Description
Hi everyone :)
My name is Sophie, I currently live in Leipzig where I study Theatre after finishing my Bachelor in journalism in Berlin last year. I'm a very curious and good-natured person and I want to see as much of the world as possible. I want to learn more about other cultures and people and would love to connect with people all across the world.
In my free time I read a lot, I spend time outside with my friends and I really love the performing arts - especially theatre and dance. Dancing is still new to me as I only started three years ago, but it's a lot of fun. I also paint quite a lot and do all sorts of arts and crafts projects in my free time and sometimes they even look good! Secondly I also love writing and have written for various newspapers and one theatre festival blog. When I'm not travelling I currently work for a Japanese newspaper office in Berlin where I help the Japanese correspondent.
I also routinely work in youth projects as an instructor on a sailing ship called Thor Heyerdahl, so I'm used to hard work and long hours as well as tough weather conditions.
I think that I'm quite hardworking and am always willing to contribute as much as I can to whatever project you are working on! If you have any questions about me, just ask :)

I alsways prepare by learning some basics but it would be wonderful if you could talk to me in your native language from time to time, so I can try to learn abit more.

More details about your skills
Writing: I have quite a lot of experience with writing, both in english and german. If you need any help with creating a website or something similar, I could definitely help! I also once working for a fundraising campaign for the UNHCR that collected money for refugees, where I learned a lot about well-structured argumentation and ways of gathering funding for projects.
Work with Children: I work as an instructor and mentor on a three-masted Top-Sail-Schooner (Thor Heyerdahl) where I teach kids from the ages of 13-17 how to sail and work together as a team. The trips usually last 2-3 weeks at a time and I also teach them about marine biology, navigation and weather.
I also have 3 younger siblings who I often took care of as my mom was sometimes struggling with other things. I also did an internship at a kindergarten and know how to talk to kids, occupy them with games, crafts or activities like singing and performances. I also just really enjox spending time with them, as I think they can also teach us a lot.
Work with animals: I'm quite familiar with horses, cats and dogs and know how to approach them and take care of them. I also have four years of riding experience, although I probably need a refresher since I stopped at 18. My family used to have two hunting dogs when I was younger and I have always lived with cats.
General maintenance tasks: There really isn't much that I haven't done around houses and daily chores. I can cook, clean and repair things and if I don't know something, I can usually come up with a solution quite fast after a bit of research. In the past I also briefly worked on a farm and a sailing boat, so I'm definitely not one to shy away from physical labour. My sister also works on a farm in Sweden and she often teaches me some things about holistic farming and sustainable living. I'm very interested in those things and would love to learn more, if you have an expertise in that field!
