My next destination:
Indonesia - from Aug 2025 until Dec 2025 View allDescription
Hi! I am a 30yo from New Zealand who loves adventure, meeting people, new experiences, and am ultimately driven by making the world a better place - vocationally in an environmental context.
I have a degree and several years experience as a mechanical design engineer working on a variety of projects around the world. However I also love to explore the world in my own time and have spent half a year chasing the monsoon in kayaks in India, a couple months kayaking on the White Nile in Uganda, several ski seasons in both Canada and Europe, and spent half a year surfing my way down the Pacific Coast from Mexico to Peru.
My intention with these arrangements is to meet interesting people, and contribute where I can to tangible outcomes that make a difference for people and our planet. I am in the process of redirecting my career towards environmental conservation and am particularly interested in the marine environment. I would love to gain hands-on experience in this space as. I am also interested in small scale energy projects and land conservation that directly impact small communities.
Aside from a professional background, I grew up in NZ where DIY and hard work is part of the culture. I am familiar with most tools and can figure out novel solutions with the resources on hand.Interests

More details about your skills
Being from New Zealand, DIY runs in our blood and getting our hands dirty and backs sweaty is part of growing up. I'm no stranger to a skill saw, drill, or hammer, though also not a professional - she'll be right! I have a general comfort with exploring nature, can have a chat with pretty much anyone (assuming we speak the same language), and possibly some academic skills from my engineering and consulting days.
