place clean!
