  • Description

Hi :-) My name is Sienna. When traveling, my greatest pleasures are meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and getting to know new cultures.

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting with a minor in German from Georgia State University, where I graduated from in fall of 2023. I also write songs, sing, and play guitar, and plan to eventually further my education in music/musical theatre.

My family is German, so I have studied and learned German, and have traveled around Germany quite a bit. This includes a study abroad program I participated in in high school, where I made good friends I still keep in touch with today, and visit every so often.

In summer of 2022, I did two separate study abroad programs in Athens, Greece and Dublin, Ireland, and around these programs visited friends and traveled to Northern Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Spain. I was again in Italy in late December 2023 into January 2024 visiting a friend there, where I went skiing for the first time and really fell in love with the Alps. Outside of these trips I have also visited France, Jamaica, and Malawi.

I am an activist. I am currently fighting against the construction of Cop City on the land of the Weelaunee forest in Atlanta. Fighting for the rights and safety of people and the environment is extremely important to me, and a big part of what I care about.

I love to be outside, and I care deeply about animals and wildlife. Rock climbing, hiking, and running are become my favorite forms of exercise, particularly climbing. I would love to try van-living and camping. I also really like to do yoga (hot yoga especially).

A little while ago I was vegetarian for a year. Now, when I consume meat, I try to do so in a way that causes as little suffering as possible. I care a lot about animals, and I want to limit my negative impact on the environment as much as I can. A goal of mine is to learn more about how to grow my own food and learn about life at a farmstay.

In 2018 I went with the Fulbright Program to Malawi, where we followed-up on work done the previous year in 3 villages. We worked with a local company, Grace Pads, to support their making and distribution of reusable menstrual pads, and we worked with the Napambo village in their reforestation efforts.

I am a big believer in self-reflection, personal growth, and therapy for those who want to do it. It's important to me that the people close to me are healthy motivators for me to grow into the best version of myself, and that I can be the same thing for people who I love.

I can't wait to get started on my workaway adventures. Please message me if you have any questions about me. I look forward to getting to know you.

  • More details about your skills

I am a native English speaker, and I am currently working on a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate, so I could of course help someone to learn English.

I graduated last December with a major in acting and a German minor. I am not at the level of a native speaker, but I am very proficient in German, and could help someone study German. I have also studied Spanish and French, and am still continuing my studies, so I would like to practice both/either languages with people I am working with.

As I mentioned in my profile description, I am a musician. I played violin for 7 years, my first instrument, and am able to read music. I regularly perform singing and playing guitar, usually playing music I have written myself. I could assist in helping someone learn to read music, as well as help someone learn to play violin, sing, or teach a beginner things about guitar, ukulele, and piano (all of which I have some experience playing).

I have experience taking care of newborns and toddlers, and babysitting older kids as well.

I have some experience working as a field hand on a local organic strawberry farm weeding and planting. I also have always grown houseplants, and this past season planted some strawberry plants of my own, planning to garden more in the future. I have also planted my faire share of trees of varying types with my dad. I would really love to help with keeping a large garden to make it easier to do it myself one day.

I cook for myself often, mostly vegetarian with some meat, and can help prepare meals.

I've had pets of many kinds; dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, turtles, fish... I have a lot of knowledge of taking care of these kinds of animals, and want to learn how to take care of larger/farm animals. I also worked at a pet store for a year, and here took care of frogs, lizards, snakes, crustaceans, and other rodents/reptiles. I also have helped take care of two litters of kittens from birth, so I have experience with young cats.

I have worked in the service industry since I was 15 years old. Because of this, I have a lot of customer service experience. I love to connect with the people I serve. I am also well-versed in handling customer complaints, and making sure everyone leaves happy.

I am a beginner at knitting, but could share what I know!

I have a driver's license and have been driving since I was 15, never in an accident.

I'm a tidy person and always clean up after myself.

I would love to share any of my skills with my hosts, and learn from them in any way I can. Just a few things I would like to improve upon/learn are growing food, building structures, electrical & plumbing knowledge, cooking/baking, surfing, and knitting/crocheting.

  • What else ...

I am interested in furthering my spiritual journey and expanding my knowledge of spirituality and religions, and meeting people who are interested in sharing spiritual teachings, experiences, literature, etc. Connecting with our planet is sacred to me, as is working to live a life that works with earth and not against it. I am looking to connect genuinely with people all around the world.
