  • Description

Hi, I’m Shannon! I’m from England and I’m heading out to start an adventure in AUSTRALIA! My aim is to generally live more in the moment and to experience different lifestyles (instead of fish&chips and scones haha!). So, here goes!
I would describe myself as a gentle, empathetic individual and very family orientated. I’m always there to chat to or steal a big hug from. I like to think I’m approachable and easy to talk to- I’ve dabbled in all sorts so I have plenty to chat about!
I’m a big fan of movies and music, so will probably end up waffling on about that. I also love dancing! So if you like to have a boogie too I’ll be cracking moves along side you! I have two pet rabbits who are my world, so they get thoroughly spoilt. Some of my other hobbies are sewing, drawing and looking after my many houseplants.

More details about my language interests
With English being may only language I would like to be able to pick up basics in other languages too. I was taught French in school but being dyslexic I found it very challenging in the way we were taught. Hopefully I can learn some languages while travelling and break the barrier.

  • Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

    Some knowledge of:

    Gardening
    DIY and building projects
    Babysitting and creative play
    General Maintenance
    Helping around the house
    Art Projects
    Teaching
    House & pet sitting
    Being an elderly companion
    Eco Projects
  • More details about your skills

My skills are varied, from artistic things to DIY and hopefully they will be useful when doing workaways.
I have been a dancer since I was 7 years old, doing competitions and exams. I also studied at The Royal Ballet School for a year when I was younger, and I taught ballet to ages 3-17 a few years ago. I studied acting for two years- since then I have been in movies and TV and have also driven action vehicles on screen too. I've taught myself photography and enjoy taking photos of wildlife as well as doing photography and videography for bands.
Some of my more useful everyday sills are cleaning, DIY like painting and decorating, basic mechanics, gardening, basic constructing/landscaping. I also do massage, hair play and soft touch therapy (I'm not qualified to do this professionally but have been taught by my mother who was a masseuse and aromatherapist) friends and family often come to me if they need my help. I can also drive, I passed my test in a manual car but currently drive and prefer to drive automatics (lazy driving as my grandad says).
I am a very good listener which helps me pick up new skills quickly and I take instructions and criticism well. I have experience with both elderly and children- having taught children and having a younger sister and younger cousins ive learnt how to be pretty good entertainment haha! I volunteered at an elderly social group with over 30 members and I currently look after a 92 year old who has Alzheimer's, so I have shared many conversations with very wise men and women.
I can make a good cocktail and a sinful banana bread, but those are my best skills in the kitchen haha. I can cook basic meals; pastas, salads, jacket potatoes etc. Cooking is definitely something I'd like to become more confident with but will certainly still help out with food prep and anything like that.
overall I can turn my hand to most things and im very willing to learn so I should be able to help out as much as possible!
