Hello, my name is Stephen.

I am originally from Colombia and have lived in the United States for many years. I enjoy learning through direct experience, practical work, and cultural exchange.

My background is in engineering, and over the years I have worked in different environments that required adaptability, discipline, problem solving, and hands-on involvement. I am comfortable learning new tasks, working both independently and as part of a team, and contributing wherever needed.

I have experience traveling through cultural exchange platforms, including Couchsurfing in Japan, and I value respectful, meaningful interaction with people from different backgrounds. I joined Workaway because I want to experience different ways of living, contribute in a useful way, and learn practical skills through real-world experience.

I am especially interested in sustainability, gardening, eco-projects, farm life, off-grid environments, and projects that involve physical work and commitment. I enjoy simple living, being outdoors, and learning by doing. I am comfortable with simple accommodations and happy to help with physically demanding tasks when needed.

I speak both Spanish and English fluently and look forward to meeting people, helping where I can, and learning something new along the way.

I have experience in hands-on environments and I am comfortable with practical, physical work. I have worked in field-based roles, including as a field engineer, where I was involved in on-site problem solving, coordination, and execution of tasks under real conditions.

I am physically capable and willing to do demanding work. I learn quickly and adapt to new tasks, whether it involves gardening, basic construction, moving materials, or general maintenance.

I am disciplined, reliable, and used to following through on responsibilities. I pay attention to instructions and can work independently once I understand what needs to be done.

I am comfortable with simple living conditions and understand that this type of experience requires effort, consistency, and a good attitude.

I dedicate part of my time to independent editorial and writing work, currently focused on a long-term project. This is something I pursue on my own terms, and I value being able to balance it with physical, hands-on work.

I am interested in simple environments where I can focus, work, and learn without unnecessary distractions. I enjoy quiet time, reading, and reflection, but I also value shared work, conversation, and contributing to the space I am in.
