Hi folks!

My name is Tom, and I am planning my first solo-travel experience in 2024. I am from the Netherlands myself, and I would love to discover and experience the rest of Europe, with a focus primarily on Southern Europe and later Scandinavia.

I want to go traveling because I want to explore myself, explore the world, get a deeper connection with nature, and because I would love to learn new skills of various kinds. I’d also really love to get to know new people and learn from them, their cultures, their habits, and their way of life.

I would describe myself as a hard-working, initiative-taking, spontaneous, fast-learning, socially capable individual. I am considerate, empathetic, and eager to get to know others in a profound way.

I love good conversations, humor, making and listening to music, film, and basically everything that includes a whole lot of creativity. Also, I absolutely love being physically active. I like exploring nature while running/trail running/hiking and I like strength training as well.

Whilst I like being in the company of others, I also really appreciate my solitude. I very much enjoy being in silence, taking in my surroundings and getting lost in thought.

I am very reliable when it comes to (heavy) physical labor.

Furthermore, I love cooking. I am not an exceptional cook (yet!!!!) but I’d like to think I am able to put something nice on the table for everyone to enjoy. I’d love to learn more about local foods, dishes, and traditions.

My work experiences vary from the hospitality industry (catering, lunchroom waiter, kitchen work, reception work) to working outside (preparing campings for the summer, working on festivals as a site-crew member) to driving a forklift all day. I also have some experience in painting fences, houses etcetera.

I am also a (electronic)music composer/producer, and I play the guitar. I might be able to teach a thing or two about those things if interested. I would love to learn about and add value to art projects as well.

Skill-wise I would love to learn more about farm work, gardening, woodwork, carpentry and sustainable living. I already have experience in some of those but I would like to level up those skills.

What else ...

As previously stated I do create music. I’d love to compose music in nature. I like to do so on paper and in my head, but if possible I’d also like to record all sorts of sounds from all these beautiful places I am staying so I can use those in my music. And of course I would love to create together!

As for the sport-fanatic in me, I like to workout/hike/run together! Nothing better than a shared dopamine rush in the healthiest possible way. I am down for other sports as well, and I am definitely interested in learning more about yoga and meditation.

I am also very fond of boardgames. From short games to stuff that takes the whole afternoon, you can count me in.

And last but not least, I prefer to live a healthy life. I like to eat healthy, nutritional food that keeps the body going and the mind sharp.
