Description
G'day from Tom and Amelia! We have been travelling and working in Canada since November 2024 and have loved exploring this beautiful country with its vast flora and fauna, and meeting the friendliest people on the planet. Tom has grown on a farm ever since he was little, worked in rural Australia for 2+ years, and is very handy as he is a qualified electrician. Amelia has been working in the outdoors as a traffic controller in the countryside before coming to Canada, has 10+ years in customer service experience, and loves the performing arts. We have been working as lift operators during our time in Canada and have loved every minute of it!
Tom's passions include a love for travel, he's an avid dirtbike rider, and strives for experiencing new adventures. Amelia's passions include making new connections, learning new skills (especially in the outdoors), crocheting, and learning German. We both love animals and meeting new open minded people so we believe that this workaway program aligns with our passions and our motivations to experience Canada at it's fullest.

I've been learning German on Duolingo for nearly 275 days in a row and have a very basic foundation but would love to learn more and test out some German conversations (even if it's entry level!)

Tom's skills include:
- working with hand tools and power tools (he is a qualified electrician)
- work with animals as he grew up on a sheep farm and worked in central Australia on a cattle station
- experience driving 4wD, motorbikes and four wheelers
- fencing and basic carpentry
- experience in hiking, camping, outdoors
- cooking
Amelia's skills include:
- baking and basic cooking
- working with hand tools e.g. shovels, picks, rakes, etc.

What else ...
We love board game nights, deep and philsophical conversations, learning new perspectives, and hearing life stories. As you can tell, we're pretty social! We both love reading / listening to audiobooks. We both want to learn more about Canada's ecosystem and its beautiful animals. Amelia is dying to see the northern lights, and Tom would love to see some bears. Amelia is also attempting to learn guitar and would love some help!
