I would love to one day build and maintain my own off-grid home so I’m super-keen to learn anything that will translate to that! I love being outside and physically active

Hey, I’m Sarah, a newbie to Workaway 😊
Despite being new to Workaway, I’m not new to volunteering! I frequently have a volunteer role ongoing as I take delight in helping others. Previous volunteer roles have included working on a youth offending team, in a mental health charity, at primary schools and an after-school club. Currently, I am volunteering on a couple of research projects through my university. Learning is one of my favourite hobbies and I’m currently studying a master’s degree in Nutrition, hoping to pursue a career in research/lecturing.
Last summer, I volunteered for 6 weeks at a residential bootcamp, helping the staff with maintaining the house and supporting the clients (I can provide a reference for this), which I thoroughly enjoyed as I loved running around outside in the sun all day! In previous years, I have volunteered at Boomtown – a unique arts/music festival. I’ve especially enjoyed these residential volunteer projects as they are based outside and there is a lot of movement/physical activity. For my current studies and work I spend a lot of time sat at a computer, but I am eager for this to change!
I’m a positive, easy-going person, always armed with a smile. I have worked hard throughout my roles and always strive to do my best and deliver top results, which is why I trust I will be a great help for you!
What brings me happiness? Peace and quiet, vibing with people, hiking, being active, being outside in beautiful scenery, feeling useful, arts and crafts, puzzles, good-humoured company. Though I enjoy interacting with and getting along with people, having alone time is also very important to me!
What am I after? I’m looking for a volunteer role where I can learn to live more ‘at one’ with the land. I would like to one day build and maintain my own off-grid home so I’m super-keen to learn anything that will translate to that. Though I must admit, I have little experience in these areas, so will need instructions! Nonetheless, I’m enthusiastic and learn quickly 😊Interests

More details about your skills
I’ve held a variety of jobs over the years – from warehouse work, to retail, to support work, to a children’s mental health practitioner, to name a few, as well as held several volunteer roles, so I have a lot of experience working with and communicating with a wide variety of people.
Working as a support worker and in the field of mental health really enhanced my patience, ability to stay calm, resilience and ability to build rapport with individuals.
Every position I have held has required me to work as part of a team, which I thoroughly enjoy as I take delight in meeting and interacting with people.
I’m really hoping to build skills in the areas of farming/gardening/construction/building, etc, as I would one-day love to build my own off-grid home. Though my skills in these areas are quite lacking! (please teach me)Age
