Hi, I’m Shannesse, an Australian traveller who has been exploring the world over the past two years. What started as a shorter trip has turned into a much bigger adventure.

I began my travels in North America where I worked at a children’s summer camp in Canada and spent time travelling around the US. Since then, I’ve spent the last year and a half living in the mountains in Japan, snowboarding through the winters and working with kids outdoors during the summers.

Between seasons I’ve had the chance to travel around different parts of Asia, and I’ve absolutely loved solo travelling. It’s been such a rewarding way to see the world, challenge myself, and meet people from all kinds of backgrounds.

Back home in Australia, I work in film and TV. I have a creative mind and a love for photography and videography. I’m a big fan of movies and TV shows and will happily exchange recommendations any day! I also enjoy board games, sports and activities in general, and anything outdoors.

During my travels I’ve done a few Workaways, and they’ve been some of the highlights of my trip. Being able to contribute, learn new skills, and experience a place in a more meaningful way has led to some amazing friendships and memories.

I’m adaptable and always happy to help with whatever is needed. I’m comfortable helping with things like childcare, outdoor activities, general household tasks, or anything else that needs an extra pair of hands. If I don’t already know how to do something, I’m always keen to learn.

I’m really excited for the next stage of my journey and looking forward to meeting new hosts, helping out where I can, and continuing to experience the world in a more local and connected way.

I’m a creative person at heart and before travelling, worked in video, photography, and creative media. I enjoy storytelling and capturing moments, and I’m always happy to help with creative projects, social media, or visual content if needed.

Alongside this, I have experience working in retail, hospitality, and customer service, which has helped me develop strong communication skills and the ability to work well with all kinds of people. I’ve also spent a lot of time working with children, including at a summer camp in Canada and leading outdoor activities with kids in Japan.

Living and working in different countries has made me very adaptable, organised, and comfortable jumping into new environments. I’m always happy to help with a wide range of tasks.

I enjoy meeting new people, learning new skills, and being part of a positive environment, and I always try to bring a good attitude and strong work ethic to whatever I’m doing.
