Hey, I'm Ruaridh
I'm a Scottish forestry student/artist looking to travel and meet new people :)
I grew up in the Scottish highlands, so love being in the outdoors. I really love walking, running, cycling, and being more in touch with nature.
I have visited around 10 workaways so far around Europe and have some basic knowledge of horticulture, woodworking, building and working on permaculture farms. I also have some experience using a chainsaw and felling trees if this is useful to you at all.
I am quite a diligent person and like working hard just as much as relaxing, but my main reason for being here is to learn new skills, gain experience and expertise from other people while travelling!
Don't hesitate to contact me if i might be of use on your project :)Interests

I spent a lovely two weeks on Syros with Jackie, the cats and other volunteers. The work was very easy and quite laid back compared to most workaways I've been on, consisting of feeding (and cuddling) the moggies, and cleaning out their litter trays each day, and also a little painting and… read more

much of the work was outside, on a large vegetable garden or making mosaics on the fountain. this was a pretty nice way to spend my days for a few weeks.
I would recommend here only if you have a clear idea of what your personal boundaries are. If you are staying in the dormitory, your… read more

He made a great team with the rest of the volunteers, took his work with responsibility and autonomy and also brought a wonderful environment for all of us. The location is quite indescribable, like being dropped into the set of Andrei Tarkovsky's 'Stalker'. Rusting towers of metal, concrete, brittle animal bone combined with a white cube gallery space, and this surrounded by beautiful forests and sky. A very textural experience; this… read more
