Description
Tanya: I love volunteering with different communities because it allows me to learn from new peoples of new cultures and I can learn new skills. I love to cook for people and have worked with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity in the past. I was born in Lebanon and lived there for about half of my life. During this time, I worked for the YMCA and helped distribute medications to various clinics across the country. In addition, I am trilingual, and can speak Arabic, French and English. My daughter and I would be thrilled to come work in Lyon, France at the monastery to be in community with others and experience a completely new way of life. The best way to learn about different cultures is to live and learn from the locals. Workaway provides the opportunity to give and by giving I get to experience a sense of joy that cannot be found through any other means. Giving makes me feel happier and more and more fulfilled. At the same time, I connect with others in a deeper way, and this creates a sense of unity and compassion within our communities.
Reem: I think it is so important for everyone (if they have the means to) to travel outside of their comfort zone and to try new ways of life and gain new experiences. I was born in Lebanon and came to the US when I was less than 2 years old and have been a world traveler ever since. I love seeing how people across the world live their lives day-to-day, and also trying their food (of course). I have worked a few different jobs over the past few years, gaining experience in food industry, but in gardening and landscape as well. I am an intermediate in speaking Arabic and a beginner in speaking FrenchInterests
